Freedom at last
"Uncle Severus! Where's the scissors?" I shout through the narrow hallways towards the small library finally finding him roaming around the room.
"Scissors? For what?" He replies by picking a book out from the shelf and analyzing it.
"Remember when—when you said you'd let me uhm... visit the Weasleys if I let you cut my hair..? I thought about it and...it wouldn't be so bad." I mumble picking on my jumper. I mean it's just my hair. It's not like he asked me to jump off a cliff.
The dull man looks up and catches my eye. He pulls out scissors from who knows where and strolls to behind a chair.
"Sit."
I obey and sit in-front of him. Before I could even acknowledge it, all the hair up to right above my shoulder was all gone.
I thought it would be a little trimmed.
"Long hair is distracting when in battle." The cold man explains while putting the scissors away.
"I doubt someone would get distracted by my hai-"
"Not the opponent, you," he sits on his chair and starts writing immediately. I would question it but I would rather not waste time.
"Does that mean I can...visit them?" Uncle Severus takes a deep breath.
"Send me a letter everyday. You got it?" He replies as he looks up to me with stern eyes.
YES!
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
Well I kind of went to go visit Harry instead and bring him with me. I'm standing right on his porch and looking around as the sun has just set. It's a beautiful night an— WHAT IS A FLYING LADY DOING UP IN THE SKY!?
That very second I see Harry exiting his house.
"Harry!"
"Cora!"
"Why is there an awfully round woman doing up in the bloody sky!?" As I say that the boy storms past me.
"I don't know, alright! It—it just happened." I followed him, grabbing my suitcase. I think it's best not to question it anymore.
"Alright. Let's just forget about it." I stammer. "I thought of taking you to the Weasleys myself but seems your already going somewhere." I chuckle nervously trying to ease the tension.
"I actually don't really know where I'm going-" Harry admits after a while.
"Good thing you're with me then," I elbow him lightly, smiling. After a little while we arrived at a park, a creepy one.
"Let's just sit and wait,"
"For what?" Harry asks. I opened my mouth to reply but something caught my attention in the bushes. Harry turns and notices too. A big black dog. I cast the lumos spell as I took out my wand. I get up trying to get a closer look.
"Cora, I don't think that's a good idea—" Harry addresses. Before I could get closer, I fell right beside Harry as I was suddenly blinded by a beam of light.
"This is what we were waiting for, Harry." I confirm covering my face from the blinding lights.
"Welcome to the night bus, my name is Stan shunpike and I will be your conductor for the night- '' Stan looks down to see the two of us on the floor.
"What choo two doin' down there?"
"Fell over," Harry replies as he attempts to get up with me doing the same.
"What choo fell over for?"
"We didn't do it on purpose" I say annoyed as Harry looks out to his left seeing if he could spot the dog again. I grab his elbow and shake my head when he looks at me, signaling that he should forget about it. I pull him onto the bus but Stan stops him at the front as I keep walking towards the back with my suitcase.
"Wots your name?" The conductor asks.
"Neville longbottom." Harry replies quickly. "How much?" The clueless boy inquired.
"Don't worry bout that lad. The girl already paid." Stan remarks as he gets on his seat. Harry turns to look at me as I smirk back at him.
"Hold on tight Harry."
"You could've—told me—to—hold—tight." Harry hissed as he caught his breath.
"I did," I conclude obviously as I lean against the wall.
When the boy finally catches his breath he opens his mouth.
"You know when I brought up Sirius black's escape...why did you look...upset." He stammered finishing the conversation from the drive.
"Sirius black is my father, Harry." I answer bluntly. "Black? Cora black? How'd you think I'd feel if my mass murderer of a father escaped prison and is probably going to—'' I cut off myself before I say too much to Harry.
"Oh yeah.."Harry mumbles. "Sorry 'bout that" he adds.
"Don't worry about it. Now since we're at diagon alley we should-" but of-course I get rudely interrupted.
