Not Today, Maybe Tomorrow?
Summary
Remus didn’t always know what to say. Sometimes, he couldn’t even remember his own name. He just hoped his friends would always be around to remind him.“We could never forget your name, Remus. Not today, and definitely not tomorrow,” they’d always said.
Note
right so after seeing (and making) a few tiktoks of Mary and Remus to CHIHIRO by Billie Eilish, I decided that I needed to write something about it.I wrote this instead of studying from my French assessment so apologies if it's not the best.yeah

Remus didn’t always know what to say. Sometimes, he couldn’t even remember his own name. He just hoped his friends would always be around to remind him.

“We could never forget your name, Remus. Not today, and definitely not tomorrow,” they’d always said.

But after October 31st of 1981, maybe tomorrow Mary will?

Everytime Remus’ love leaves his side, a part of him always wonders if they’ll make it back. And everytime, another part of him says, “no, don’t say that.” Maybe if he never said it, they would’ve made it back again.

But one by one, all of Remus’ love was taken away from him. And one by one, the only one left now is Mary.

Returning back to his life is hard for Remus. Everytime he sees red Chuck Taylors or a head of long, black hair, Remus always feels a part of him click back into place. Until they turn around, and he realises those aren’t their faces. Then all Remus feels is longing.

Mary feels it too.

They both decide they need to take a break. A break from this everlasting torment. From the unimaginable pain forced upon them. A break they promise to come back from. But how come when Remus returns, Mary has gone away?

After Mary obliviated herself, Remus added her number to the endless list of calls he makes every day just to hear their voicemails. Remus never expects Mary to pick up because no one ever has. Until Mary does.

“Hello?” Mary’s familiar voice rings through.

“I don’t know why I called,” he whispers.

“I’m sorry, I don’t think I know you,” she replies, ever so gently.

When Mary told him she was curious to know what would happen if she erased her memory, he never thought she was being serious.

Remus hangs up.

Today, Remus decides to go to the graveyard at Godric's Hollow. He spends his time contemplating what he’s done to have his love taken away from him.

That’s when Mary finds him.

“I beg your pardon, but there’s a part of me that recognises you. Do you feel it too?” she says.
