Note
This is only my second story, and I'm still in the process of writing the first one. It's called 'Enemies to Friends to Lovers to' and it's on my page if you want to read it after this one. I just had a separate idea for a story and it didn't fit in the timeline of the other one. This one should be shorter than the other one, but I'm still figuring out those details. Hope you enjoy it!

The Truth.

As we walk in, I see Potter, Weasley, and Granger, sitting at a table. I roll my eyes as we head to a table at the back. As we sit down, Professor McGonagall walks in and begins the lesson.

"Today we are learning how to transfigure a muggle coin into a galleon. On your desks there are muggle coins, you have the whole of class to attempt this, begin. Oh, and dont try to change your hair color like my older students, that is a N.E.W.T's level spell." She briskly says as she walks to her desk. As she sits down, the instructions and wand movements appear on the chalkboard behind her. Everyone starts to begin. Me and Pansy exchange looks as we look at the muggle coins. It's so, odd. It has a very old woman's face on one side, and a bowl of fruits on the other. It has a gold lining, but a silver center. I glance at the board and get to work, this is an O.W.L's level spell. I look around and see that everyone is struggling, even Potter. I grin as I attempt it and get it on the first try. Everyone near me is shocked, then it spreads to the whole class and soon, everyone is looking at me in shock. I keep grinning as I walk up to McGonagall's desk and plop the coin down in front of her.

"I'm done, Miss. Is there anything else for me to do?" I ask as she looks up.

"No Mr Malfoy, there is not. If you could just write in your book how you did it and how many tries it took." She says as she looks back down. I roll my eyes, pick up the coin, and walk back to my desk. I plop down next to Pansy and start doodling in my book. I feel someone's eyes on me, so I glance around the classroom and see Potter looking at me still. As I lock eyes with him, he quickly looks away, getting back to his work. I roll my eyes as I finish writing my work and begin doodling again. It takes a while before everyone has transfigured their coin. When everyone is done, McGonagall stands up and moves to the board to write down the properties of the spell, where it originated from, and why it was created.

"Copy these down in your book, then for your homework, attempt to transfigure the coin back to a muggle one." She sat back down after she had said this. We all scratched it down, quickly so we could get our free period. After everyone had finished writing in the work, McGonagall stood back up.

"Have a good day everyone, class dismissed." She then sat back down as we all packed our things. As I was packing my things, Blaise and Pansy exchanged a glance before Blaise stayed back for a bit. As me and Pansy walked out, I saw Blaise approaching McGonagall's desk. I turned to Pansy.

"Why did Blaise stay back?" I asked. She bit her lip before answering.

"He wants to ask McGonagall if she knows how the hostages are chosen for the second task." I nod and we wait for Blaise. As everyone heads back to their common rooms, I see Potter walking out with Granger and waiting on the wall opposite the class. I look to Pansy who shrugs and studies her nails. As Blaise walks out, I see Weasley walking out behind him and going to Potter and Granger. I turn to Blaise.

"Well? What did she say?" I ask, quietly but with urgency in my tone. He chews his lips before shaking his head, glancing over his shoulder to Potter, Granger, and Weasley.

"Not here, I'll tell you on the way." He starts walking towards the common room. Pansy and I follow him, eager for details. He breathes out a sigh and then turns to check no one's nearby before stopping and resting on the wall.

"Okay, so when I asked McGonagall how the merpeople choose the hostages, she says they choose from a few categories. It's either, family, friends, someone you're close to, or someone you love." He stops there. I don't reply, I just stare at the floor. I can't answer, what do I say to that? Pansy shakes me a little to make sure I'm not having a panic attack. I breathe in deeply before releasing it. I look back up to Blaise.

"Are you sure?" I whisper, not being able to talk louder. Blaise nods.

"That's not even the weirdest part. Weasley was in there, packing up REALLY slowly like he was waiting for something. As soon as he heard the answer he jumped up and bolted for the door. He was probably getting the answer for Potter. " Blaise shrugs. I need to breathe. I slowly breathe in and out. I start walking to the common room. As I stop outside the door, I jump a little as I hear Pansy say beside me.

"Salazar." She hisses. As we walk in, I'm relieved to find it empty. I collapse down on the sofa and curl my legs up underneath me. I stare at the floor as Pansy and Blaise chat beside me. What do I do now? How can I annoy Potter now that this has happened? My mind spirals and I don't even notice that it's lunch now. I slowly stand up as Pansy and Blaise do, and we walk to the hall in silence. As we enter, it's already full of students. I look to our table, not even acknowledging Potter and his crew as we sit down. I fill my plate with food, but I'm not really hungry. As I nibble on the food and listen to Pansy and Blaise argue about something, I feel someone's eyes on me. I follow the feeling to Potters's eyes.
