On October 31st, 1981, Lily and James Potter were murdered by the dark wizard who, for years, brought terror and fear upon the wizarding world.
On that day, the same wizard was met with death when he attempted to kill the young couple's child. The boy's mother, been given the chance to live, sacrificed her life and thus when the wizard cast the killing curse on her helpless infant the magic rebounded on him and destroyed his body.
On that day, the wizard came to Godric's Hollow with the intention of killing the one year old boy who was destined to be his undoing. He did not, however, except nor care for the other baby that was laying in the same cradle as the child he was set on killing.
On that day, when the killing curse hit Harry Potter and backfired onto the wizard, the entirety of the wizarding world celebrated the downfall of Lord Voldemort.
From that day on, the Potter twins were known all over as the pair who lived.
