Chapter 6
The next scene shows Rhodey talking to a group of soldiers. He asks if the future of air combat is manned or un-manned. Then says that in his experience no un-manned aerial vehicle will trump a pilots instinct, insight, judgement or the ability to look into a situation beyond what's obvious and discern an outcome.
Then Toni walks in and asks why not the pilot without the plane and then she shakes a soldiers hand.
Rhodey says to look who fell out of the sky, then he introduces Toni.
"How right you are." Toni says
"Yeah, you've made a habit of it. I'm honestly surprised that you haven't managed to get yourself killed with the stunts you pull." Rhodey replied.
Toni says speaking of manned or un-manned Rhodey should tell them about the time that he guessed wrong at spring break.
"Guessed wrong?" Ron asks
Toni says to remember spring break 1987 and reminds Rhodey of the 'lovely lady' he woke up with then asks what his name was.
Rhodey sighs at this
Rhodey tells her not to do that.
Toni asks if it was Ivan.
Rhodey tells her not to do that because the soldiers would believe it.
Toni tells the soldiers it was a pleasure meeting them.
Rhodey tells the soldiers to give them a couple minutes and turns to Toni and says he didn't expect her to be walking around so soon.
Toni says that she's doing a little better than walking.
"Injuring yourself further." Pepper says
Toni tells him that she's working on something big and she came to talk to him because she wants him to be a part of it.
Rhodey says that he's about to make a lot of people happy because what she pulled at the press conference was a 'doozy'.
"It changed the world." Ghost Spider mutters to herself
Toni says that this isn't for the military and that its different.
Rhodey asks if she's an humanitarian.
Toni says that she needs Rhodey to listen to her.
"Why are you shooting her down?" Lily asks
"I was worried she wasn't thinking straight," Rhodey says
Rhodey says that what she needs is to get her mind right and that it was nice to see her.
Toni thanks him and Rhodey leaves.
Toni is in her lab typing on a weird keyboard. She asks JARVIS if she's up. Peter was in the corner watching her
JARVIS says he always is and calls Tony 'Ma'am.'
Peter starts snickering at this, and Toni groans in embarrassment, knowing what's coming up
Pictures of the mark 1 Iron Man armor appear on the screens. Toni drags it to a table where it appears as a hologram. She says she'd like for JARVIS to open a new file, index as Mark two.
JARVIS asks if he should store it on the Stark Industries central database.
"NO!" Several people yell
Toni gets up and walks over to the table. Toni says she doesn't know who to trust so they should keep everything on her private server.
JARVIS asks if she's working on a secret project. Toni takes some things out of the armor and puts them in a holographic trash can.
Tony says that she doesn't want what she's working on to end up in the wrong hands and that maybe it could do some good in her hands.
"It did get stolen a time or two," Henry says
"By who?" James asks
"You'll see," Henry says
People are in a desert and they are digging. One guy holds up the face plate. They start speaking in a foreign language. Raza appears on screen with a large burn mark on the side of his face. The man who found the mask brings it to Raza.
"That's not going to end well." Remus says
Toni is working on a boot. Dummy is assisting her. Toni tells Dummy next then not in the boot then tells him right there and tells him to stay put, then that he's no benefit at all and tells him to move down to the toe and that she's got this.
"You're so mean to him." Henry pouts
"If he's no use then why is he there?" Remus asks
"He wanted to help." Toni says
Then she asks Dummy if she's in his way then tells him not to move before calling him a tragedy.
"Poor Dummy." Hermione says
Toni is standing in the middle of her lab wearing the boots with hand controls in her hands, dummy is behind her, U is behind the camera, recording. Toni tells her bots to do this right and to start mark, half a meter and back center. She tells Dummy to look alive because he's on fire safety, then tells 'You' to roll it.
"You named your robots Dummy and You?" Lily asks
"And Butterfingers."
"How did your kids end up with normal names?" Remus asks in shock
"Bruce stopped her. Toni originally wanted to name Henry 'Burnt Asparagus' Rhodey says, making Henry shiver in horror.
Peter and Harley snicker and Toni raises an eyebrow "Don't laugh, Bruce was the only reason you two aren't named Toasted Pickles and Roasted Chocolate." Toni says, earning confused looks from everybody "I have strange cravings when I'm pregnant."
