The horcrux in harry potter’s scar sacrificed itself saving his life and adding to his mother's protection. With it's sacrifice harry gains all of Voldemort’s knowledge. He is safe for now but scared of both the Light (for his status as an ex-Horcrux with all of Voldemort's memories), and the Dark (for having temporarily killed Voldemort), he decides to live his own life.
