For Frodo.
If I lived in Middle-Earth,
A hobbit I would be.
With big, hairy feet.
And little pointy ears.
Baking bread, reading books.
Strolling around Hobbiton;
Happy as can be.
If I were a hobbit,
I wouldn’t be the norm.
Enjoying pranks and hijinks,
Causing chaos around the Shire
Alongside my brothers.
A carefree and simple life.
I’m as happy as can be?
If I were a hobbit,
The Shire would not satisfy.
Yearning for adventure,
For something more out of life.
Wishing to live out the stories
In my cozy, old books.
If I were a hobbit,
I would be the fifth.
Finally adventuring,
Outside of the Shire,
With my four best friends.
Hiking, camping, fighting, running.
Meeting a strider along the way.
If I were a hobbit,
I would offer no weapon but my wits,
To the Fellowship.
To protect the ringbearer.
To fulfill this quest.
If I were a hobbit,
I would fight alongside my brothers.
No matter hobbit, dwarf, elf, or man.
They are my brothers.
My family.
The family I always needed.
If I were a hobbit,
I would help until the end.
Either the Ring’s or my own;
Doesn’t matter which.
If I were a hobbit,
Off on a long adventure,
I would miss home.
Dreaming of strawberries and farming
Of the fresh gardens and the touch of grass
Of my cozy books and warm loaves of bread.
If I were a hobbit,
I would dream of the Shire.
Taken for granted, now lost to me.
If I were a hobbit,
I would happily give my life.
For the brothers alongside me.
For my king, now returned.
For the war we have been fighting for too long.
For Frodo.