"Who's Bruce?" James asks in interest
"Bruce Wayne, he's the Billionaire over in Gotham. He's their father." Toni says, a sad look in her eyes
She says she's activating hand controls and that they're going to start off easy with 10% thrust capacity.
"This isn't going to end well." Bruce says and Peter giggles "Nope."
She counts down from three. Toni shoots herself into the back wall of her lab and falls down. Peter runs over and kneels by Toni "Are you ok Mama?" he asks and Toni nods "I'm ok Pete." she says, pulling Peter into a hug Dummy sprays both mother and son with the fire extinguisher.
The whole room burst into laughter as Toni blushes in embarrassment
Toni is at her computer and working on blueprints for hand flight stabilizers. She puts her hand in the hologram.
She now has a physical one, she closes it around her arm. Pepper walks down the stairs with a box and coffee in hand. She walks over to him and says that she's been buzzing her and asks if she heard the intercom.
"Probably not." Natasha says
Pepper sets the box and coffee down and tells her that Obadiah's upstairs. Toni says that's great.
"No it's not." Toni says
Pepper asks what she would like her to tell him.
Toni says she'll be right up and lifts her arm off the table.
Pepper says she thought she was done making weapons when she sees what she's working on.
"It's not technically a weapon, although it can be used as one." Toni says
Toni says that its a flight stabilizer and that its completely harmless.
"I'm not sure its completely harmless," Steve said.
Toni activates it and sends herself flying backwards. She says that she didn't expect that.
Toni walks up the stairs. Pepper is sitting on the couch. Obadiah is playing the piano. Toni asks how it went, then she sees the pizza on the coffee table and decides that it went bad.
"How is Pizza a bad thing?" Clint says
"Obadiah would always bring food back when to soften the blow." Toni says
Obadiah says that just because he brought back pizza from New York doesn't mean that it went bad.
"Yes it does." Pepper said. Obadiah bringing back food after bad meetings was something she picked up on pretty quickly after she started working for Toni.
Toni grabs a piece and says 'sure it doesn't'.
Obadiah says that it would have gone better of Toni was there. Then he stands up from the piano bench.
"He got his filthy germs over my beautiful piano." Henry says
"Your piano?" Hermione asks
"When Henry and the twins were little I spent most of the time with Henry teaching him how to play. Gave it to him on his 10th birthday as a gift." Toni says
Toni takes a bite of her pizza. Tony reminds Obadiah that he told her to lay low.
Obadiah walks over to the couch. Obadiah says that he meant in public and tells Toni that this was a board of directors meeting, much to Toni's shock.
"I'm guessing he didn't tell you that." Lily says
"No he didn't." Toni grumbled
Obadiah says that the board is claiming post-traumatic stress and that they're filing an injunction.
Toni asks for clarification.
Obadiah says that they want to lock her out.
"More like you wanted to lock me out," Toni grumbles
Toni asks if it was because the stocks dipped by forty points, but that they knew that would happen.
Pepper says it was actually fifty-six and a half.
Several people wince at that
Toni says that it doesn't matter because they own the controlling interest in the company.
Obadiah says that the board has rights too, and that they're making a case that her new direction isn't what's in the company's best interest.
Toni says that she's being responsible and that's a new direction for her, she backtracks and says the company then says she meant him on behalf of the company. Then gets up to leave, with the pizza box.
"This is going well." Peter says
Obadiah chases after her. Toni says she'll be in the shop.
Obadiah says that he's trying to turn this around and that Toni needs to give him something to pitch and tells him to let him have the engineers analyze the arc reactor and draw up some specs.
"Absolutely not." Bruce says
"That's a terrible idea," Henry says
Toni says no.
Obadiah says it'll give him a bone to throw to the boys in New York.
Toni says that this one stays with her and tells Obadiah to forget it.
Obadiah takes the pizza and says that it stays with him.
"God Henry was more mature than this even when he was in his moody teen phase." Toni says
Obadiah tells Toni to take a couple pieces.
"Oh how considerate." Clint said, sarcastically.
Tony thanks him and goes down stairs.
