The Story Of Mckayla Potter And Belvina Black
1423
I had never liked boys. My older sisters would spend all day looking out the windows at the farm boys that worked next door, waving at them, brushing their fingers through their long brown locks. I never really understood them, I mean, to me the boys just looked dirty and sweaty and honestly not very appealing. My sisters said I would grow out of it, find a nice boy to wed and live a perfect life, raising my children, but I suppose I never really grew out of it.
When I was 11 I attended hogwarts, I was excited to finally join my sisters. They always spoke so highly about the school. I was also grateful to get away from my parents and their strict rules. I didn't want to always wear frilly dresses with uncomfortable shoes and heavy jewels. I never understood why but whenever I asked my mother about it she would hit me with a long thin stick and tell me;
"Belvine Black, you are a child, meant to be seen and not heard. If you are not well behaved no man will want to wed you!"
Anyways, I was happy to be out of the house.

I think I liked a girl. Her name was Mckayla Potter. I had known her for years, seeing her at balls and parties, but this year...she had changed. She stopped wearing a skirt and opted to wear trousers instead, I mean, full on pants! People snickered at her when she walked through the halls but I think they were just jealous. She was only a 3rd year, but already played Quidditch. Not that many girls played Quidditch, I mean, there was a hufflepuff girl a few years back that played, but she only played for a match to fill in. Mckayla was a permanent player, she played every match, and was amazing. I never really understood the game, but I knew that she was a chaser.

I finally got to talk to Mckayla. We were put together for a potions project, we had to walk around the forest looking for ingredients and we got to talking.
"So uhm...I like your trousers" I mumbled, wanting to start a conversation
"Thank you, they're much more comfortable than skirts, but I do get a lot of stares" She replied, her voice as sweet as honey.
"Well I think you're really brave, and I mean, I've seen you playing quidditch and you're so talented, better than half of your team"
"You're very sweet, Belvina" she said as we reached a large tree, the fungi that we needed was growing on it, we both reached out to pick it up and her hand brushed mine. I felt my face blush as I looked away. She quickly retracted her hand and I grabbed the fungi.

Mckayla and I had been friends for almost a year now. My feelings for her had only grew stronger. One day we were walking in the forest together, following unicorn tracks that she had found. We ended up sitting down in an open field, her hand on top of mine, when I kissed her. I just went for it. I felt butterflies fluttering in my stomach. I expected her to pull away but she kissed me back. We stayed there for a minute until I pulled away, my face immediately blushing.
"Sorry" I whispers, feeling scared and ashamed. To my surprise her hand found my cheek,
"No, I liked it" she responded, also in a whisper when she kissed me again.

I had been courting Mckayla for almost 3 years now and I was back home for christmas, my mother was giving me her usual speech of;
"Belvine Black, you are a child, meant to be seen and not heard. If you are not well behaved no man will want to wed you!"
I was so mad at her and I couldn't help but shout out, "No, I am not a child, I am 17, and I demand to be heard! I refuse to wear these stupid clothes!"
I was met with a sharp sting across my face from the wooden stick that she was holding, "BELVINE BLACK, NO MAN WILL WANT TO WED YOU IF YOU CONTINUE ACTING LIKE THIS!"
"I don't want to wed a man!"
"What is that supposed to mean!?"
"I love another! A woman!" I screamed at her. Her face fell fell into pure fury and she began to hit me over and over with the stick. I let out a cry of pain as I felt my skin break under the whip. I let the blood roll down onto the floor.
"You will marry a man! You will marry Herbert tomorrow at sunset!" She screamed still hitting me with the stick.
"But Mother, he's my cousin!" I tried to protest, still crying from the pain of my blood being splattered, but she was having none of it.
The next night I found myself in my bedroom, I stood looking out my window. I was quite high up and I could see my family standing at the altar, waiting for me. I knew I could not do this, what would Mckayla think? Just as I thought of her, I saw her standing outfront my house, tears down her face. I knew that she could see me. She knew that I couldn't get out of this situation. So for the first time in my life, I mouthed the words 'I love you' to her, before pushing forward and letting my body fall out the window.
The last thing I heard was her blood curdling scream before nothing but...
