Sunflowers and Oceans
Summary
‘’Section 12, second shelf. It’s okay.’’ This time his grey eyes met Lily’s green ones. She stopped in her tracks, she never saw Regulus Black like this, actually she never cared to think about it. Yes, she did hear about him here and there, sometimes Sirius throwing tantrums about how he hated his family and especially his brother or in the girl’s bathroom overhearing girls talking about their crush on Regulus Black and how dreamy he was. She never even considered looking at him to see what he looked like at all. Now that she was so close to him and talked to him, he caught her by surprise. She saw what the girls were actually talking about. He was so pale but shining as well it made sense to her that he was named after a star. He was mesmerising, eyes grey as the ocean in the middle of a storm. Such sharp futures might actually cut her and make her bleed to her death. If she didn’t actually, talk to him, she might’ve thought that he was made by a sculptor, to be admired.
Note

chapter-1 Pilot

’’Oi, Lily. Wait!!’’ James called; Lily tried to look back while dealing with the books she had on her lap. She couldn’t put them down or Madam Pince would tell them they got dusted and that’s why she couldn’t reach to her wand to make things easier for herself. Just a second after the books flew from her hands to air and started floating above them in a neat stack. ‘’That should be better.’’ Said James with a soft smile on his lips. ‘’Thanks James.’’Lily murmured under breath. ‘’Where are you heading, library??’’

‘’Yeah, Remus is waiting for me, studying as usual.’’

‘’Alright then, to the library!’’ James exclaimed. Lily wasn’t sure why he was so obsessed with her, she wasn’t a pureblood, didn’t have the same and beautiful features like the other girls, she wasn’t skinny and she wasn’t into quidditch as well. They didn’t have anything in common but he was still around her all the time. Well until the beginning of the year.

*On September 1st, she was on the train as usual with the girls chatting and catching up from the summer they had separated. Then the boys came as their usual time, this time James didn’t hop next to Lily immediately or complimented not even a comment about it just a usual ‘Hey Evans’ and that was it. Lily was confused, was this another plan to get her
attention. No, actually not. He seemed mature both physically and mannerly. After a couple
hours chatting with the boys James sat next to Lily. She did see that coming but the next thing.*

*‘’Hey Evans, I wanted to tell you something.’’*

*‘’Umm, Yea?’’ Lily asked, confused. She did hope that wasn’t another love
confession or she was going to hex him really bad.*

*‘’I wanted to say, I’m sorry for the past couple years, I know I’ve been a jerk to you and did things without your wants and wishes and I’m sorry that I annoyed and/or
upset you. I never meant to make you feel uncomfortable. I just- I- You know my mum and dad met at the school right and they have been telling me stories from their school years since I know myself and I grew up on these stories. I felt like when I step into this school, I was going to find the love of my life. Yes, at the age of eleven. It was not unnormal for me because that was the thing I have known
since forever. So, I never thought about other people and unfortunately
you saw these. To me I was making gestures and showing my love. I did not know I was- ‘’ he stopped
for a second. His eyes glued on the floor of the train. Lily felt something inside her, that was kind of
heart breaking in a way. James took a deep breath and continued. ‘’ I didn’t know I was being too much and I am sorry for everything and anything that made you feel bad and uncomfortable. Can we- Can we be friends? Can we start over this?’’ James finally took his eyes from the floor and looked into Lily’s emerald green eyes, glassy. Lily smiled and she extended her hand in front of
them. ‘’Hi, I’m Lily Evans. And you?’’ James looked into her hand then up to her eyes. A smile creeped upon his lips and there it was all teeth bare. That Potter smile. He reached to her hand and grabbed: ‘’ Hi, I’m James Potter. Nice meeting you.’’*

‘’Here we are, do you want me to drop them to the desk you guys will study?’’ he asked.
‘’It’s okay I got this. Thanks James.’’
‘’Anytime Lils.’’ He waved his hand slowly. Lily waved back and flew the books inside the library with her. Walking slowly to their usual table with Remus back in the corner in front of the windows, getting as much light as possible without being bothered by it. She put the books to their places
and took the ones she was going to study now. She sat at the table without looking, her head in the book searching for something.
‘’Hey Remus, do you know where is the demonstration of the levitation charm, the one casted it was- ‘’
‘’Jarleth Hobart, It’s in Cornelius Agrippa’s book of charms. At section 43’’ said an unfamiliar familiar
voice. Posh and cold with a slight French accent felt under his tone. She looked at the owner of the voice. Regulus Black with all his grace sitting at the chair like it’s made of nails. So straight it hurt even Lily. He did not even bother to raise his head to look at her.

