Gryffindor's common room was known by all Hogwarts students for its amazing parties. And If, like that night, Gryffindor had just won a Quidditch match, everyone in Hogwarts was sure something massive was about to happen.
The common room had been decorated in red and gold and someone had put a charm on a huge lion statue so that it served all the students color themed cocktails. A student from fifth year had borrowed all the vinyls available and was sitting next to a vinyl player, choosing the perfect tracks so that a large group of people could dance.
On the opposite side of the room the space was quieter, with groups of students chatting on soft velvet armchairs. Between the few groups of teens, everyone just wanted to be in the Marauders' one.
They were a group of sixth years, really popular between all four houses. The main character was definitely James Potter, the Quidditch captain, prefect and future head boy. He sat in the center of a couch, a bit too drunk, between Lily Evans and Regulus Black. The three of them were chatting and James couldn't stop trying to make avances to both of them, though his flirting skills were so obvious both Lily and Regulus thought it was just a bit too much alcohol.
Lily was a really nice girl, especially that night in her red flowered dress with flared sleeves. She was well-known in the entire school for being really smart but also really gentle and kind. While Regulus wasn't really popular, people only knew him for being Sirius Black's brother.
Only thinking about that name made Remus smile.
Sirius motherfucking Black, who was currently sitting so near Remus could feel his breath.
- Moony - The black haired boy called with a voice that showed he was a bit (maybe a bit too much) tipsy - you got to try this. I can't understand the flavor.
Remus, who was sitting with him on an armchair, grabbed the glass and drank a bit of the drink, then made a disgusted face.
- This is the worst thing I've ever tasted. Let me try the gold one.
Sirius raised an eyebrow. - There's no way this will happen, stand up and take your own from the lion.
- Come on Pads, do you know that in order for me to stand up and take my own drink you have to stand up and let me go?
The two boys indeed were sharing an armchair that definitely wasn't made for two people, so Sirius was sitting on Remus' lap. A few months before they would have never done that, they had been so scared people would find out about their relationship. But it wasn't so easy to stay in the closet so in a short time they just stopped hiding it. Not like they wanted everyone to know, they still cared about their privacy. But If someone did know they wouldn't have cared.
It wasn't that uncommon, they were still in a boarding school and even if there were plenty of girls they definitely weren't the only gay couple in school. Everyone had heard all the rumors about Evan Rosier and Barty Crouch, two Slytherin fifth year's students. Sirius had asked Regulus, who also was a Slytherin's fifth year student, for what seemed like an infinite amount of time to confirm whether the gossip was true or false.
But Regulus was a pretty shy and introverted boy so he wasn't really friend with anyone in his house.
The younger Black son had also been invited to the Griffindor's house party and he had to sneak out of his dorm.
- Drink from my glass then - Sirius accepted - but let me tell you you're high-maintenance.
Remus laughed and grabbed his boyfriend's glass. The taste was definitely better, strong but also really fruity and refreshing.
Sirius pointed to a spot on the other side of the room.
- Do you see what I see? - he asked
- I see a table, if you see something else you're definitely too drunk.
- I see an empty table.
Remus laughed - And so what?
It took him the time of the question to figure out the answer. - Are you going to sing? - he asked again.
Sirius had now a grin on his face. - Yes I am.
Then he stood up, left the two cocktails on the coffee table next to the armchair, and walked to the vinyl-player guy.
- Where is he going? - James asked
Now also Remus had a grin on his face. - He's going to sing
- Wow wow wow - James shouted.
- Guys - he said to the other people sitting with them - Padfoot's gonna sing
The group immediately stood up and jumped till the corner of the room. In the meantime the music had stopped and the other students were watching at the table, which now had quickly become a stage.
The vinyl-player guy had put a different track, which usually Sirius played as a background for his songs.
Remus noticed people stared at the make up on his face: a long line of eyeliner, some highlighter over his cheeks and red eye-shadow on his eyelids. Remus honestly thought he looked incredibly hot with make up on. He reminded him of David Bowie. But people still laughed with jealousy at his long black hair, at his animal grace.
The lights had been fixed by some students and now were just a big flash of light pointing on him. He was wearing flared blue jeans and a really tight tank top, with his Griffindor scarf around his waist like a belt.
And then Remus stopped staring at how Sirius was dressed, it didn't matter anymore. He had jumped on the stage and started singing his songs. Some of them were written by himself, others were popular songs from his favorite muggle bands and others were old French songs from his childhood. But one thing Remus couldn't explain was how those songs felt made of darkness and disgrace, like they were made from the same material of Sirius.
He was like a siren with her poisonous voice and Remus was an hopeless sailor, aware of how he was going to crush against the rocky coast. And did he really mind? was it so relevant that his relationship was definitely going to crush at some point? Because even If nobody seemed to bother about them being queer in Hogwarts, Remus knew it was going to be different outside of Hogwarts.
But at that moment everything was alright.
The marauders were still together. The party was still going on. The songs went on forever.
And Sirius, he was awful nice.
In a short time people started dancing to the rhythm of the music, like they were hypnotized. The figures of girls in their fashionable party dresses came out from the shadows when they hit the flash of light. One girl, who Remus did not know, jumped on the table. Sirius took her hand and made her spin, then took away his hand and the girl jumped off.
Remus drank a sip of golden cocktail.
When he looked back at Sirius their eyes met and the singer winked at him.
Not that Remus was jealous, he wasn't that type of guy. But seeing his boyfriend with girls reminded him of those past months when he had a huge crush on Sirius who at the time was dating Mary. He knew Sirius was loyal, but in that moment all of his cells wanted to be on that stage. He wanted all of those girls to be jealous of him for having a relationship with Sirius Black. Remus smiled sadly for his love who he couldn't obey.
The song changed. It was one of the most popular songs at that time, an energetic and rock sound. James grabbed Peter's arm and they stood on some chairs next to the stage. The chorus continued for a bit and also Regulus was added to it, his arm grabbed by James.
Sirius looked at his brother and friends, then again at Remus. A group of young girls, maybe first or second year's, noticed the continuous glances by the singer.
- Do you know his name? - one of them asked.
Remus laughed. They must have been living under a rock for not knowing it.
- Yes - he said loudly so that his voice was going to be heard even if the music was loud. - He's Sirius motherfucking Black.
The night went on forever, and after a long applause Sirius jumped off the stage. All of his friends immediately went near him.
- You've been awesome - Lily cheered.
- Really Pads, you're a Rock-star
Sirius smiled. - Thanks James, thanks Lily, thank you all.
The vinyl-guy put on a new song and James and Lily went in the middle of the dance floor, followed by the rest of the group.
- Please Moony, let's go sit somewhere cause I'm tired as hell.
Remus grabbed his arm and led Sirius to the previous armchair.
- I'm so proud of you. - he said as soon as the boy was sitting on his lap.
He noticed the young girls from before, now staring at him and Sirius.
- Siri - he whispered in the boy's ear - some first years developed a crush on you.
Sirius giggled and kissed him.
- You shocked them, Lady Stardust - Remus whispered.
- Lady Stardust? - Sirius laughed - like the Bowie song?
- It has always reminded me of you.
Sirius kissed him again. - Okay, Ziggy Stardust. We have the same last name, we're married.
- I always thought they were the same person. - Remus replied
- Fine, you're the spider from mars.
