Chapter 3

Sirius was in an absolute rage. Whatever this protection order thing was, clearly was important because the amount of slytherins retribution within the span of Regulus revoking said order and dinner was ridiculous. He almost lost count of the jinx’s and hexes afforded to them. Dinner was not well either. Peace did not happen in the Great Hall as somehow the Slytherins had managed to convince the house elves to serve the worst of deserts to their table only! Sirius was furious, but worried more than furious.

Regulus had not come to dinner. Barty and Evan had, the two holed up at the Ravenclaw table whispering to themselves. Sirius had tracked their movements not caring if he seemed like a creep.

His friends were disturbed by his behavior. Just hours before he was talking about how horrible Regulus was, how annoying and what a bit he was, but they were beginning to realize that perhaps they had judged him too harshly. What supremist would evoke a protection order on their gang? Especially since Sirius had been blasted off the tree for a year now. And it hadn’t been revoked but it could be? Just Sirius blasé regard for pureblood customs could easily put a target on his back let alone the rest of it. Now something had changed, because now Sirius was legitimately worried. Anxiety was etched in every feature of his face and they knew they would have to figure out what was going on if they wanted to help him out.

When Barty and Evan walked over to the Slytherin and Ravenclaw male head prefects respectively to speak with them and they left the hall in a hurry Sirius it seemed had reached his limit in patience and rushed after them. This caused James to just groan and look at Remus pleadingly who sighed heavily and stood from the table to go after him.

Remus was hushed as he came towards where Sirius was hiding behind and alcove listening in on what Regulus’ friends and the Prefects were saying.

“that is a big accusation, Crouch…Rosier.” The Ravenclaw said. Crouch ran a hand through his hair, tugging on the ends. Rosier just looked worried.

“we are aware, but there is nothing for it. We have the…evidence…but most of the wizemagont is bought off so even if we tried nothing will come of a case.” The Slytherin looked at them sharply.

“evidence?” Rosier narrowed his eyes at him.

“why have you not spoken to Dumbledore about this?” The Ravenclaw asked and Rosier grimaced at the bark of a laugh Crouch gave out.

“Dumbledore? Regulus already warned Dumbledore of what was coming and the idiot didn’t give a shit. No, in fact he wanted Regulus to be a spy for him.” The raven claw head boy’s face twisted into a rather disgusted expression. “The great Dumbledore needed so desperately to have a 15 year old boy spy on the Death Eaters for him, despite knowing what they plan to do to him. So no. Dumbledore is useless.”

“We cannot hide him from his parents.” The Slytherins said slowly, thoughtfully. Rosier and Crouch both turned to them and gave him their attention. “Sirius was one thing, they had a spare. They could afford to loose Sirius, even if they would have preferred to have him heir over Regulus, which as we all know is something they did prefer. Regulus is too…radacal, too methodical, and too intelligent. Even with Sirius’ mindset he was a better option over Regulus, because Regulus knows how to play the game. And can use it to his advantage. That makes him dangerous. There is no what they will just let him out of their sight. Even if he wasn’t the heir, but especially now that he is.”

“so what are we going to do?” Crouch grit out. “Just let that…that vile man get to him again? After all the things that happened with Lucius?” Sirius inhaled sharply. What the hell had happened with Malfoy?

“no, of course not. Give us a few days. We will sort through those not loyal to the Blacks or Malfoys and try and see if we can gather enough of a force. With enough force they may be enticed to simply admit themselves, or let Regulus leave temporarily.”
