Chapter 1

"Reggie" Sirius mumbles "You have to come with me"

Regulus just looks at his bloody and beaten brother and continues to drag him towards the fireplace.

"We're almost there Siri" He says reassuringly "You're almost free"

He would be lying if he said it didn't pain him,if he said that his own wounds were not causing him inmense pain,he would be lying if he said he wasn't terrified, because the lock on the door didn't stand a chance against his mother who would soon discover her heir had taken off and would be angry.

"Regulus" Sirius said "I can't leave you here"

"Shhh" Regulus shushes him "you need to go to the Potter's,they can help you"

Sirius shakes his head, clinging to his smaller, scrawny younger brother, making them both fall to the ground.

"Sirius listen to me!" Regulus said as he quickly stood, pulling Sirius up "You need to use the bloody floo powders and get out of here now!"

"No!" Sirius responded "I can't go until you promise me you'll come with me Regulus"

And in that moment,as he hears heavy footsteps on the upstairs floor,Regulus can only think one thing:

"I'm sorry Sirius"

"Okay" he lies "you go first,I'll be right behind you"

Sirius smiles and Regulus is sure its the blood loss because his normally bright older brother would've never fallen for that.

"We're going to be fine Reggie" Sirius says "I promise"

Regulus smiles as Sirius steps into the fireplace and it widens as his brother dissappears in the cloud of smoke.

He was safe now.

Away from their mother and father, with the Potter's,the family that he always wished for.

And for a moment it pains him,he wants to cry and beg for Sirius to come back.

But when the door is thrown open and his parents start screaming at him, furiously,he knows that it was the right thing.

Even as his mother's spells land on him and cause unbearable pain,he knows that its fine, because at least Sirius will be safe,at least Sirius is away.

At least Sirius is free.
