Chapter 3

Later that morning Hecate and Pippa headed to the staff room. None of the girls should be up yet but she knew the staff would be getting ready for the day.

They walked in together and Hecate took a deep breath before walking over to her colleague Dimity. Pippa squeezed her hand before heading over to the over teachers to keep them away from that conversation.

"Morning Dimity," Hecate said trying to stay calm.

"Morning HB," Dimity replied trying to stay neutral but there was clearly some tension between the two.

"I wanted to apologise for yesterday. I appreciate you looking out for me but I wanted to assure you that I am alright," she looked over at Pippa and a small smile grew on her face.

Dimity looked flabbergasted. Hecate apologising was unheard of it. Maybe that antidote from yesterday hadn't completely worked.

"Thank you. If you ever need anyone though you can come and talk to me," Dimity responded recovering from the shock of receiving an apology.

"Who made this report about me to you?" Hecate questioned still glancing at Pippa. Somehow looking at her girlfriend helped calm her nerves and made this whole ordeal easier.

"Well I promised her I wouldn't say because she was worried you would be angry," Dimity started saying.

"I'm not angry at whoever it was. Concerned more to the point," she replied.

"It was Sybil Hallow," the younger woman informed her.

"Thank you Dimity," Hecate replied before walking up to Pippa and whispering something in her ear. They smiled at each other before the black haired woman transferred herself away.

Maybe it wasn't leftover potion. Maybe it was just Pentangle's magic.

Just before the start of lesson Miss Hardbroom located the youngest Hallow.

"Sybil Hallow I need to have a word with you," HB said before transferring them both to her office.

Sybil squeezed her eyes shut wringing her hands. Miss Drill must have told her and now she was in trouble for reporting her.

"Sit," Miss Hardbroom instructed

She opened her eyes slightly before taking a seat. Her leg bounced up and down while she stared down at her bitten nails.

"I'm sure you know why you're here but in case you don't I will tell you. I'm aware that you reported me to another member of staff with a concern?" HB stated looking over her desk at the young girl infront of her.

"Yes but...," Sybil tried to start explaining herself. Her voice waiverd.

"I appreciate that you spoke up however I'm concerned that you knew what they were. You would only know if you'd done them to yourself or knew of someone else who had done the same thing," HB stated concerned.

"I uh... well," Sybil stuttered pulling down her sleeves slightly.

"It's ok Sybil but you need to tell me the truth. Can you show me your arms please so I can do any necessary magic or work out who else I need to speak to," Miss Hardbroom said firmly but with care.

Sybil just nodded. She knew she couldn't get out of this now. She slowly lifted her arms up and rested them flat on the desk before looking away and squeezing her eyes shut. Tears welled up and started spilling out, quietly dripping down her face.

Miss Hardbroom lifted up the girl's sleeves and saw a very familiar sight. Luckily the cuts and scratches were fewer and not as deep but she could tell that this girl was still drowning like her. Drowning in 5 metres of water and drowning in 50 metres of water was still drowning. She was glad she could save Sybil before it was too late.

She cast some spells and sent Sybil on her way before heading back to Dimity and informing her of this information so she could keep an eye on the girl and offer her support. She may be able to relate to Sybil but Dimity was so much better at talking to the girls.

Hecate was so glad she had Pippa there by her side to help her. Turns out people finding out about her secret wasn't so bad after all. She was surrounded by support and not once did she get pitied, lose her job or lose the most important thing of all. Her Pippa.