‘’Uh- thank you*, I guess*.’’ Last part murmured to herself. She then stands up to find the book she just asked, waited a minute and look at Regulus again:
‘’Do you might know- Uhm. Where could be the book for the *Potions: Modern Medicine and Herbology*. If you don’t know it’s okay, I really don’t need it just- ‘’

‘’Section 12, secondshelf. It’s okay.’’

This time his grey eyes met Lily’s green ones. ‘’Hi Lils- oh hi Regulus you’re early.’’ Remus’ voice made her snap from the thoughts.

‘’Yes, I didn’t know we were going to have company.’’ Regulus answered. Lily was shocked to her bones by the conversation they shared. She was mesmerised by a Black and also betrayed by her best friend and her study mate. She had just gone for a week to study in her dorm cause her stomach was hurting even after many pain-relieving potions she had. She casted a quick wordless silencing charm.

‘’YOU REPLACED ME!!?’’ She shouted her voice cracking how thin it was.

‘’Jesus, Lily. I did not replace anyone, especially not you. Don’t you remember my study club, in
which nobody showed up to join us? Well, we have someone to join us finally.’’ Remus said, shifting
to his chair and settling to the table with all of his books and parchments and quills. Making
a mess the second he sat.

‘’Oh-… Right. You did put some posters around the corridors. Sorry. Umm, what was I going to
do?’’ Last bit murmured to herself again. And Regulus Black answered, sounding a little exasperated.

‘’Section 12. Second shelve. *Potions: Modern Medicine and Herbology.* Section 43, *Cornelius
Agrippa’s Book of Charms*.*’’* Lily felt her cheeks burning from embarrassment. She spaced out to think how admiring Regulus Black was. This was nothing like her. She turned on her feet mumbling how dumb she feels to herself walking towards the front of the library, to finally taking a deep breath she didn’t knew she needed. She was feeling hot for no real reason she thought. She got
the books and went back to the table. She left her books thinking if she should go back to her dorm to study with Mary and Marlene or even Peter if he was willing. When she arrived at the table, she wasn’t expecting Remus and Regulus talking, laughing. Did Regulus Black really was laughing. They were talking about a new muggle book that she also liked very much

“Are you guys talking about *‘We All Wanted To be the Sky’* ’’ she said, settling into her place. Moving books and papers around the table to make herself some space.

‘’Yes!! I loved her writing style and the universe she made. They have magic but it’s different from ours. It’s so much cooler. Also, I might have a crush on Daren after the second book.’’ Remus said.
‘’You hated him from the first book. Also, I have the dibs on him and you know that. You gave it happily.’’ Lily said holding the book that had the drawing of the character of the cover they are talking about, like someone would take it from her.

‘’Okay, yes, maybe I did but I changed my mind!!’’

‘’You should’ve trusted my instincts. They’re never wrong.’’

‘’I actually like Sina better. He is the most sensible one.’’ Regulus cut in.

‘’He is cute and stuff but I think Daren or at least Arın has more of a charisma, also the power they have is too fascinating.’’ Lily answered.

‘’Okay but let’s not forget about Nova. She is more powerful than all of them. Even than the Earth Lord who is older than her by thousands of years and who has more knowledgeabout magic and their powers also the rocks he had.’’

‘’Facts.’’ Remus agreed.

‘’She was driving me crazy so much that I oversaw the things she made. Oh, except when she- oh never mind that was stupid too.’’ Lily said, shrugging. ‘’Oh,what are your theories about what will happen on the third book?’’ she asked and they talked about the series for a couple more hours instead of studying until they realised it was supper time.

‘’I’ll go to my dorm to drop my books. See you tomorrow.’’ Regulus nodded his head once and turned to the dungeons heading to his dorm. Lily looked at his back until he was lost behind the walls.

‘’Okay, what was that?’’ Remus said, pointing the direction Regulus went.

‘’What was what? Nothing, I just spaced out I think.’’ Lily said, looking one last time to that side before turning to the Gryffindor tower and starting walking. She felt her cheeks
burning and started to walk faster. Remus by her side just walking at his normal pace. Him
and his one metre and something long legs. Fun fact they did actually measure; *Sirius and James and their unquestionable minds.*

‘‘Were you looking at Regulus?’’ Remus sounded pretty surprised.

‘No-o, why would I?’ Lily stuttered, cursing to herself because she was the worst liar after Remus.

Remus stopped in his place laughing so hard, he bent over to hold his knees.

‘‘I cannot believe you fell for Regulus Black’s charm like every other girl.’’

