Narcissa threw her head back as the girl kissed down her neck and reached out to grab the girl’s hips then-
“Cissy?”
The door banged open and a silhouette of big curly hair and long, dark robes was illuminated from behind.
Narcissa shoved the girl away, knocking her to the floor.
“Bella!”
Bellatrix flicked her wand, filling the room with light and turned to the terrified girl on the floor, who appeared to share Narcissa’s thought that some terrible curse was coming. After all, Bellatrix did have a reputation and was fiercely defensive of her youngest sister.
But she only muttered, “leave,” letting the girl scurry out like a prey animal and using her wand to slam the door behind her, Narcissa heard the click of a lock.
Despite everything about her, Narcissa had never really been afraid of her sister before, she had never had any reason to direct her anger toward her, but now she was terrified.
As she advanced on her, lowering her wand, so the threat was less active, Narcissa swallowed and mustered the courage to speak. “Bella I- you… you wouldn’t tell mother would you?”
Bellatrix laughed, the laugh was cold and humorless, but that was Bella’s natural state. “Oh Cissa, you think so little of me.”
She sat on the bed next to Narcissa.
“I don’t want to be like this, Mother always says that I will be a perfect housewife and mother and that’s what I want, really it is, but I can’t seem to make myself feel that way about a man!” The words rushed out of her mouth like they had been trapped there for years.
Bellatrix just rolled her eyes, “Cissy, the key to a good life is to make your own rules and to know how to avoid being caught.”
Bellatrix reached out to smooth her hair- the straightening spell she had put on it was wearing off and the back, which had just been pressed against a wall, was probably a bit wild.
“So you want to kiss girls and run a respectable household, you need to find a man that wants the same- you know, Dromeda caught Lucius Malfoy in a broom closet with the Ravenclaw seeker during her rounds a few weeks ago. And the Malfoys are a good family, wouldn’t you like to live in Malfoy Manor and buy whatever you like? Besides, he looks like a girl, really, so he’s your type already.”
“Bella!” Narcissa admonished, but she smiled.
“And he’s a good pureblood, a family friend of Rudolphus and we see him at meetings,”
Even in this moment, she took the opportunity to flaunt her fiancé and slightly angled her left hand so that her ring flashed. Narcissa didn’t like the man and the way he tended to leer at her at family dinners, but of course it wasn’t her place to contest the match.
If her face changed at his mention, Bella didn’t seem to notice as she kept talking, “If you’d like, I bet I could get Mother and Father to set you up, maybe even make them think it was their idea.”
The Blacks really weren’t the type of family to show any physically affection, but Narcissa grasped her sister’s hand tightly, still in shock that her life wasn’t over as she was so sure it would be.
“Thank you Bella, I’ll talk to him.”
She wanted to hug her sister but thought that might be too far.
“Of course, what are older sisters for.”
