Chapter 4
The next scene is in Toni's first person perspective. She's lying on a bed There are people performing surgery on her. The voices are muffled. Toni is screaming. When they're done they knock her out.
"They did that to you in a cave?!" Strange asks
"That's inhumane." Clint says
"What? Without putting you to sleep first?" Bruce asks but they stop at the look on Toni's face
"Let's keep watching." she whispers
Toni is now in a bed, awake. She feels the tube in her nose and goes to pull it out. She then tries to grab a glass of water but just ends up knocking it over.
Several people grimace at the sight of her pulling the tube out of her nose
She pulls at the wires that are coming out of her chest when she turns over.
Yinsen, sitting at the side of the bed tells her that she shouldn't do that.
Toni looks sown at her chest and takes notice to the bandages. She pulls at them, sees the electromagnet and faints.
"What the hell did he do to you?!" Lily yells in horror
"He saved my life."
"Is that why you have the-" Harry gestures at his chest and Toni nods
A little while later, she wakes. Tony sits up and asks what Yinsen did to her.
Yinsen says that what he did was to save Toni's life, he tells Toni that he removed all the shrapnel that he could but there is some left and it's headed into his atrial septum and asks if Tony wants to see it. Yinsen holds out a glass bottle with small pieces of metal inside of it.
"That's in your body?" Sirius asks in horror and Toni nods
Yinsen says its a souvenir and tells Toni to take a look, then tosses the bottle to Tony.
"That's a morbid way of looking at it." Henry mumbles
Yinsen says that he's seen wounds like that where he's from and that they're called the walking dead because it takes a week for the shards to reach the vital organs. Toni inquires about the device currently in her chest. Yinsen tells him that its an electromagnet hooked up to a car battery and its what's keeping the shrapnel out of her heart.
"A cat battery?" Bruce yells
Toni looks down and zips up her jacket. She then looks up and notices the camera. Yinsen notices and tells her to smile.
"That was kind of creepy," Alexander mutters
Yinsen tells Tony that they've actually met before and that it was at a technical conference in Bern.
Toni says that she doesn't remember.
"Of course you don't." Rhodey says but he does. Toni had met a biologist and her weird plant.
"God, that asshole caused show much promise for us." Iron Man mutters, the Mandarin was a pain in the ass
Yinsen says that she wouldn't and that if he had been that drunk he wouldn't have been able to stand let alone give a lecture on integrated circuits.
"You gave a lecture while drunk?" Molly asks
"One of many."
Toni asks where they are but her question goes unanswered when a commotion is heard outside of their room.
Yinsen rushes over to help her stand, then tells her to stand and to do as he does and put her hands up.
A man starts talking in Arabic.
Toni notices her guns and asks how did these people get them.
"It's not that surprising you did build weapons for a living," Natasha says
"I was naive back then." Toni says
Toni asks what the man is saying. Yinsen translates and tells her that he said welcome Toni Stark the most famous mass murderer in the history of America.
Toni winces at that. A long time ago she might've been proud of that title but now so much has changed and she's glad for it
Yinsen continues translating and tells Toni that he said he is honored and wants Toni to build the Jericho, the missile he demonstrated then he hands Toni a picture.
Toni says she refuses.
"That is not what you say to your captors." Clint yells
The scene cuts to Toni being tortured. She is dunked head first into a tub of water. In her heads he hears Pepper yell her name Then the car battery shorts.
"You heard me?" Pepper asks and Toni nods
The future Avengers sigh, they were glad they refused to let their kids in the viewing room with them
The scene now shows the men leading Toni and Yinsen out of the cave, the former has a sack on her head.
"Was the sack really necessary?" Pepper asks
"They didn't want me to the way out, lucky for me, there's more than one way to figure it out." Toni says
When they reach the outdoors someone takes the sack off of her head. Toni sees that there are a lot of Stark Industries weapons there.
A man starts speaking in a foreign language.
Yinsen translates, telling Toni that the man wants to know what she thinks.
Toni says she thinks they have a lot of her weapons.
