Chapter 8- Harry

Harry thought that this holiday couldn’t get better. Well, he was in Paris! The city of fashion, je t’aime! As well as croissants?

His Moony and Dadfoot were also expressing more PDA than usual. Harry had seen them kissing more than once and immediately expressed his concerns. But today would be the best day yet. He would be meeting up with Pansy at the ‘Louvggrh’ or whatever his Dadfoot said. As Harry walked through the museum, he couldn’t help but to giggle at the naked statues.

“Pansy!” Harry shouts out, spotting the black-haired girl. His Moony and Dadfoot went over to introduce themselves to her parents, while Harry and Pansy dissolved into fits of laughter over the naked statues. Pansy’s mother looked at Harry and Pansy with a cross face.

“Honestly! What are they thinking, putting naked statues in a museum? There are children here!” Pansy’s mother complained disapprovingly. Harry noticed Pansy’s father rolling his eyes at her. Harry frowned.

Later, Pansy and Harry are at her hotel suite, courtesy of her parents, and writing a letter to Draco. Pansy’s room is extremely extravagant, with golden chandeliers and a bewitched ceiling. It reminds Harry of Hogwarts.

“Let me have it! I want to write to him!” Pansy shrieks. Harry and Pansy were writing a letter at the same time (a terrible idea), and Pansy had tried to take possession of the quill by pouncing on Harry extraordinarily like a rabid cat.

“Let me write my sentence first!” Harry shrieks back. Pansy then looks at him with that look, and Harry knows it’s time to run. He puts down the quill slowly and backs out of the room. Once he’s out of the room, he runs all the way to the end of the hall, where his room is, followed by shouts of “HARRY JAMES POTTER! GET BACK HERE YOU LITTLE-”

After a stern lecture from both of their parents, they decide to each write their own letter to Draco.

Dear Draco,

I hope you’ve been well. Me and Pansy are in France, causing trouble. I’ve discovered the wonders of croissants and meringue. Who knew how good a hard cream shell could be?

I hope to see you soon! I miss you!

Regards,

Harry

Harry leans over to see Pansy’s letter, but she hides it. Instead, he patiently waits for Draco’s response, ecstatic when he receives it.

Dear Harry,

I’m glad to hear that you‘re doing well. I’m just biding my time in Malfoy Manor. I hope you and Pansy won’t team up to create trouble, because you two are bad enough on your own. I miss you so much. I miss you and Pansy.

Draco

Harry, deciding to be the bigger person, lets Pansy read all the letters given to him by Draco, and Pansy does the same.

Dear Draco,

Harry and I have been loving it here. The amount of naked statues here is a bit outrageous though. I counted 45 yesterday, in just one exhibition! Anyways, good material to flex on Blaise later. Honestly I love the man’s face whenever I talk about my holidays, it’s so funny. I hope to see you again, I need to copy down your answers to the History of magic homework. I forgot my textbook and Harry won’t let me.

Pansy

Harry still isn’t allowed to look at Pansy’s letters to Draco. It’s making him roll his eyes at the sight of her writing one. At least she’s letting him read the ones sent back to her.

Dear Pansy,

Absolutely not. It is absolutely your fault that you forgot your textbook. I also think the amount of naked statues in Paris is outrageous. I hope that you're having a good time. I advise you not to be friends with Potter, he likes mudbloods.

Draco Malfoy

Harry looks up at Pansy in worry. Did Draco really think that about him? Sure he was friendly with muggle-borns, but Draco had never been opposed to it. Harry spares the courage to look up and Pansy’s eyes look like they’ve just seen a ghost. Harry is afraid to ask, but he doesn’t need to.

“This is Draco’s dad’s handwriting. I’ve seen it on official documents. Draco would never say something like that,” Pansy says, her voice trembling. Harry decides to believe that. He couldn’t- wouldn’t take the alternative.

As much as Harry like being in France with Pansy, all he really wants is to see Draco again. See his smile, hear his laugh. However, all thought of Draco are pushed to the bottom of his priority list when they go to the Alps to ski. Harry has never been more scared before, at least Pansy is screaming with him. His Dadfoot and Moony are pros, while Pansy’s parents decided to sit on the side and take care of Pansy’s baby brother, Rolfe.

