Regulus p.o.v
“So your brother sacrificed himself to save you.” Barty whistled after I told them about the journey my friend and I had till now “that is very selfless of him and very admirable. I also feel bad about the way I treated the fire nation prince earlier knowing he got wrongly accused and imprisoned while all he did was trying to put an end to this war.”
“And I can’t believe the air nomad girl was betrayed by one of her friends or that the fire nation rounded up all the bender on kyoshi and the south pole because they supposedly formed a threat.” Evan shakes his head in disbelief.
“So what will you do after the war?” Barty asks me.
“Rebuild the nations and make sure the peace will be kept.”
“And besides that?” he looks at me
“I don’t know what you mean?”
“He means what are the plans for you.” Evan starts to explain “You’ve been training your entire life to save your brother and now you are mastering the elements and fighting to end this war. You are always doing something for someone else when are you going to do something for yourself. When the war is over what do you want to do besides your avatar duties, cause those will always exist.”
“Just because you are the avatar doesn’t mean you can’t do anything for yourself, so what do you want for yourself?” Barty asks
“I never really thought about that.” I bit my lip “I didn’t think I was allowed to think that.”
“Ofcourse you are entitled to think about your desires .” Evan gave me a small smile “ most of the avatars before you build lives, they settled down, got married, started a family even got an job that didn’t include being the avatar.”
I blush as I picture myself living next door to my brother where he had started his own family with Remus. I watched them wave at me as I felt two hands circle around my waist hugging me from behind, I knew whose hands had embraced me and when I turned around I stared straight into the brown eyes belonging to James “Well I would like that I think.”
“You think?” Barty wiggles his eyebrows at me “Tell me about who you are thinking that is making you blush.”
“I am not blushing.” I mutter
“You are liking someone.” Evan teases me “it’s written all over your face.”
“it’s none of your business.”
“He is deflecting.” Barty grins “There are definitely feelings involved, do not worry man I will support you as long as you’re a not thinking about Evan.”
“What no, it isn’t Evan.” I splutter “Do not worry.”
“Why not?” Evan pouts “am I not desirable to you?”
“What no, that isn’t what I meant.” I raise my hands in surrender
“Then prove it to me and give me a kiss.” Evan leans closer to me.
“Aren’t you going to stop this?” I look at Barty confused.
“Nah, I think it’s pretty hot.” Barty winks and I wondered if this man was really about to let his boyfriend kiss another man, maybe it’s a kink of something.
“Regulus?” an all too familiar voice speaks up and when I turn around I noticed James looking at me, his eyes looked angry even though he tried to keep a poker face. Suddenly I understood how this must look to him, Evan leaning in to kiss me while Barty was smirking at us. I was about to explain myself but James muttered something about apologizing for interrupting and left. I turn back to the boys I was with who were snickering.
I raise my eyebrow at the two of them “You knew he was there when Evan dared me to kiss him.”
“Perhaps.” Barty picks his teeth
“it was all a test.” I gasp “I should’ve known about how protective you are about Evan, you would never allow him to kiss me.”
“It’s nothing personal Reg, you are my type.” Evan ruffles my hair “but you are not Barty, I am sorry for teasing you.”
“But now we know who you were thinking about earlier.” Barty gives me a knowing smile “You are crushing on the fire nation prince.”
“You guys are annoying.” I roll my eyes.
“Well at least he didn’t deny it.” Evan stands up “it’s getting late, I am tired and you Regulus should find your prince and confess how you are feeling about him.”
“I can’t let my personal feelings get involved.” I tell them “Otherwise I do not know if I can do what I need to do.”
Barty gave me a pitiful smile before walking over to me and placing a hand on my shoulder “I understand that being the avatar brings a lot of responsibilities with it but don’t let yourself be unhappy.”
“Just so you know, you will always have a place here with us after the war ends.” Evan adds.
“I appreciate that.” I smile at them “thank you for listening.”
“That’s what friends are for right.” He replies “Good night Regulus.”