"You're not wrong." Natasha says
Yinsen translates again, telling Toni that the man says that they have everything she needs to build the Jericho and he wants Toni to make a list of materials and to start working immediately and when she's done they will set them free.
"No they won't." James says
Toni says that they won't, Yinsen agrees.
The Stark brothers frown, they weren't used to seeing their mom so hopeless, they didn't like it
Toni shakes the man's hand.
The scene changes. Toni is sitting in front of a fire. Yinsen tells her that he is sure people are looking for her but they wont find her in the mountains and says that what she just saw was her legacy in the hands of murderers and asks if thats how Toni wants to go out and if its the last act of defiance from Toni Stark or is she going to do something about it.
"Talk about tough love." Harry mutters
Toni asks why she should do anything, and that they're both going to be killed and if they aren't she's going to die within the week anyway.
Lily lets out a little whimper at that
Yinsen says that its a very important week for her.
A few people smiled
The scene changes to Toni giving orders to everyone while Yinsen translates. Toni says that if this is her work station she needs it well lit she needs welding gear, she doesnt care if its acetylene or propane and that she needs a soldering station, helmets, goggles and two sets of precision tools. "And I want a nice set of clothes, including undergarments. I'll list mt size, I wear silk, a coffee brewer, good toiletries, and a washing machine. And what the fuck did you people do to my watch?" It's worth more than all of you combined. Oh and don't you fools forget tampons." Toni says
Everyone looks at Toni in shock in how she's ordering the people around. "Are you really building the weapon for them?"
The scene cuts to Toni breaking down one of the bombs. Yinsen is watching her. Toni asks how many languages he speaks.
Yinsen answers her by saying that he speaks a lot but not enough for where they are, and tells Toni that they speak Arabic, Urdu, Dari, Pashto, Mongolian, Farsi, and Russian.
"That's a lot of languages," Alexander says
Tony asks who those people are. Yinsen tells her that they're her loyal customers and that they call themselves the Ten Rings.
"Not my loyal customers." Toni mutters, as the several of the future Avengers look alarmed at the mention of the Ten Rings
Yinsen tells Toni that they would be more productive if he was included in the planning process. Toni nods and says nothing.
Toni pulls part a bomb out before tossing it away and saying that they don't need it.
She then holds up a small square of metal. Yinsen asks what it is.
Toni tells him that its palladium and its .15 grams and that they need 1.6 then tells Yinsen to break down the other eleven bombs.
"Palladium what do you need that much for?" Bruce asks
Toni gestures towards her arc reactor
"Tell me that's not in your-" Strange says
"Not anymore." Toni says
"Toni that metal is toxic." Bruce says
"I know."
The scene shows Yinsen pulling a smelting cup out of a fire. Toni tells him to be careful because they only have one chance.
Yinsen tells her to relax and that he has steady hands and thats why Toni is still alive. Then he pours what's in the cup into a mold.
Toni asks Yinsen what she should call him.
Yinsen tells Tells Toni his name.
Toni says its nice to meet him. Yinsen repeats the phrase.
A few people smile at the scene
Toni is shown putting together an object. Yinsen says that it doesn't look like the missile.
"That's because it's not." Henry says
Toni says its because its a miniaturized arc reactor and that she has a larger one powering her factory.
"You built that in a cave?" Everyone except the people who already knew yell
She continues by saying that it should keep the shrapnel away from her heart.
Yinsen asks what it could generate.
Toni says that of her math is right before commenting about how it always is, the reactor could generate 3 gigajoules per second.
Yinsen says that it could run her heart for fifty lifetimes.
"That's like 4,000 years," Peter says
Toni agrees before saying that it could also run something larger for 15 minutes. She shows Yinsen some papers and says that this is their ticket out of there and grabs some sheets of paper to show Yinsen. Yinsen asks what it is. Toni tells him to flatten them and look. The papers are blueprints for a suit.
"You did that in a cave too?" Lily asks and Toni nods
Yinsen and Toni are playing a board game. Yinsen compliments Toni's roll as Toni takes one of his pieces.
Toni says Yinsen hasn't told her where he's from.