“AAAAAAHHHHHHHH!” Pansy shrieks, for the eighth time that day. She had bumped into another tree, but she and Harry were getting better. Harry was now able to go 20 seconds before crashing into something. As Harry helps Pansy up by flinging her to the ground, Pansy almost pounces at him, but crashes into the snow instead. She glares at Harry for about five minutes, but eventually they dissolve into fits of giggles.

“Harry, Pansy,  you’re acting like 5 year olds. Want to go and get some hot chocolate?” His Moony asks while looking at them with mock disapproval. Pansy nods eagerly and Harry smiles. He knows how much his Moony loves chocolate, the house always smells like it. Harry never complains about it though, it’s very comforting.

After the alps, Moony and Pansy’s dad announce that they have to go home. The apparition is a sombre one, but Hogwarts starts in 3 weeks, so Harry and Pansy really need to get to Diagon Alley. Pansy makes the smart choice to write Draco a letter and assures Harry that they’ll see each other at Diagon Alley after the families separate. Moony and Dadfoot really got along with Pansy’s mum and dad, so much so that Dadfoot went as far as to schedule another vacation with them, and Moony suggested China.

Harry thinks to himself of how to ask Draco if the different handwriting had anything to do with him really not wanting to be his friend anymore or if it was something else.

Dear Draco,

Can we meet at Diagon Alley sometime, preferably next week? Pansy and I are back now. Was the break in your last letter you or you’re father? Well, we can talk about that when your getting you’re stuff. I’ve missed your eyes!

Regards,

Harry

Dear Harry,

We can definitely talk about that when we’re there. I have relayed the  plan to my parents and they have said next Tuesday at 9:00am in the morning. I’m excited to see you!

P.S: It’s your not you’re and you’re not your. Honestly, did anyone teach you proper grammar?

Draco

Harry laughed to himself and ran to tell his Dadfoot. Harry loved his Moony to death, but Dadfoot was much better at plans. Once Dadfoot and Draco’s parents had officially made the plans, which weirdly left Dadfoot looking disgruntled, they were set.

Harry was extremely excited that morning, and got up extremely early. He was waiting downstairs when his Moony walked downstairs. He looked extremely tired and he was wrapped in some bandages. He freezes as soon as he sees Harry.

“Up early, are we?” Moony asked cheekily. Harry’s eyes waved to his bandages and his Moony slid into the kitchen. Harry would ask Dadfoot about it later.

However, Harry had completely forgotten about this when he and Dadfoot went to Diagon Alley. His Moony stayed back, but that was at the back of his mind right now. Luckily, they had seen Pansy almost immediately and went to Flourish and Blotts together. His Dadfoot rolled his eyes in contempt at the list of books on his letter, they were all written by the same person.

Suddenly, Harry spotted a head of platinum-blonde hair and a pair of beautiful silver eyes he would recognize anywhere. He tried to get Draco’s attention, but his Dadfoot walked up to them instead, looking warily at Draco’s mother.

While Dadfoot and Mr. Malfoy were talking, Harry shifted his attention to Draco. Draco showed no signs of any animosity towards him and they walked around, buying things when they saw the shops. While looking for some potions ingredients, Harry decided to bring up the topic his mind had been preying on.

“So, about that letter you sent Pansy…the one saying that you didn’t want Pansy to be friends with me….” Harry trailed off, unsure of what to say. Draco’s eyes flit over to his fathers direction, and Harry can sense he doesn’t want to talk about it.

“Later,” Draco mumbles. Harry gazes at him worriedly but decides to let it go, and talks to Draco about his holiday instead. Draco seems to enjoy this change of subject.

“Did Pansy try to pounce on you? She’s honestly a lynx in human form!” Draco exclaims after Harry tells him that his Moony won a chess game against her.

“Yes, she did actually,” Harry replies. Draco smiles and crinkles appear next to his eyes. He wears happiness beautifully. Harry thinks to himself.

When Harry gets home, he’s greeted by a tight hug from his Moony and the strong smell of chocolate wafting around the house. His Dadfoot frowns at Moony, and Moony shoots some sort of look at him.

“Excited to go to Hogwarts?” Dadfoot asks. Harry nods sleepily. Yes, yes he was excited.
