The Visser’s Arrival
The twin red lights that we’d seen slowed. They turned in a circle, and came back towards us.
I knelt beside the Andalite. “I’m doing it. I want to help.”
“We have to do this.” Toby said, “how else will we fight these controllers?”
“This is insane.” Marco said. “Insane.”
“I’d like a bit more time, but we don’t have that option.” Rachel said. “I’m in.”
“What say you, Jake?” I asked. Cassie was already on my left, having agreed earlier. Jake seemed shocked, like he was confused on why we were asking him for the final answer. I could see his brain gears spinning, considering his options.
“We have to.” Toby said to him. Jake sighed. “Yes. We have no choice.”
We did. 6 hands- I managed to squeeze myself in there. On top of my hand placed a blue hand, with too many fingers.
“Do not be afraid” the Andalite said.
Something like a hum washed through me, like a comforting scent, welcoming me home. The others seemed to get something a little different, like a tickle, if Tobias’s suppressed laugh was anything to go by.
the Andalite said.
“Two hours.” Jake repeated.
Suddenly, a new fear, deep seated in the Andalite, washed through the aliens mind. My ears twitched at the feeling, and I was thankful my hair covered it. It felt like a dread crawling up my spine. He was staring at something with his main eyes, the beautiful emerald ones so much like mine, and I looked up. Something else was up there with the bug fighters.
“What?!” Marco squeaked. “what’s a Visser? Who’s a Visser?!”
“No!” Rachel said firmly.
“We’ll stay here with you.” I said, scared. I was shaking. I wasn’t one to back down from a challenge, or be afraid easily, but this was definitely appropriate for it.
He was smiling at us with his eyes.
We all looked up, our necks craning. Sure enough, the two red lights were sinking towards us, followed by a third, far larger, ship.
“But how are we-.”
I jerked from the force of his command, but didn’t move. Jake shouted in front of us. “He’s right. We have to go! RUN!”
Me and toby stayed where we were, while the others ran. I was trying to convince him to come with us. “Sir, please, you can help us! We can help you! You’re healed, you can run. Please!” I said, tears starting to fill my eyes. I don’t know why I was crying. Something made me do so. It’s like I knew him PERSONALLY.
He took his hand from my grasp, and placed it against my cousin’s forehead. For a few seconds of silence, nothing happened, before he was rocked back. “He’s right, Harry. We have to go!” he said, grabbing my arm.
“No! I’m not leaving him!” I said. A hand with too many fingers, blue in color, cupped my face.
I looked down where the Andalite smiled at me with his eyes, looking somber.
he said. Tearing up, I nodded, and allowed Toby to drag me away.
We got to a half wall, and crouched. I saw Jake hit the ground, his leg in the spotlight of the bug fighters, who were circling ever so closer. He yanked his leg away, and I ran toward him, pulling him behind the wall.
I fell to the ground, and he fell on top of me behind the wall. I blushed, and pushed him, signaling to him get up. He did so, and we both crouched, just enough to keep from being seen with the others.
The bug fighters continued to descend, and I saw where they got their nickname. They looked like little roaches without the legs. There were small window-like eyes on the ship, and on either side of the front seemed like large, sharp spears.
The ships landed, one on each side of the Andalite’s ship.
“Okay, you can wake me up now.” Marco whispered. I reached over to him (he was beside Jake) and pinched his arm, which had him glaring at me. “You believe this is a dream now?” I whispered angrily.
The larger ship began to decend now, and something in me froze, as if ice had entered my veins. I felt as if I couldn’t breathe.
I wanted to run, but I couldn’t. its as if I was parylyzed, unable to properly breathe, or swallow, or move. I felt a hand on my neck, and turned to Jake, who had placed his hand there. I didn’t know him long, hardly a day, but I could tell he felt the same way. It comforted me, knowing I wasn’t the only one who was scared.
The ship settled on the grould, looking like it was going to land on an earthmover that was parked there. But, to my own surprise, the earthmover just sizzled and vanished. My eyes widened at such an action.
The larger ship was built like some ancient weapon. It reminded me of those battle axes that old time knights used when hacking off their foes that I read about.
There was a large, handle-like part of the ship, and then the head of it, pointed in a way that reminded me of a snake. At the rear there were two large, scimitar-looking wings, and the whole ship was eight or ten times the size of those little ones.
The blade ship landed, door opening. I could feel a scream start to rip out of my throat, but someone’s hand covered my face. Cassie seemed to do the same because someone else covered her hand. I turned and hid my face in the body of whoever covered me, only slightly peaking.
Creatures that looked like walking weapons jumped from the large ship. They had blades on their elbows, knees, wrist, and tails. They looked like a mix between multiple deadly dinosaurs, and a grass cutter. Their heads had long, extended necks, and a bird-like beak.
I felt the person I was buried into jump, and I admit I was also a little startled. It was fainter than before, as if he was further away.
said the Andalite.
said the Andalite.
I heard Rachel mumble something, but I was more focused on trying not to scream at what I saw next.
Massive, centipede like creatures. They were at LEAST 4 meters long, they looked squishy, but not in a comforting way. More of the ‘what in gods name is that’ kind of way. It seemed to have dozens of legs that supported their bodies, with the top third of their bodies having crab-claw like arms. They truly looked like worms out of hell or something.
Their eyes were round, jello-like and red. The four eyes surrounded a large, circular mouth, which had hundreds of tiny teeth.
said the Andalite.
“yeah, I think we would have guessed that.” Said Marco from nearby.
Both alien species poured from the ship, spreading out around the area like well-trained marines. They were holding small, handheld weapons that looked a bit like water guns, and formed a ring around the Andalite and the ship. I felt my body start to move, to get up, to protect him. But someone grabbed my arm, keeping me from jumping the wall to help the Andalite.
I felt my body be moved, protected by someone larger than me. looking up, I saw Jake, looking at Marco. He was staring at something above the wall, his eyes wide and lips drew back in what could be a grin, but I knew that face too well.
It was pure, true fear.