Yinsen says he's from Gulmira and that its a nice place.
Toni asks if he's got a family.
Yinsen says he does and he'll see them when he leaves this place, then asks if Toni has a family.
Toni says she has three boys at home
Toni and Yinsen are seen working on the iron man suit through the camera in their room. People are talking about how she isn't building it, and that the tail is all wrong.
"God they're dumb." Clint says
"They haven't got any smarter." Spider-Woman mutters
Toni and Yinsen continue to work on the suit, then Raza walks through the door. Yinsen and Toni put their hands up. Raza tells them to relax. Toni and Yinsen hesitantly put their hands down. Raza says that the bow and arrow was once the pinnacle of weapons technology.
"It still packs a punch if you use it right." Clint says defensively
He continues by saying it allowed Genghis Khan to rule from the pacific to the Ukraine.
"I don't think Genghis Khan can be considered great." Steve says
"Who is Genghis Khan?" Ron asks but is ignored
He says that it was an empire twice the size of Alexander the great and four times the size of that of the Romans. Then he says that today whoever has hold of the most recent Stark weapons rules the lands and says that it will be his turn soon.
"No it won't be." Steve says
Raza takes notice to Toni's blueprints and asks, in a foreign language, why they've failed him.
Yinsen says, in a foreign language, that they're working diligently.
"Yeah just not what he wants you to work on." Pepper says
Raza says, in a foreign language, that he let him live and this is how Yinsen repays him. Then walks toward him.
Yinsen says, in a foreign language, that its complex and they're trying very hard.
Toni looks around the room. A man grabs Yinsen and forces him to his knees.
Several people gasp
Raza asks, in a foreign language, if Yinsen thinks he's a fool then says that he'll get the truth.
Yinsen says, in a foreign language, that they're both working. A gun is pointed at his head.
Raza pulls a hot coal out of the fire and tells Yinsen, in a foreign language, to open his mouth.
Toni asks what Raza wants.
Raza says asks, in a foreign language, if Yinsen thinks he's a fool and asks what's going on and tells Yinsen to tell him the truth. And lowers the coal to Yinsen's mouth.
A few people wince and Harry covers Charlie's and Alexander's eyes
Yinsen says, in a foreign language, that Toni is building the Jericho.
Raza tells Yinsen, in a foreign language, to tell him the truth.
Yinsen tells Raza, in a foreign language, that Toni is building the Jericho.
Raza moves his hand closer to his mouth.
Toni moves closer and asks if Raza wants a delivery date.
"Bad idea." Natasha says
The men by the door all point their guns at her. Toni says that she needs Yinsen because he's a good assistant. Raza drops the coal.
Everyone lets out a breath of relief
Raza says that they have until tomorrow to assemble the missile. Then Raza leaves with his men.
"Well he's a little intelligent." Steve says
The scene cuts to Toni banging on a piece of metal with a hammer. She then dips in into water and puts it on the table that Yinsen is working at. The scene shows Toni wrapping her hands in tape. In the background Yinsen is lifting up chest piece. Toni is putting a coat on now. Yinsen helps Toni put gloves on. He then fastens something around Toni's neck. Yinsen lets the chest piece down and onto Toni.
"Is that the first suit?" Natasha asks and Toni nods "Yes though it's been heavily refined." she says
Yinsen asks if she can move. He makes a fist for emphasis. Toni makes a fist in response. Yinsen tells her to repeat their escape route.
Toni recites 41 steps forward then 16 steps from the door, fork right then 33 steps then turn right.
"You remember that?" Clint asks
"Genius remember?" Toni asks
Raza walks up to the screens that show the camera feed he asks, in a foreign language, where Stark is. He asks a man next to him.
The man says, in a foreign language, that she was there a moment ago.
Raza tells them, in a foreign language, to look for her. Two men run off to the entrance to the cave. Raza continues looking at the screen that shows Yinsen working on the suit.
The men run up to the door calling for Toni and Yinsen.
Tony tells Yinsen to say something back to them.
Yinsen says that they're speaking Hungarian and he doesn't know the language.
