Chapter 1
Someone was shaking me. I crack my eyes open to see Ron standing above me. I groan as the light hits my eyes.
"What do you want Ron?" I ask.
"Harry! You're going to be late! Get up!" He says, hurriedly pulling me up. I rub my eyes as I stand up.
"Late for what?" I ask confused.
"The second task! It starts in 20 minutes! Come on!" He pulls me as he starts walking. My brain finally catches up as I realize I fell asleep in the library.
"Here," He says, shoving something into my hand, "Dobby told me to give you this, it's Gillyweed. It'll let you breathe underwater for an hour. Now hurry up!"
I run beside him, out the doors, and down to the lake. I look suspiciously at the green blob in my hand. It doesn't look good, but I trust Dobby. We arrive at the lake as the other champions are getting ready to start. I run beside them, already changed. I hear the announcements start.
"Hello everyone and welcome to the Triwizard tournament! Champions, please take your place at the edge. The challenge will start soon." As I glance around, I see Ron standing near Dumbledore. Next to them are a bunch of Slytherins. I look around, expecting to see a blond-haired Slytherin wearing one of the 'Potter stinks' badges they are all wearing. I don't see him anywhere though. I turn back to the water as the announcements turn back on. I look down at the Gillyweed in my hand and swallow it without a second thought.
"Champions, you are about to go down to the depths of the lake to retrieve someone who's very important to you. Get your spells and potions ready, for you can begin!" A horn blasts and the crowd cheers as we dive into the water. As soon as I hit the water, I feel something on my neck. I feel it with my hand and realize it's gills. My hands and feet have webs now too. I dive downwards as the sound gets farther and farther away. I look around and see Viktor as a half-shark. I see Cedric with a bubble enchantment. I dont see Fleur though. I shake it off and look around. I see a forest of seaweed. I turn there and start swimming towards it. I move through the seaweed silently, swimming effortlessly with my webbed hands and feet. I feel something grab at my ankle. I spin around to see a Grindylow. I grab my wand out and shout "Incendio!" Nothing comes out only bubbles, but a stream of boiling water shoots out from my wand, burning the Grindylow in the face. It lets go of my ankle and I swim away before any more can reach me. That's when I hear it, a song through the water. I recognize it as the song that was in the egg! I swim towards it and see loads of merpeople swimming around. I keep moving forward and reach the center. There are 4 figures tied up by seaweed. There's a little girl on one end, who I assume is Fleur's sister. Cho is next to her, Hermione is next to Cho and at the end is...
Malfoy? I shake my head and swim closer to get another look. It's really him. I think for a moment, who is Malfoy important to? I shake my head again and search for something to cut the bonds. I find a sharp stone. This will have to do. I move to Hermione because I assume she's my "treasure". But at that moment I'm being dragged back by the screeching merpeople. They let me go and I look at them confused. I move in the direction of Cho. They shake their heads, so I look at Fleur's sister. They shake their heads again. I look at Malfoy, then back to the merpeople. I point at Malfoy, and they nod. I look back to Malfoy. Suddenly I hear someone behind me. I whip out my wand and spin around. Its Cedric. He moves to Cho before saying "Hurry up Harry, time is running out." And swimming back up. I swim towards Malfoy and start hacking at his bonds. I see Viktor out of the corner of my eye ripping Hermione's bonds before swimming back up. I see Fleur swimming towards me, and then Malfoys bonds snap. I wrap my arm around his waist and start swimming up, I feel the Gillyweed start to fade. I take one last deep breath as my gills go. There's not much left to swim. As my head breaks the water, I hear Malfoy take a breath beside me.
