Party at Gryffindor Tower

James was a little drunk. Well, maybe more than a little.

Gryffindor had just won the final Quidditch match of the year against Slytherin so of course, Mary had thrown a giant party in Gryffindor tower.

"Did she even come to the match?" Asked Remus, cracking a grin while watching Mary jump on the common room table, cheering something about Gryffindor being champions, although it was quite hard to understand her slurred speech, laced with fire whiskey.

"Don't think so." Replied James. He was feeling absolutely exquisite. "Although I was swoopin' round' on my broom, so it was hard to see anyway." Slurred James, clinging onto his best friends arms to keep him steady.

"Someones drunk." Exclaimed Sirius, helping James maintain balance.

"Nuh-uh!" Replied James, quite offended by this claim. "Only had 6 little cups, Padfoot." James continued, winking at his oldest friend.

"We believe you Potter." Spoke Remus, clearly joking, but James couldn't figure out why. He wasn't drunk, honest.

"So wheres Evans tonight?" Said Sirius, wriggling out from James's grasp.

"EVANS." Shouted James. He wasn't completely sure why, but he decided to go with it. "LILY EVANS OH HOW I LOVE YOU-"
Sirius whipped his hand out, covering James's mouth before he continued.

"Bloody hell mate she's not even over here!" Said Sirius laughing at his friends proclamation.

James started speaking under his best friend's hand, wriggling himself free.

"I swear Quidditch is easier than gettin' Lily to go out with me. Do you think she'll say yes if I ask 'er tonight? "

"Doubt it Prongs. You've asked her about 100 times." Spoke Remus, fire whiskey in hand.

Just as Remus spoke, Lily entered the common room, dressed in a sparkly gold dress, red hair slightly curled.

"What'd you know, you're drunk." Replied James, grabbing Remus's drink and taking a long swig. "I'm gonna go ask her out." He said, preparing himself to go into battle. "Oh and by the way Padfoot, you should save that hand-over-the-mouth maneuver for Remus." James finished, patting his friends on the back and making his way towards the middle of the common room. He reached the center table, stepping onto it while trying to not topple over.

"Oi that's my table you tosser." Giggled Mary, laying on the floor next to the table.

"Just need to borrow it for a minute." Said James, searching for Lily in the crowd of Gryffindor colors. Of course, he spotted her immediately, only having eyes for the blue eyed girl, even when heavily drunk.

"EVANS!" Screamed James, causing everyone to look in his direction, including Lily.

"Oh God this cant be good." Gulped Marlene, who had found her way over to her best friend.

"What are you doing up there?" Replied Lily, false anger betrayed by her smirk.

"Tellin' you that I'm in love with you." Said James, glee beaming off of him.

"You're drunk, Potter." Responded Lily, blush creeping up her cheeks.

"Maybe, but I've known this since the first moment I saw you." With that, James hopped off the table, liquid courage pumping through his veins.
James took 5 big strides, and stopped directly in front of Lily.

"Will you go out with me?" He spoke, holding his breath.

"Alright fine you idiot." Lily replied, wrapping her hands around his neck, and pulling him into a kiss. James felt more alive than ever, kissing Lily back as the common room erupted with cheers.

He didn't care if Gryffindor lost every other Quidditch match in the history of Hogwarts.
He'd already won.