Obadiah asks if he can come see what Toni's working on.
Toni bids him goodnight.
Toni is standing in his lab, in front of a lot of nice cars with the flight stabilizers on. Dummy is behind her, U is beside him, recording.
"Those are some nice cars." Sirius says
Toni says that this is day 11, test 37 and its configuration 2.0.
"Damn."
She says that for lack of a better option, Dummy is on fire safety and tells Dummy that if he douses her again and she isn't on fore he's being donated to a city college.
"You wouldn't do that you love him to much." Henry says
He says that they're gonna start out with 1% thrust capacity.
"Not 10%?" Henry asks smirking and Toni narrows her eyes "You be quiet or I'll show everyone your baby pictures. That includes you two." Toni says, looking at her sons
"You wouldn't." Henry gasps
"You couldn't." Harley asks
"That's inhumane." Peter says
"Try me." Toni says
"Ah, nice to know that works on Arsenal." Scarlet Spider muses
She counts down from three and activates the stabilizers and hovers about 2 feet in the air for a few seconds. She lands and stumbles a bit. She turns to Dummy and says not to follow her around with the fire extinguisher because she feels like she might spontaneously catch on fire.
"Has that happened before?" Lily asks and Toni nods
She tells Dummy to stand by and come in if something happens. Then says they're gonna up thrust capacity to 2.5 and activates the stabilizers.
She starts flying backward and ends up over the cars and says that that's not where she wants to be.
"Uh oh."
Then she flies over to her desk and a few papers go flying off of it. She says that it could be worse and that they're fine. She makes her way back over to Dummy and lands, not without stumbling. She yells at Dummy who was about to spray her.
"Damn." Sirius says, wishing Dummy had sprayed her again
She says that she can fly.
Toni is now getting completely suited up and asks JARVIS if he's there.
JARVIS says he's at her service.
Toni says to engage heads up display and import all preferences from home interface.
JARVIS says he will do that.
JARVIS says that he has been uploaded and that they are online and ready.
Toni asks to start the virtual walk around.
JARVIS says he's importing preferences and calibrating the virtual environment.
Toni says to do a check on control surfaces.
JARVIS complies and says the test is complete and says preparing to power down and run diagnostics.
Toni says to do a weather and ATC check and to start listening in on ground control.
"Bad idea." Bruce says
JARVIS says that there are still terabytes of calculations before actual flight.
Toni says that you have to run before you walk sometimes.
Toni counts down from three and flies out of her garage with a yell of excitement. She flies over the ocean. She says the suit handles like a dream. She flies over to a Ferris wheel, two kids are eating ice cream, the little boy's ice cream falls out of the cone.
"No the Ice Cream!" Harley yells, wiping a fake tear
Toni says they should see what the suit can do and asks for SR-71s record.
"Oh no." Lily says
JARVIS says that the altitude record for fixed wing flight is 85,000 feet.
Toni says that records were made to be broken.
"You're an idiot." Pepper says
Toni keeps flying straight up. JARVIS says that there is a potentially fatal build up of ice on the suit.
Toni says to keep going higher.
"WHAT?" Lily yells
The suit loses power and Toni starts to fall, she screams. She says that they iced up and tells JARVIS to deploy the flaps and that they need to break the ice.
"You're an idiot," Natasha says, agreeing with Pepper
Toni hovers over her roof and says to kill the power. She falls through the roof and the piano on the second floor and lands on one of her cars.
"The car no!" Sirius yells in horror.
Dummy sprays her with the fire extinguisher, Toni throws her head back in exasperation. "Che cazzo è successo al mio cazzo di pianoforte?" Henry could be heard yelling several floors above.
"You speak Italian?" Hermione asks in surprise and Henry nods "Mom and Dad made sure we knew several languages growing up. I know Spanish, Italian, French, Russian, and Korean along with English. Peter knows Japanese, Greek, Mandarin, Hungarian and Chinese with English. Harley knows Polish, Hebrew. Thai, Turkish, and Finnish along with English." Henry says
"What did you even say?" Ron asks
"He said "What the fuck happened to my fucking Piano?'" Toni says in amusement
Everyone laughs except for Molly who purses her lips in disapproval