Toni tells him to speak Hungarian.
Yinsen tells her he knows something.
Toni asks him what he knows.
Yinsen says something in Hungarian.
The camera shows a makeshift bomb tied to the handles. The men open the door and the bomb goes off, throwing the men back.
"Nice."
Raza is looking at the camera as the explosion happens, the feed is cut. He sends more men to the room. Toni asks how it worked.
Yinsen says it worked alright.
Toni says that that's what she does.
Rhodey and Pepper both sighed.
Yinsen tells her to let him finish the setup.
Toni says to initialize the power sequence.
Yinsen turns away and goes to the laptop on the table and asks Toni to tell him what to do.
Toni says Function 11 and tells Yinsen to tell her when he sees the progress bar and that it should be up.
Yinsen says he does.
Toni tells him to tell him when he has it.
Yinsen says he has it as a progress bar pops up on the screen.
Toni says to hit 'I' then 'Enter' and tells Yinsen to button her up.
Yinsen says that they're coming.
Toni tells him to finish buttoning her.
Yinsen says they're coming.
Toni says to make sure that the checkpoints are cleared before she follows him out.
Yinsen tells Toni that they need more time.
"He should have stuck to the plan." Toni whispers
The men start running down the 'hallway'. They run back, this time being chased by Yinsen. Yinsen continues running, still shooting when he comes to a stop. The camera pans to show a group of men with their weapons pointed at him.
"This won't end well for him." Clint says
The computer is shown, the progress bar is filled up and the power in the cave drains.
5 men run into the cave and notice the 2 dead men on the ground. They slowly start to enter the cave. The screen shows Toni clenching her fist. One man takes notice to her as the arc reactor glows. Toni throws him across the room.
"Damn." Harry says
The men start shooting wildly around the room. Toni comes up to them and throws them around. She walks down the hallway to a man that is still shooting at her. The leftover men start running away. They run into a room and lock themselves in. Toni starts to bang on the door and it eventually opens. The men run. Toni swing at one of them and got her arm stuck in a crevice.
"Oh no."
As she tries to get it out a man shoots at her. The bullet ricochets off of the helmet and hits the man instead. Raza walks out with a gun in his hand. Toni walks out and sees Yinsen lying injured on the ground. Raza shoots. Toni shoots back. Raza leaves.
Toni walks over to Yinsen, who greets her.
Toni tells him that they have to go and that they had a plan and they need to stick to it.
Yinsen says that this was always the plan.
Dumbledore nods, already figuring out that Yinsen's family is dead
Toni says Yinsen is gonna see his family and tells him to get up.
Yinsen tells Toni that his family is dead and that its okay he wants this.
Toni thanks Yinsen for saving her.
Yinsen tells Toni not to waste her life. Yinsen dies.
"He didn't deserve that." Steve says
Toni looks anywhere but the screen and Pepper gives her hand a squeeze
Toni gets up quickly and walks out of the cave. People start to shoot at her. Toni says its her turn. Then she starts to light everything on fire.
"You're scary when you're mad." Harry says
A man on the top of a hill starts to shoot at her. Other people start as well. Toni falls to her knees. Then the explosives start going off. Toni gets up. Toni presses something on the arm of her suit and flies away.
"That thing can fly?!" Several people yell in shock, never seeing someone fly without a broom before
Toni stays in the air for a few seconds then starts falling to the ground. The suit fell apart on impact. Toni looks around before saying that it wasn't bad.
"Oh." several people say
Toni is walking in the desert with her jacket tied over her head. Her arm is covered in blood. Then two helicopters are seen flying over a hill behind him. Toni waves up at them.
She yells out and falls to her knees. She holds out a peace sign.
The helicopters land and a group of soldiers get out including Rhodey. They run over to her. Rhodey asks how the fun-vee was.
"Not very fun." Toni says
Toni gives a fake laugh. Rhodey tells Toni that she's riding with him next time. They hug.
"that's one way to greet your friend after being missing for three months." Clint says
"Three months?" The Potters yells and Toni nods
