Chapter 9

Unknown to the silver-haired hunter, Sanguini had simply relocated himself to the guest room, where two men were patiently waiting for him. One of them wore the most adorable glasses he had ever seen, and he could feel his inner playboy emerging.

Sanguini grinned. It seemed Harry was right—he was going to have some fun this year.

"What's up, folks!" He appeared before them with a dramatic flourish.

"Sanguini-san!! Sanguini!"

"That boy is a delight."

"So, will you teach him?"

"Thank you so much, Sanguini-san."

"Aww... you wound me with this honorific, Kain. I can call you Kain, right?" And just because he was a little shit, he leaned in closer and whispered, "Would a beauty like you care to honor me with a dinner date? Hmm? After all, we’re about to share custody of Zero-chan. Shouldn’t we seal the deal with a relationship? What do you say, ah..."

He was immediately hit with a stinging hex and unceremoniously tossed onto the couch.

"Ahh... Harry, darling, you are always such a delight."

"Stop harassing my colleague, Sanguini," Harry deadpanned.

"Aww... who’s harassing anyone? I’m merely complimenting the beauty before me," he said, pointing to the blushing mess of a headmaster.

"Sanguini!"

"Okay, okay, no fun at all," he pouted, then his expression turned serious.

"That boy is something else. He was able to shake off Kuran’s command without effort and is still alive despite all these years. And with a temper to match his skill. Kain, you have raised him well!" He winked at the flustered headmaster.

"Th-thank you, Sanguini..."

"You should talk to him, Harry. The boy isn’t beyond help. If he’s considering the offer, it means his hatred hasn’t completely consumed him."

"Should I prepare for transfer of Zero-kun?"

"Eh?Why the boy is already intelligent he should be managing his estate, isn't he a lord?"

"But Sanguini, Zero is still a child no mater , how mature he is he is still a child"

"Kain my dear my beau, We children of night aren't something to coddled, we learn how to kill from birth" he grinned hus pointy canine on the didplay

"But.."

"Cross- san , Sangini is correct Children of night are genetically superior to humans and no matter what you think of Zero-kun, he is not a human, he is a teen, who just happens to be a child of night, he needs someone whose experience he coud connect with, Thats why Sanguini is here for."

"But how ,I always knows that night class are intelligent but they couldn't be that much mature?"

"Cross-san,Like newborn snakes, which are just as dangerous as their adult counterparts, the progeny of the Children of Night are born with strong survival instincts. Their blood curse forces them to stay alert and perceptive to their surroundings, constantly learning new skills to survive."

"Not the biological comparison I would have made, but accurate," Sanguinis mused."Afterall if I was snake I would be the most adorable one wouldn't you agree with me Kain"

"Sanguini!"

"Should I inform Kaname-kun of this development ''

"No Cross -san we must keep secret from him, and what's does Kaname-kun even had to do this!"

"But Kaname-kun is the president of the Night Class," Cross-san pointed out.

"Cross-san, let's discuss this after Zero-kun has made his decision."

"Okay, Harry-san."

"If that's all I would be going to find Zero-kun, god's know what type of damage control I have to do and you" he pointed at the smirking idiot"Don't molest my colleague " fully knowing that Sanguini wouldn't listen a bit to him but well, Cross-san is fully fledged hunter, he could handled Sanguini, Right?

"Now that everything is settled..." Sanguini clapped his hands together, then knelt before the headmaster with a dazzling smile that would have made Lucifer burn with envy. "Would you do me the honor of gracing me with your presence, my beau?" He kissed the blushing man’s knuckles.

"Ehh!?"

Harry found his wayward student on the balcony, gazing at the moon longingly.

"Zero-kun, how are you?"

"What do you expect me to say, Sensei?" he said sarcastically. "I’m fine as I ever will be. It’s not like I’m about to turn into a leech or anything."

"You already belong to the so-called leeches you despise," Harry replied. "Zero-kun, you are not human—don’t interrupt me. It’s simply unfair to judge an entire species based on a bad encounter, especially when your own ancestors were the same."

"The same?"

"Yes. Zero-kun, in the wizarding world, you would be called a Squib—someone born with a dormant magical core. You could still perform runic magic, but you’d never be able to conjure water from thin air.

