It's been three weeks since Cedric died and he's returned to the Dursley's. He did the same old chores; cooking, gardening, and cleaning... the methodical work gave him time to think to himself especially since other than the occasional rude remarks he was left alone, and since no one bothered to contact him at all after summer began.
So Harry had free time to think about what happened during the final match and how easy he was kidnapped away from hogwarts. It was strange how Barty Jr. polyjuiced as MadEyed Moody raised no flags to Dumbledore despite them being apparently close. How did Dumbledore not realize something was off with his own friend? A person he's worked with and known for years?!
It made him think of the last few years in Hogwarts, there were deatheaters in other houses since he found out Barty was a RavenClaw yet only Slytherins were treated with disgust. There was also Trolls able to get into such a safe well guarded school and Voldemort as well being attached to Quirell. How had the Headmaster not known?
Harry also thought about everyone's reactions to him, why was he always thrown into the limelight? Why were books written about him despite them not even knowing who he was? Why are articles being formulated with false accusations and no first hand knowledge or interviews? Why do people's opinions of him change so quickly for baseless rumours? Even Ron his own best-friend had abandoned him and treated him so rudely during the tournament.
sighing harry finished mopping the kitchen floor and got to wiping down the marble counters lethargically. That was another thing, after whatever ritual Voldemort and Peter Prettigue did Harry's been getting tired easily. A few chores were now enough to tire him out now.
Harry put the mop away into the cleaning closet and put the rag he was using in the laundry before slipping off to Dudley's old toy room, now Harry's room. More like Harry's cage, with the bars, cat door and all the locks it was a cage to keep Harry trapped in. Harry dragged his trunk to the edge of the bed and opened it grabbing some of his old school books. He had nothing better to do than read them anyways.
He spent a few hours reading his 3rd year Charms textbook before setting it down once more. Settling at the window he watched as the sun started to fall and people began walking home with their families. Harry gazed blankly from the window of the bared up bedroom and sighed, it was a decent day out with a faint breeze and the soft heat of the sun...
What would things be like if he just... left?
Harry remembered the first time he willed his magic into letting him out the cupboard, he was 7 years old and had been locked away in there when Aunt Petunia had guests over. They had long since left but Petunia didn’t let him out for food or the bathroom the rest of the day. So that night while he was curled up hungry for food his magic obeyed.

The skinny 7 year old boy sat up and looked at the cupboard door that was unlocked and now slowly opening. Harry was fond of this moment because it was the first time harry was able to get away with eating a decent meal since Dudley had gotten caught eating some food right after harry hid back into the cupboard. It was early morning and harry had long since packed his trunk and tapped one of the runes professor lupin engraved in it watching the trunk shrink with ease.
Harry had dressed in fine clothing he wore during the triwizard tournament the only clothes he had that fitted him and slipped his invisibility cloak on over himself harry tucked the trunk into his pockets and willed his magic to unlock the numerous locks on Dudley’s 2nd bedroom.

Harry silently snuck past the door and down the stairs avoiding the steps he knew creeped under the slightest pressure. Stealing a few pounds from petunias purse Harry silently left through the back door knowing it was always opened and silently walked past the order members who were supposed to be guarding him. Order members who were sleeping on the job.
Sneaking out was ridiculously easy and Harry wondered why he hadn’t done so sooner. Walking quietly through the sidewalk harry waited until he was blocks away from Private Dr. before pulling off his cloak. It was early morning so Harry didn’t worry about any potential witnesses as he made his way past Tom’s pub and knocked on certain bricks to get into the wizarding world once more. Harry covered his scar wirh his long fringe and took off his glasses tucking them away as he walked through the mostly empty streets and to gringotts.
Soon Harry would be free. He’d be free from all of this.
