Perfect Day
Summary
Draco smiled when he saw Harry, the love of his life walking down the aisle. He couldn't help but remember how everything happened since their first year at Hogwarts. How messy, unfair and lovely it was.

To my dear friends from that one insta group chat (je vous aime mes bebous)Sorry for my english, it isn't my first languageEnjoy <3

The sun was high that day, the air was warm with a soft breeze. A perfect summer day, really. The great lake perfectly reflected the blue sky. The sight truly was beautiful with all the wedding decorations. How silly it was. Who would want to get married at Hogwarts? Harry Potter would want that, and deep down, Draco knew why. No matter how dangerous and how unfair their years here had been, Hogwarts was home. It was, after all, at Hogwarts where everything happened.

But no matter how happy that day was, Draco felt a bittersweet taste in his mouth. Pansy didn’t accept to come, nor Blaise did. Why would they? Draco’s friends never liked Harry and he couldn’t blame them because just like him, they grew up on the wrong side of the war. But Draco really wanted them to come, so they would be with him for one of the most intense moments of his life. He really needed that Slytherin energy to help him go through that enormous Gryffindor vibe.

He must say, it was funny to see Granger running like her life depended on it. She helped a lot for the organisation, and it was well known that Hermione Granger was a control freak. She even scared that poor Weasley. Even some journalists for The Daily Prophet were present to see the most famous man in the wizarding world. So, everything had to be perfect, and it was almost time, Harry should arrive in a few minutes.

It was when Draco heard some light music that he finally saw Harry in his black wedding suit. Even for this perfect day, Harry couldn’t fight the mess that was his hair and Draco chuckled at that. He softly smiled at the brown-haired man and received the same smile.

It was when Harry walked down the aisle that all the memories and emotions flooded into Draco’s mind. That moment lasted for some seconds but for Draco, it was long enough to remember everything. When for the first time in 1991, grey met green. How much Draco wanted to impress the boy who lived and how that same boy refused to shake hands. The memories of them being rivals, the golden boy of Gryffindor against the silver prince of Slytherin. He chuckled at the memory of himself trying to get Potter’s attention whenever he could, really. Then, Draco thought back to the war and to its harsh reality, that the two boys were born on opposite sides of the war. The Dark Lord's declaration that Harry Potter was dead brought Draco to realise that he never wanted it to happen. But when Harry got out of Hagrid’s arms, Draco didn’t think twice before throwing his wand to him. And for that, Draco wasn’t thrown into Azkaban like any other death eaters, because Harry Potter, the boy who killed Voldemort spoke to his mother and his trial. After the war, during their eight year, Draco was alone. He was hated for his actions and inaction during the war, but Harry Potter was the only one to see Draco Malfoy under another light, as a boy who had no choice but to be part of something horrible. Despite how much Draco hated himself because he knew how unworthy he was, Harry helped him to know the feeling of being loved.

Love was such a foolish concept for Draco. He didn’t think about it, no matter how Harry used to hold his hand to share his Gryffindor’s bravery or when he acted so kindly towards him that the blond’s heart fluttered. Not even when they studied potions for hours because Harry wasn’t capable of remembering how meticulous every step of a recipe is. Lessons became quality time between friends and that quality time became a simple time where two lovers could reunite. All those kisses between them flooded back into Draco’s mind as he remembered how many Silencio spells were cast in empty classrooms or in their dorms. How enticing it was for them to hide from the others. Harry loved the risk and Draco was fond of him. He rapidly couldn’t wait for their next encounter, couldn’t wait to feel the lips of the boy who lived twice upon him, couldn’t wait to feel those annoying yet beautiful butterflies. At the end of their last year, Draco found himself wanting more with Harry, and Harry wanted to change their status of friends with benefits.

And Harry did

Draco looked at the blue sky of this perfect day one last time when Harry finally arrived at the aisle. And she finally appeared, wearing a wedding dress. How beautiful she was with her long red hair, that blushing face and those pink lips. She was everything that Draco wasn’t.

It was when Harry said “I do” that Draco could taste salt. A single tear fell on his cheek. The blond really wished that his friends would have come to accompany him for one of the most intense moments of his life, when he saw the man he loves marrying someone else. Draco felt utterly alone on Harry’s perfect day.