‘‘No- oh whatever, it's not my fault he is this pretty!! You can’t just continue on with your life normally without admiring his beauty?! I know Black’s genes are strong from Sirius but Regulus’ charm is something otherworldly!’’ Her voice gets pitched after she mentions Regulus’ name. Remus started to laugh harder.

“Do not- do not ever say these to both Sirius or James. They both will be jealous
for different reasons.’ Finally started to walk again.

‘Oh, don’t remind me, I know and I won’t say a word to both of them.’ She chuckled. They
didn’t speak until saying *bye* to each other before separating to their dorms. Lily opened her dorm room to find it empty. Thinking probably both of the girls already went to the supper. They were used to Lily and Remus being late every time when they were together at the library. They stopped waiting for them after a while. Lily left all the books she got at her desk and went to check herself before going back to the common room to meet Remus again. She sprayed herself with perfume and shut the dorm's door after her. Remus is already waiting for her with Sirius next to him.

‘’Oh, hi Sirius didn’t know you were still here.’’

‘‘Wanted to do a little change this time. What’s up, flower?’’ He put his arm on Lily’s shoulder, starting to walk to the portrait door.

‘‘Can’t complain. You?’’

‘‘Same old things. So, I was thinking: you know the Christmas break is coming?'’

‘‘Don’t remind me. It is pretty close.’’ said Lily mopping. She obviously didn’t
want to go home to see her sister.

‘‘Yeaaaahhh. That’s why I wanted to cheer people up before everyonegoes back to their respectful homes.’’

‘‘What is it Sirius?’’ Lily raises her brown this time knowingly.

‘‘You know I love you right Lily flower?’’ He said pinching Lily’s cheeks, trying to be sweet.

‘’Spit it already Black I know what you’re going to ask already.’’ Slapping Sirius’ hand from her face.

‘‘I already talked to Remus but he said I have to ask you first. Don’t you want to have some fun before going to deal with your crazy sister.’’

‘’Hey Tuney isn’t crazy!’’

‘’Yeah yeah, whatever. Tell me, do you want to have some fun, Lils?’’

‘‘Fine, do whatever you want to but before you go running to James. You’ll tell whatever you’re going to do for the party and get my permission. I really don’t want to lie to McGonagall again. You know I hate it.’’

‘Whatever you want, Lily flower whatever you want! Thank you!!’ He pinched Lily’s cheeks with both hands and started to run to The Great Hall to James.

‘’And you love this idiot?’’ Lily turned to Remus rubbing her cheeks. They were red
because of all the pinching they had to deal with...

‘‘Yes, I don’t know how it happened.’’ He shrugged his shoulders. Lily chuckled to him and went through the door of The Great Hall. Mary waved from across the Gryffindor table. Lily’s
eyes searched for a glimpse of Regulus Black.
He was sitting at the Slytherin table with Pandora and Evan Rosier, Bary Crouch Jr. and Dorcas Meadows from Lily’s year. Pandora and Dorcas were the ones talking this time. Lily from time to time looked at them because of Marlene’s obsession about Meadows. Usually, the ones talking were either the girls or Evan and Barty, Regulus rarely talked or was at the table. She took her
eyes from the Slytherin’s table and followed Remus. It looked like Sirius already told James and the rest of the school because everybody is talking about the pre- Christmas party that is going
to be hosted by the four Gryffindor boys and the rest of the Gryffindors. Some students thanked Lily for the permission while she was trying to get to her seat.

‘’We should use the non-flamed fireworks inside at midnight, like mimicking the New Year’s
Eve that muggles do in London, don’t you think so Remus?’’ James asked Remus the moment
he sat with Lily.

‘‘I don’t know what do you think Lils?’’ Remus asked her while piling
food to his plate.

‘‘Just do not burn anything, did you even test those non-flamed fireworks
James? Are they really non-flamed?’’ She asked suspiciously also to get some food to her plate like Remus.

‘’Um—*Sirius write that down*. Of course, Lily flower, we tested it already or don’t you
trust me?’’ He whispered to Sirius and turned to Lily smiling broadly. He really cannot lie at all.

‘‘Yes, I don’t trust you in these types of situations James. Test those and show me sometime before
the party so we don’t end up at the infirmary that night. Poppy won’t be convinced that to be an accident after the curfew.’’ Lily warned James and Sirius with her eyes. She was pretty
scared when things didn’t go as planned and hurt other people. Sirius and James knew that and tried hard to not go around that side of nerves. They turned to their sides to discuss more details
about the party while Lily’s eyes searched for Regulus once again. She caught sight of him before he went out of the door of The Great Hall. She did not know he was already looking at her when their eyes met.
