I Am Not At Fault
Summary
Harry is fed up with his so-called best friends. It turns out so is the rest of his house. They have tried everything to get the two to ask for a resort. What else can they do? Based on a prompt from Deb Ives' Group on FB.

Harry sighed deeply. He was trying to eat his dinner but Granger was lecturing him regarding whatever she felt was wrong about whatever he might have thought, said, or done. Weasley agreed with her between stuffing food in his mouth. She had appeared next to them out of nowhere and lectured from the second she arrived. Harry slammed his fork down and stood up. He pulled out his wand and cast the Sonorus. "I demand a resort."

Dumbledore and the rest of the staff looked surprised. "You can't just demand a resort." Granger's irritating tone filled the silence. "It says in Hogwarts: A History-"

"Shut up." Harry turned to the girl. "I have had it with your lecturing me. You are not my mother, my aunt, or anyone in charge of me. I am not your child."

"Harry James Potter!" Granger stood up.

"If he gets a resort, I want one." A seventh-year stood up.

"Me too." Students at the Gryffindor table stood up.

"We can't resort anyone without a reason." Dumbledore ran his hands down his beard. He wasn't expecting this. "I am sure whatever the issue is, we can solve it. Perhaps after dinner. I am sure it is a slight misunderstanding."

"Albus, we can't dismiss this. We must listen to their concerns and see if there is a valid reason why everyone but three Gryffindors is requesting a resort." Professor Flitwick stood on his chair. He wasn't sure what was happening but he was sure it wasn't anything Dumbledore wanted to happen.

Snape looked at Dumbledore and McGonagall for a few seconds before his eyes sought out Harry Potter. He wasn't sure what was happening but had a feeling it was going to be interesting. He turned back to Dumbledore. Dumbledore didn't look happy with Flitwick's words and Snape could tell he was thinking about how to handle this situation. McGonagall looked just as confused. Snape sat back to watch this latest development.

"My boy, I am sure this is important to you and we can discuss this at a later time. I am sure you and your housemates do not wish to delay dinner nor do you want to cause your house to lose so many people." Dumbledore ignored Flitwick's words as he generally did when he didn't like something he didn't hear.

"No, here is good." Harry looked at the students standing with him. "Don't you agree?"

"Yes, we do." The students agreed.

"Since we haven't been able to get those two resorted." Seamus looked at the two in question.

No one noticed Susan Bones and Draco Malfoy sneaking out of the Great Hall. The two exchanged a look. "Floo your aunt, I will floo my father." Nothing more was said as the two headed to the floos closest to their houses.

Harry waited to see what Dumbledore was going to try next. He had hoped to ask for a resort without causing attention to himself but Lady Fate must hate him. Well, it didn't help that he had lost his patience. "Albus, we have no choice." Harry heard McGonagall inform the old fart.

"We do need a valid reason," Dumbledore informed his staff. "Just because they request it doesn't mean it is valid."

"It's valid." One of the seventh-year prefects from Ravenclaw informed everyone. "We have tried to speak to Professor McGonagall but we can't get beyond stating we are having an issue before we are informed to work it out for ourselves and how she doesn't want to get involved in petty arguments when we mention it involves Granger and Ronald Weasley."

"We can't study in our house because she has to decide when and what we study, correct essays, our assignments, and even what we read." One of the first-year students comments. "I had to redo my assignment because Professor Snape recognized her style. He didn't give me a detention when I explained what was happening. I just give her a fake copy of my assignments so I can keep my originals to give to the Professors." The rest of the younger years voiced their agreement.

"The Prefects have tried but this year, I believe she is using a time turner and it has gotten worse." Percy looked at Granger. I warned you about the dangers of overusing it but you have ignored every warning."

Granger looked surprised at Percy. "What? I thought I was the only one to have one."

"I must say I do not believe we were expecting this and I would like to know where that time turner came from." Madam Bones stood in the doorway of the Great Hall with Lucius slightly behind her. "Albus, you are aware that it is illegal to use a time turner in such a manner."

"I believe the School Board vetoed it when it was requested several years ago for another student." Lucius had been able to bribe his way back onto the school board. "Now, I am wondering why we have been called here?"

