Sibling Bonds Strengthen
In the following days, James and Lily settled into their respective houses and classes. James found solace in his friendships and studies in Slytherin, but there was a part of him that couldn't shake off the comparison with Lily being in Gryffindor.
One afternoon, as James and Lily sat together by the Black Lake, enjoying a rare moment of quiet, James broached the topic that had been on his mind.
"Lily, do you ever feel like you're supposed to be in Gryffindor because Mum and Dad were?"
Lily looked at James, her expression thoughtful. "Sometimes, I guess. Gryffindor is known for bravery, and I want to live up to that."
James nodded, feeling a sense of relief that he wasn't alone in his thoughts. "Yeah, I know what you mean. Slytherin is great, but sometimes I wonder if I'm living up to the family legacy."
Lily placed a comforting hand on James' shoulder. "James, you're amazing just the way you are. Slytherin saw something special in you, just like Gryffindor saw something special in me. We don't have to be the same to be great."
James smiled, grateful for his sister's words. "Thanks, Lily. You're right. We're a team, no matter which house we're in."
Their conversation shifted to lighter topics, and as they sat together, watching the sun dip below the horizon, James felt a renewed sense of acceptance and pride in being a Slytherin. Lily's presence and support reminded him that family bonds were stronger than house assignments, and together, they would navigate Hogwarts and the challenges that lay ahead.
