Harry Potter attends Midtown High
“I have no idea. I just really, really need to get back to where I came from”
“Well, I’m sorry Harry but I don’t know how to help you”
“It’s alright… I just wish I knew what happened”
“Yeah, me too. Peter is my best friend. He’s pretty much my only friend” Ned looked very sad, and Harry didn’t want him to cry. “Hey, hey it’s alright mate… We’ll figure it out. Hermione would know what to do”
“Peter would know what to do”
“I suppose they’d get along then”
“Yeah… Well do you want to be my date to the dance?” Harry laughed for the first time since he got there. But he needed to stay on task, how will Harry and Peter swap back if they have swapped places? And what’s Harry going to do now? He has nowhere to go and nowhere to live. Ned started to leave for the dance, but Harry stopped him, “Wait, Ned”
“What? Are we not going to the dance?”
“No, I haven’t a place to go after the dance ends do I”
“Oh, yeah… I forgot about that”
“So?”
“Well, Liz would get suspicious if you don’t show up to school tomorrow so you’ll have to enroll in Midtown High to keep up the lie…”
“Okay”
“And yaya would never let you stay at my house so I guess maybe we could ask Peter’s aunt if you could stay in his room.”
“I think that might be a bit odd”
“Yeah, but you guys did swap places so why not swap homes as well”
“I suppose so, but I have never met Peter’s aunt. Why would she take me in?”
“You would be surprised how kind and welcoming she is”
“Like Mrs. Weasley…”
“Yes, exactly. I’m sure I’d completely agree with you if I knew who that was”
“She’s just someone who always takes me in and makes sure I’m happy so if Peter’s aunt is like her then I believe you” Ned smiled, “Okay, so now I just to come up with an excuse for why Peter is missing and why you’re here instead”
“Yeah, that might be slightly tricky”
“I’ll come up with it on the way. We’ll walk to Peter’s apartment”
“Lead the way” Throughout the walk Harry couldn’t stop thinking about Voldemort. Although Harry in unwilling to leave all of the wizarding world at the mercy of Lord Voldemort, it is nice for his mind to be free of him.
Because while he’s here, Harry doesn’t have a worry in the world. He’s no longer constantly in death’s reach. But he’d rather die than do nothing to help. Harry had gotten so lost in his thoughts that he didn’t even realize he and Ned had arrived at the apartment. “Harry, we’re here”
“Are we really? I could have sworn we had just left the school”
“Yeah, you zoned out”
“Right” Ned knocked on the door and a very pretty woman answered it, “Oh, hey Ned. Who’s this?”
“Oh, this is Harry. He’s a transfer student from Londan”
“Nice to meet you, Harry. Is Peter with you guys? he hasn’t been responding to my texts”
“Actually, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about”
“Oh, then come on in” Ned and Harry entered the cozy apartment, and everyone sat down on a couch.
“So?”
“Well, the program that brought Harry here sent Peter to London”
“I’m sorry? You mean to tell me that my nephew signed up for a foreign exchange program and I knew nothing about it”
“Y-Yeah… And Harry was also told he could stay here during the program” The woman sighed, “Well of course he can stay in Peter’s room if that’s what he agreed too. But tell Peter he has one great storm waiting for him when he gets home”
“Thanks Mae!” Ned hugged her and left the two in an awkward position. “Well, uh… Peter’s room is through there if you want to get settled in. Do you have any bags?”
“No, I don’t”
“Okay, I’ll make dinner. Is spaghetti okay for you?”
“Yeah, that’s fine thanks”
“You're welcome” Harry did just as Mae requested and felt very grateful to be welcomed with such warmth even though he’s never had spaghetti in his life and was used to the incredible Hogwarts feasts. He ate the food happily though. “I’m glad you’re enjoying it, Harry. I know this must be really scary for you”
“Not at all. I guess I’m just home sick is all”
“Hm, I would imagine” Harry brushed his bangs out of his face forgetting they hid his scare, “What’s that on your forehead?”
“Oh, uh… that’s just a scare”
“In the shape of a lightning bolt. Cool, how did you get it?”
“Um, I… fell while ice skating. Yeah, that’s what happened”
“Really?” Harry nodded, “So, is Peter staying at your house in London?”
Harry hadn’t really thought about it but, “Yeah, I suppose he is”
“I can never predict that boy’s actions anymore. He’s going through a reckless phase… How did your parents react to you leaving the country?”
“Actually, I also live with my aunt and uncle and cousin… You’re much nicer than they are”
“Oh, I’m sure that’s not true” Harry couldn’t help but laugh at the idea of the Dursleys actually being nice. “Well, it’s getting late you should get some sleep you have school in the morning”
“Right, thanks for diner. See you in the morning”
“Goodnight Harry.”