Both hunters and vampires are descendants of Squibs. The difference is that one received guidance, while the other received prejudice."

"I’m sure Sanguini has already spoken to you about the origins of the first Children of Night."

Taking Zero’s silence as confirmation, Harry continued.

"Then you must also understand that the first Child of Night did not awaken to destroy humanity, but to seek justice for the torment he and his innocent family suffered. You are an intelligent soul, Zero-kun, but you must realize that you cannot judge an entire species based on unfortunate incidents. That would be like Sanguini judging all humans as rapists simply because he hunts them for feeding."

"So, should I just lay down and accept all of this?"

"No one is forcing you to blood-bond with Sanguini."

"And if I don’t take this offer, what other choice do I even have?"

"Then we will help you find Shizuka’s blood."

"But how!?"

"You see, there are certain perks to being a wizard."

"...Why are you even helping me?"

Zero hesitated, then suddenly asked, "Sensei?"

"Hmm?"

"Is Sanguini the Count?"

"No... Sanguini wasn’t the Count. His case is much more similar to yours."

"Did he also..."

"No! He wasn’t forced, even if the conditions of his turning were less than ideal. You’ll have to ask him yourself."

"I don’t think I made a great impression."

"You weren’t the best, but you also weren’t the worst."

"I’m confused, Sensei. I... I don’t know what I should do." For the first time in their conversation, Zero’s voice held vulnerability.

"Zero-kun, you have an entire life ahead of you."

"I’m afraid, Sensei. There is no life in my future."

"Zero-kun, do you know what happened next to the Count?"

"He continued sleeping in the coffin with his family?"

"Hmm... for a few decades. But you know, love is the most powerful force in this universe. The Count was annoyed by the intrusions, so he usually left the younger treasure hoarders to the sheriff. But one day, a group of youngsters abandoned one of their members in the graveyard where the Count resided, as part of a dare.

"The Count mistook the boy for a grave robber, so he grab him and teleport them to the sheriff office where he encountered a woman—the boy’s mother. Who was in tears but it was not he focused on

That young widow was the reincarnation of his lost lover. The woman thanked him and treated him at her bakery."

"...Then what happened?"

"They fell in love and lived happily together until she passed peacefully in her sleep. The Count had wanted to make her immortal, but she refused, saying she had lived a full and happy life. Saddened but understanding, the Count respected her wishes.

However, he didn’t isolate himself this time. He watched over the generations of their family, new descendants who welcome him with open arms. The Count found family again but still sleeps with the remains of his family.he found his second reincarnation of lover as a clumsy scholar with whom he traveled with whole world but even the scholar refused to turn immortal but he stayed till the scholar passed. But he was not saddened knowing that fate will reunite him with his lover again, he found his passion for knowledge again, with the support of his family and his renew passion his soul began to heal.He continued this cycle, reuniting with his reincarnated lover time and time again, each with different personalities but the same soul. He falls in love with each personality, his reincarnated lover helps him regain himself and when he finally encounter his lover who was finally born in an immortal body, a beautiful  fae, he was already a new healed person, together they travel, learn cultures and traditions and visit their families and be so hopelessly in love"

"And you know what the most important thing is, Zero-kun?"

Zero glanced at his Sensei, who stood bathed in moonlight, gazing at him softly. His breath hitched. He felt dizzy, blood rushing to his cheeks.

"They found happiness. And I think you, too, could find happiness. You only have to live."

"You have so many people—Cross-san, Kain-kun, Yagari-san... and, believe it or not, even Sanguini. And me."

"You?" He stammered.

"Yes. I admire you a lot, Zero-kun. Despite the world being against you, you haven’t lost your will. And I hope you never do. If you’re worried that after awakening, you won’t be a hunter anymore, you’re wrong. You are a hunter at heart—a protector of the innocent. Just think of yourself as a police officer who takes down lawbreakers."

"Even the Senate needs people like that."

"The choice is yours, Zero-kun."

Then, just like that, his Sensei vanished, unaware that he had once again turned Zero’s world upside down.

Two days later, a powerful Child of Night would awaken. But that is a story for another time.

Tonight, for the first time in his life, Zero would sleep with hope.
