Sometimes, when Kathryn looks at Seven, all she can see is everything she hates about the Delta Quadrant: a cold uncaring temper; the painful loneliness of trying to navigate a place you don’t belong; and occasionally, a taunting, breathtaking beauty that irritates her, for it is not hers to behold, not really.

This unwarranted ire only makes Kathryn hate herself, instead. When she rolls her eyes and flicks her wrist, shooing Seven away like an animal, she feels remorse, yet unable to change. Truthfully, she knows Seven doesn’t deserve this. But, her heart sighs, acrid and weary, neither does she.
