Dear diary, Dad did it! He competed in all the potion contests and won them all! It was in the creativity contest where he won a vial of the Elixir of Life, and not only that, Perenell was so surprised that Dad won in every single contest that she offered to correspond with him, a great honor.
I spoke a bit with Pery (Perenell) and she said that if we were interested once I turn 10, her husband could teach us the basics of alchemy. I had never seen Dad so excited; it seems that Hogwarts stopped offering alchemy courses as soon as Dumbledore become headmaster, and Dad couldn't learn it. It's been a frustrated dream of his, and now we have an invitation.
I'm not as excited about alchemy, though. I prefer learning about magical creatures, which I started studying this year on the theoretical side. When I turn 10, I'll be able to start learning the practical side with live creatures, so I'm more excited about that than alchemy for my tenth birthday.
