Chapter 2
Dazai was letting Blaise lead the way to Lockhart’s class. Not like Dazai could lead the way. He only knew the way to the library (and occasionally the gang’s office). The halls were one of the only things that he couldn’t memorize.
They got there surprisingly fast today. Or, that’s how it felt. They were actually a minute or two late. They both slipped in entirely unnoticed. Much to Dazai’s surprise. Lockhart would usually notice the ‘Demon Student’ entering the room and call it out.
They took their seats in the back of the class. Dazai only got a few glares and glances as he walked past. Everyone was mostly ignoring him today - maybe there was a rumor that they would die from looking at him or something. He shrugged it off at that thought. He was just grateful to not have people staring at him constantly today.
They were barely in class for five minutes before Lockhart was going on one of his many random rants. Lockhart was always boring with these rants. Everything was much too predictable. He would say a random beast and go on, and on about how he killed it and saved a bunch of people. The least he could do is change up the trope a bit. Maybe add some character death - preferably himself.
Luckily, his rant ended when a student interrupted and asked for him to actually teach the class something useful. Dazai was secretly thanking the student in his head. Lockhart looked mildly offended but only responded with a dramatic response.
“Oh, but of course I, Gilderoy Lockhart, will teach you very useful information. As I always do, may I add.”
Dazai only sighed. He was going to go on some random rant about a random creature and tell us how to defend against it. It would be more interesting to learn how to kill them with a ‘muggle’ weapon. Specifically, his pocket knife. He made sure to get a new one after giving his favorite one to Blaise.
Now that he thought about it, fairies were similar to humans, anatomy wise. Could they be killed in the same way as a human? At least he had something to think about while some blockhead teacher blabbers on and on about useless information he’d learnt last year.
---------------
Lockhart’s class went on as usual. Dramatic movements and words… nothing to actually learn… just boring blabbering from him. Until he messed up.
“And the average height of an adult fairy is around one to six inches. Not a very impressive size, if you ask me.”
"Good thing no one asked then." Dazai thought to himself. If he said that out loud, or even mumbled it, Lockhart would only call him out on it and ask him to speak up.
“One to five inches, sir.” A girl’s voice corrected. Hermione. Of course she was the only one who would bother to correct him. No one else would even bother at this point. Everyone had come to terms with being taught the wrong stuff.
“Ah, must’ve slipped my mind. Thank you, Hermione.” He said it through an obvious fake smile, trying to hide his embarrassment.
It looked like he had lost whatever train of thought he had. If he even had any. He glanced around the room, as if trying to find something to talk about. His eyes landed on Dazai. Of course he looked at him. It was his go-to thing to talk about this year.
“I bet Mr. Demon Student knew that. He probably conspires with all types of beats and beings.”
Dazai could only roll his eye, not caring to listen anymore. Those ‘beast and being’ wouldn't dare go near him. They would die from merely touching him. So why would they conspire things with the very thing that could be their demise?
