“Don't look now but your stalker staring at you again, Melissa,” my friend Brett said. Confused, I looked in the direction he had been looking to find one of my sister's friends, Emily I think was her name looking over at us.
“She's just a friend of Spence,” I said, waving it off like a big deal.
“I don't know, she always seems to be watching you,” my other friend Liz pointed out.
“Can't exactly blame her, can you?” I questioned while gesturing to myself.
“Like the kid would even have a chance,” my somewhat of a friend Ian voice. Ian was the guy every girl wanted to date. The guy every parent dreamed their daughters would date. I knew my parents in particular would lap it up if I end up with Ian. But I could never imagine myself with Someone like Ian, his ego was way too big for my liking. My group of friends all laugh at what Ian had said while glancing over at Emily. I saw the look on Emily's face as she turned away and went back to reading the book she had in front of her.
“She's got more of a chance then you do Ian,” I state while standing up I lightly punch his shoulder before making my way over to where Emily was sitting.
“Hey, you're a friend of Spence's aren't you?” I asked after tapping Emily on the shoulder.
“Hi. Yeah, I'm Emily,” she replied nervously, holding out her hand for me to shake. I could hear my friends all laughing in the background, which Emily Seemed to hear and she dropped her hand.
“Ignore them. They are all lovers. I don't even know why I bother with them all still,” I said, which was the honest truth.
“May I join you?” I asked.
“Sure thing,” Emily said while moving her backpack down onto the floor, opening up the seat closest to her for me.
“What are you reading?”
“Just something for English.”
“Where's Spencer and the others?”
“Spencer's in the Library and I don't know where the others are.”
“Of course my sister is in the library, I'm more surprised when she isn't in there then is there,” I said, making Emily laugh.
Emily then asked “Why are you over here talking to me instead of with your friends?”
“You seem far more interesting than they are.”
“I find that hard to believe.”
“Oh sweetie,” I said, finding Emily's lack of confidence in herself weirdly adorable. I don't know why I had come over To talk to Emily that day but I had and right now I am more than grateful and glad that I did.
Emily and I have been dating for two years, getting closer and closer to three now. We both couldn't be happier. Day by day, month by month and year by year, the love we have for each other just grows.
The End.
