Coffee
“James, if you have coffee right now you won’t sleep tonight.” Lily warned, knowing that he wouldn’t listen, he never did.
“You never tell Reg off for having coffee with dinner.” James rolled his eyes, already sipping from a mug that was probably evenly filled with coffee and sugar
Regulus looked up from his book for just a second, “That’s cause I don’t bounce off the walls.”
“I do not bounce off the walls!” James protested, while already unable to stand still.
“Already honey, but if you can’t sleep, then you can’t keep Reg and I up.” Lily warned, and James just rolled his eyes.
“I’ll be fine Lily! I’m an adult you know.” James defended and Reg just laughed.

Regulus woke up to tapping on his left side and snoring on his right, “Hey Reg.” James whispered, trying so hard not to wake Lily.
Regulus sighed, knowing what was coming, “Yeah?”
“Can’t sleep. Are you up?”
“Yes dear, I am clearly awake, now that you’ve woken me up.” Regulus was not someone who enjoyed being woken up and was fighting the urge to bite his lover's head off. “Do you need something?”
“Guest room?” James said with a smile, trying to seduce Reg, which would probably have worked at any time besides 2am.
“No. Go to sleep.” Regulus reprimanded.
James groaned, “Just talk to me baby, your voice helps me sleep.”
“Are you calling me boring?” Regulus asked, eyes closed.
“No, I just like your voice.”
Regulus hummed, falling back to sleep.
“Reggie, come on.” James peppered kisses all over Regulus’ face, knowing it was his weakness.
Regulus whined, “James, not now. I’m tired.”
Lily woke up then, just barely and just long enough to slap them both with her pillow and mutter “Shut up, both of you.” Before turning away from them, Lily loved them, but was definitely the angriest when tired.
Regulus also turned away from James and wrapped an arm around Lily. James ran his fingers through Regulus’ hair to occupy himself.
“James, what are you doing?” Reg mumbled, half asleep.
“I just love you both so much.” James burrowed his head into Regulus’ neck and placed more kisses there.
“Go to sleep!” Lily cried out, apparently being woken up by him again.
“I can’t.” James whined.
Lily could not take it anymore, “Follow me.” She instructed and he did so, an angry Lily was not to be messed with. She got out of bed with a huff and went into the kitchen. Made a special tea to help him sleep, and then she tucked him in on the couch.
“I have to sleep on the couch?” James raised an eyebrow.”
Lily kissed his forehead, cheek, and then mouth. “Yes, you do. Because I warned you, love.”
“That’s not fair, Lily! You can’t just-“ but he had drank some of the tea, and his eyes were drooping, he was out like a light a second later.
Lily went back to the bed Regulus was in, “He’s asleep now, bloody idiot.” She insulted with affection.
“He’s our idiot.” Regulus added.
“That he is.” Lily kissed Regulus, before curling up into him and going to sleep.
And that is how James Potter swore off caffeine or rather had the coffee hidden from him in his own house.
