Chapter 4
Jasper watched as Harry came into the room in his wheelchair. He was shocked to see a baby with him. A blue-haired amber-eyed baby who was babbling excitedly at his mate. Did his mate already have a child? Was that why they moved here? It would hurt if his mate already had a child because that would mean that he'd been with someone other than him. A woman. Was his mate even gay? Maybe he was bisexual like himself. He hoped that his mate would give him a chance.
As they watched the baby reached toward Andromeda and was soon falling out of the chair. Harry's eyes went wide knowing that he couldn't catch him fast enough even with magic.
Rosalie was suddenly there gently catching the baby. She slowly, slower than human speed, and gently lifted the baby back up into Harry's lap then was back with the family again. Emmett took his wife's hand in his own and squeezed it.
"Thank you for that." Andromeda said picking up the baby. "My grandson." she informed. "Edward Lupin. Though we just call him Teddy. His parents died recently. Draco is my nephew. Harry and Luna are distant cousins.I am taking care of them for different family reasons. What can we do for you, today?"
"We came to apologize." Carlisle spoke. "I am Carlisle Cullen this is my wife Esme Cullen and our children Rosalie and Jasper Hale, and Emmet and Alice Cullen. Today at lunch our eldest Edward used his telepathy on young Harry. He was rather harsh with it. He hurt young Harry and we have come to apologize. Harry assured all of my children he had classes with that he and by extension, all of you know what we are so please understand that some of us have abilities. Edward was alarmed when he heard the name Black because of the Blacks on the reservation...you see...."
"They are distant cousins as well." Andromeda stated "Their ancestor had very little magic and was cast out of the family but he was both a born and cursed wolf. He was cursed by a vampire that could still use magic because he rejected her. He would only be able to transform if vampires lived near him for an extended amount of time. Only then would he be able to be his beloved wolf again. He was never able to transform again because he settled down here in Forks. He passed the gene and curse on. Told the tribe he'd married into his tales. Later the gene reactivated when you came here the first time. Now you are back and our cousins will be turning again. They are not werewolves they are simply wolves. They do not know that we know about them and as of yet they do not know of our magic. Your son has greatly insulted us when we offer only friendship...."
"I see..." Carlisle nodded. "We are very sorry and his actions are not our own. We have made sure that he knows this. We are prepared to exile him if that is your wish."
"You would exile your son from your coven just because we asked?" Andromeda wondered narrowing her eyes. "Why?"
"Harry is my mate." Jasper answered. "My soul mate. I felt it the moment I saw him. Alice saw him coming." his eyes were on Harry. "It is against our laws to hurt another vampire's soul mate unless you have no other choice. Edward chose to hurt you, Harry. We should be banishing him. Exiling him for the breach. If that is what you want then we will do it. Sorry does not cover it and never will. I am an empath and will tell you now that Edward feels no remorse for his actions he feels that they are justified."
"Well, you know my vote." Draco cut in looking at Harry. "But I understand." he sighed as Harry gave him a pleading look. He looked to Luna. "Well, you got anything?"
Luna was staring off into space.
"Edward will be a problem. A very serious one when a girl named Bella arrives mid-January." Luna informed. "She will bring nothing but trouble with her. Edward is going to target Harry no matter what until she arrives. He already hates him. I can not tell why. I see the future and this problem is in the past."
"You're like me?" Alice asked excitedly.
"No. You are limited to people's choices and can not see the wolves or hybrids of your species." Luna stated. "I can help with the blank spots in your sight. When Harry's majority comes you won't be able to see him either. We can't have that. With both of us watching him he'll be much safer. You are also very limited on how many people you can watch without it effecting you and making you even hungrier. With training that can be corrected. We'll meet twice a week."
Harry gave Draco a pleading look and Draco let out an annoyed sigh.
"Bella, a rather unfortunate name." Draco frowned at Luna. "I don't like it and neither does Harry."
"Neither will like her either." Luna shrugged. "Nothing we can do about it."
"Is this Bella girl Edward's mate?" Esme asked excitedly.
"Edward will think so but no." Luna hummed. "She is merely....what is the word you use? When her blood calls to him and makes him want to tear her apart but it smells so sweet and wonderful that he'll think he's in love with her when it is really only the smell?"
"We call that a Singer." Emmett answered. "I killed my last three. I had my Rose so I knew that they weren't my mates."
Rosalie smiled at him.
"Yes, singer. She is his Singer only. Not his mate." Luna said. She blinked and shook her head. "That's all I can get for now. Edward won't try a full-on assault like that again but he will keep trying subtly. We must help Harry with his Occlumency."
They talked longer and it was decided that Draco would teach Edward Occlumency as punishment. The Coven didn't see how teaching Edward to control his ability was a punishment but Draco had just sneered at them. He also sent Jasper home with a stack of books saying that if he intended to court Harry he had to do it properly.
Harry sighed to himself as he did his homework. He could expect Edward to keep doing this? He didn't think that he could take it. The Cullens had left their cell numbers which Andromeda had programmed into each of their new cellphones. He tapped on Jasper's contact there was a picture of Jasper to mark it. Andromeda had explained that Harry liked each contact to have a picture of the person and Rosalie and Esme had laughed saying that they were the same way.
When I was fourteen there was a boy at my school that looked just like Edward. His name was Cedric and I watched him be killed. Cedric was a kind, considerate, extremely loyal person. Seeing Edward look so much like him but act so differently is really making me upset and confused. I just thought that you should know the reasons that I don't like Edward besides the obvious.
Jasper was shocked when he got a text from Harry so soon. He read it through twice and was worried instantly. He'd seen this kid murdered while in school? He wondered how young they'd been. His love wasn't more than seventeen he'd stake his immortal life on it. Had Harry had a crush on this guy? He really hoped not. He couldn't compete with a dead man. But it was odd that the boy looked so much like Edward. All of Edward's family had died to the Spanish Flu. Maybe he'd had family he hadn't known about or something and that Cedric kid was a descendant he needed more information because that was odd.
I'm really sorry that you had to go through something like that. Watching someone close to you die. It's not easy. I know. It can take some time to recover. Some never do. As far as any of us know all of Edward's family died of the Spanish Flu so I find it interesting that they look a like. How closely would you say? I'm sorry you don't have to answer if you don't want. I'm being insensitive.
Harry blinked at the text. Wow, that was fast. He read it. So Jasper understood how he felt? Well, he was an Empath.
They could be twins
That closely? Amazing.
They continued chatting for a bit though they stayed away from the Cedric topic. Harry got the feeling that Jasper was playing 'get to know him' with him. He supposed that was fine. Topics were light and whenever they got close to something Harry didn't want to talk about Jasper somehow knew even from where he was and he quickly changed the subject.
Harry enjoyed chatting with Jasper but had to stop when it came time for his Occlumency lesson from Draco. They'd been doing this since they'd started hanging out. It was shortly after Harry had gotten Lucius Malfoy off with Probation and Community Service for ten years. He'd gotten Draco off without punishment altogether. He hated the lessons but they were useful and he was actually learning and making progress. Being able to stand up to Edward's mental attack for as long as he had had proved that.