"There you are harry!" Cornelius fudge steps in. "Come with me Harry.." Harry looks at me for help.
"Go on. I'll just find a room in the leaky cauldron." I insisted.
"Ooh room 11 is free by the way so when Harry's done he can meet you there," the old man chimed. "Come on then Harry my boy."
After a few dozen minutes Harry returned.
"So what'd the old man say?" I inquire, resting on my bed opposite from Harry's.
"He's not going to expel me from Hogwarts for blowing up my aunt!" He beamed as he went up to Hedwig's cage.
"That's perfect! Thank merlin you're famous or otherwise you'd be expelled years ago." I chuckle with harry joining in.
"Did you— did you do something with your hair?" Harry asks bluntly.
"Did you just notice now!?"
"I didn't have time to ask!" Harry tries to defend himself.
"Well as you can see I cut my hair."
The next few days were pure fun as me and Harry finally had a taste of freedom by walking around diagon alley and buying things we definitely don't need. I catch Harry staring endlessly at the horrifically expensive firebolt but I can't really judge as I've been staring at this expensive blue diamond necklace. It was absolutely beautiful but the price wasn't.
After we finished our staring we went to buy our spell books that we needed for school.
When we get out of the shop, Harry turns to me while walking.
"I forgot to ask but didn't you say you were going to see the Weasleys?" Harry inquired.
"Yeah I did, didn't I? Well I thought we should both maybe have some time off from someone bossing us around all day don't you think?" I reply smiling at him as I put my arm around his shoulder.
"Yeah..it's perfect."
After Harry had just tackled a large book, we both exit our room and we see a ginger cat and a rat scurry across our feet.
We follow the animals to see Ron and Hermione arguing at the bottom of the stairs.
"Harry, Cora!" The two shout.
After a moment of catching up while sitting on the table the faces you were waiting for appeared ever so suddenly.
I grab a picture of the Weasleys in Egypt and get up from my seat. Slightly moving away from them.
"Hello boys," I smirked, backing away as I brought the picture up to my face.
"You look incredibly handsome here George. And even more than—"
I got cut off by one of the shaggy haired boys. Fred.
"Don't finish that sentence, love," he replies slowly catching up to me. In a swift motion he picks me up as I start squealing in excitement, he grabs the paper from my hand and puts me down.
"Now come on, give us a proper hug, sparrow." I bring my arm up to go around his neck for a hug.
"You've both grown very tall, you both need to start bending down for me at this point," I blurt stupidly as I pull away and move onto George.
"Let's slow things down a bit shall we?" George replies with a stupid smirk.
"Oh you know what I mean!" I smack him lightly as I pull away. I turn to see Mrs Weasley smiling right at me.
"Ooh! Hello Cora. Lovely to see you again dear ," she beamed pulling me into a motherly hug. Woah.
"Fred you better not mess this up , she even got mum's approval." George jokes as Mrs Weasley pulls away.
"Oh shut up," Fred replies. I laugh in response. Oh what a good friend he is.
I look over Mrs Weasley's shoulder to see her husband smiling at me with Harry by his side.
"Nice to see you again Cora." He says as I grab his hand to shake.
"Uh nice to see you again too Mr Weasley," I greet with my awfully awkward smile. He smiles back and pulls away by taking Harry with him. When they moved away from the pillar behind them, a poster caught my eye. Sirius Black, wanted. I see him pleading for his life in the paper, as if he hasn't killed 13 people. Did he not at least think about me before he killed those innocent people. He missed 13 years of my life from something he could have easily avoided. After all, he's my blood. He'll always be my father, whether I like it or not.
"Cora black mum. Sirius black is her dad." I hear the whisper of one of the twins confide to their mother.
"Oh goodness me..poor girl," I hate it when people think I'm a lost puppy with nothing to help itself with, so I suck it up and turn to face them.
"Well family is family right! Nothing you can do about it now." replying with all the joy I can muster.
Hogwarts is going to absolutely murder me this year.
