“Come ooon Moons, please?” Sirius complained, dragging out his vowels. He’s far too drunk by now.
“Absolutely not, why do you want to anyway?” Remus countered, less tipsy but starting to feel it creeping.
“Because, I want to know what your first impression was.” They had been sitting in their flat, getting wasted for no reason in particular other than to have some fun. Sirius had done this terrible dance routine and Remus had said something along the lines of Merlin, I was so far gone the first time I saw you. Then Sirius, being Sirius, had taken that as a sign to discuss their first impressions of each other.
Remus is sincerely regretting the decision to get drunk enough to let that slip. How is he supposed to tell the star sitting in front of him that those first years he got butterflies every time he would see him grin.
It would change everything. It took Remus a while to fully understand the strength of what he felt for Sirius. Every smirk, prank, laugh, God his laugh, he knew he would never be the same after he heard that sound. Everything that made Sirius Sirius had made Remus fall more and more in love.
Remus knew that Sirius didn’t feel the same until later on, and he doesn’t hold it against him, but just knowing Remus was pining after him from the start would be such a boost to his ego and such a hit to Remus’.
“No, I don’t want to.”
“Oh come on, I’ll tell you if you tell me.”
“Ok you go first then.” He knows it’s petty, but he needs to save himself the embarrassment.
“Ok fine. The first time I saw you, you were reading. Academic prude you were, knowing Aristotle and everything. I didn’t know how we would get along but I felt a tug at my chest, like a rope pulling me towards you. I didn’t know much, but I did know that no matter what, I needed to be around you.”
“My goodness Pads, you can be such a sap sometimes.” Remus taunts, feeling his cheeks pink nonetheless.
“And you, look so stunning when you blush.” Sirius hums, a smile ghosting across his lips. Nothing overly crazy, something only meant for Remus to see. “Anyways, it took me a while to figure out what that pull meant, but then I did…and here we are.”
“And here we are.”
“Mhm, now your turn.” Sirius nudges him with his toe. Remus thinks about what Sirius just said, it’s comforting to know he wasn’t the only one so far gone. That the feeling is mutual.
“Okay fine. The first time I saw you, you were sitting on your broom laughing. That sound, oh my god. You seriously knew how to ball by the way, a menace as a beater. Not only that, but you just knew how to make everyone love you, me no different. Then you turned around and I fell, I’ve never managed to get myself up again.”
“Okay, now who’s a sap?” Sirius says, smiling that shy smile again. The one everyone in the world needs to see. The one no one gets to, except for Remus.
“Alright, yeah yeah. C’mere.” He pulls Sirius in, kissing the smile right from his lips. He would be fine staying there, on the ground where he fell 15 years ago, for the rest of his life. Because he knows that Sirius is down right there with him.