"A mass resorting of Gryffindors and Headmaster Dumbledore's refusal to address the issue." Percy Weasley faced Madam Bones and Lucius Malfoy. "We have tried speaking to Professor McGonagall but we have been ignored."

"What concerns have been ignored?" Madam Bones addressed Gryffindor. She held up her hand when various voices started speaking at once. "How about you keep it simple since I am hearing a variety of concerns?" The adults watched the students form a circle omitting the two youngest Weasleys and Hermione Granger.

"It's simple. Hermione Granger and Ronald Weasley." Percy was elected as their speaker since he was the seventh-year prefect. "I have been elected as the speaker. There are numerous issues regarding the two of them and despite me and several others attempting to fix the issues, nothing has worked."

"I writing to Mum and telling her about this, you traitor," Ron yelled at his brother. The twins cast a Silenco on their youngest brother.

"You have attempted to bring these issues to Professor McGonagall?" Madam Bones glanced at the head table. Dumbledore and McGonagall were quietly arguing between themselves.

"Yes, we tried to inform her of issues for the last few years. She doesn't even come to our common room except to summon someone for the Headmaster or when it becomes a bigger problem than us prefects can handle." Percy had tried for three years to get McGonagall to help with the issues in his house. His sister might have been in so much danger if she had listened.

"I know I went to her during my first year asking for help and was denied. It was to warn her about the stone being stolen and I was ignored." Harry looked at Granger and Weasley. "They were with me at the time. The Headmaster was down there as it ended."

"What?" Snape wasn't happy to hear this news. "You informed us that the three of them went down there without any regard for safety. You informed us that you were unaware of what exactly happened. You claimed the boy was doing it for fame."

"What? I was pressured into going." Harry looked confused. "Just like when I asked to never return to my relatives' house. I told him what they were like and I got told how they loved and cared for me. I thought someone would have been concerned since my letter was addressed to my cupboard under the stairs, my room at my relatives' house." Harry thought Snape looked like he was going to blow a gasket as he was speaking about his life with his relatives.

Madam Bones wasn't happy with what she was hearing and was growing very concerned about issues at Hogwarts. "Lord Malfoy, perhaps the rest of the board should be present." She hit the summoning orb in her pocket for Aurors to join her.

"I agree." Lucius was in his glory. Perhaps they would be able to get the old fool gone from Hogwarts. "The resorting shouldn't be an issue just based on what we have heard. However, a better solution might be to remove the head of house duties from Professor McGonagall and handle the issues of two students over the number of Gryffindor students."

"Let's see what we discover." Madam Bones watched as Dumbledore started to walk toward them. "I don't need his brand of crazy this late in the day." Madam Bones muttered to herself but judging from the smirks of those around her, she was heard.

A week later:

Harry was staring at Neville. Neville and the rest of the third-year boys were sitting on their beds a bit in shock. "Was anyone expecting this?"

"Dean, I don't think any of us expected something like this just because we asked for a resort." Neville glanced at the empty former bed of Ronald Weasley. "He is a Hufflepuff."

"How about Granger being a Ravenclaw as if she didn't belong there in the first place." Seamus shook his head. "Do you think they will ever reveal what happened in Dumbledore's office?"

Harry folded his legs under him. "No. I don't think we will. At least, McGonagall wasn't fired or promoted to Headmaster. I wasn't expecting the school board to force Dumbledore into retirement." Harry wasn't going to mention that he also was not going to be required to return to the Dursleys. He would be living with Neville and his grandmother. Harry didn't even know that Dumbledore was his magical guardian.

"Is the Ministry going to review everything for the last few decades as it said in the Daily Prophet?" Dean wondered.

"I am not sure but I think so. Gram mentioned she would be busy with fixing everything Dumbledore had his hands on. Her words, not mine. She mentioned they would be reviewing old trials as well. Something Madam Bones discovered." Neville was going to ask more questions when he got home for the summer holiday. "I will keep everyone posted when I can."

"Who knew asking for a resort would cause this many problems?" Seamus laughed lightly. "We just wanted to get away from Granger and Weasley."

"I wonder how soon it will be before Ravenclaw students ask for a resort?" Harry gave his friends an innocent look.
