Karaoke Queens
Hello one and all, and welcome to Karaoke Queens, the second One-Shot collection from Blue Jerboa! This follows on – but is in no way a sequel – to the Fairy Lights collection I put together over Christmas 2024/25, which was an absolute heap of fun to write. I’m hoping that this will surpass it, though, as I’ve learned a few things from the errors last time out…
Firstly, I’ll be publishing the stories individually, with specific tags and summaries for each, to make warnings/tags/etc more specific and helpful for readers. The stories will be compiled in here as individual chapters, but tagging etc is obviously going to be less detailed in the compendium. I’m hoping this will give us the best of both worlds.
Secondly, I’m not going to bite off more than I can chew by taking some long book and trying to make a short story out of it. Sorry, Mr Dickens, but I’m not revisiting that again. Although I might yet turn it around for next Xmas as a standalone (warning you now so you can make other plans).
Thirdly, sadly, I feel it is unlikely I’ll be writing any more parody poems about the sexual habits of Momomori Momo. Once is more than enough. Unless you’re all desperate for them, in which case, hit me up in the comments.
This first chapter will serve as a contents page and summary of works to date and ideas I have in progress. I’m hoping this will very much be a collaborative effort, to reduce my workload and to improve the quality and quantity of writing. My absolute mega dream is that everyone takes a couple of weeks out of their usual schedule (particularly those of use with monster multi-chapter epics on the go, eh chaps?) and puts together at least one little story so we can really fill the archive with lots of new work. I’ll be cranking out as much as I can, anyway, but I could really use some company!
Format: Karaoke Queens is going to all be one-shots based on song titles, but otherwise doesn’t have to have much to do with the song itself (although knowing me I’ll probably try to be a smart-arse and work in further links into the story). I’ll be adding a lyric video to each so everyone can sing along! I don’t know how many I’m going to get done, but I’m hoping at least to hit double figures before I go back to the ‘day job’ of Part 3 of the Small Black Flowers saga.
