Regulus’ head hurts, he can physically feel it pounding. Frankly, it’s annoying.

“Reg? You awake?” Someone asks from his left side, probably Barty considering the voice.

“I wish I wasn’t.” Regulus says, finally opening his eyes to the bright lights of the hospital wing.

“You passed out Reg, what the hell happened?” Dorcas asks, looking like she hasn’t slept in days.

“I’m fine, how long have I been out?” Regulus asks, sitting up so he isn’t looking up at them.

“Three days, and no you’re not fine.” Pandora replies gently. Regulus hears a door opening and closing gently in the distance while Pandora is talking.

“Alright, that’s enough. Mr. Black needs rest not to be nagged.”  Madame Pomfrey says clearly dismissing his friends. “But-” “No buts Mr. Rosier, he’ll be out soon enough you can nag him then.” Madame Pomfrey repeats.

Regulus is finally let out by Madame Pomfrey the next day, she wanted him to stay one more day for observation but Regulus definitely wasn’t about to sit in the empty hospital wing for another day. She also said that he shouldn’t go to class but when has that ever stopped him from doing something? Although she did only let him out after lunch probably trying to dissuade him from even thinking about going but Regulus isn’t exactly like the other students, he’d much prefer class to the isolation of his dorm room at this time

When Regulus gets to class he doesn’t miss the fact that everyone is avoiding him, not their stares though, even if they give him a berth of space their eyes still follow his every move. “Regulus! Madame Pomfrey already let you leave? Here I thought she was gonna hold you hostage for the rest of the week.” Evan remarks.

“Well, she was definitely trying to.” Regulus responds, not at all put out by Evan’s cheerful demeanour. “She told me not to come to class.” Regulus adds.

“Then why exactly, praytell, are you in class?” Dorcas asks.

“Because Madame Pomfrey isn’t my mother?” Regulus replies, shocked that Dorcas even has to ask, she should know better than to believe that Regulus is going to do something he doesn’t want to, even he admits he’s more stubborn than most.

Just as he goes to sit down a paper phoenix lands on the table in front of him. Regulus sighs, truly done with the day even though it’s just started.
