evan was sitting in the hospital room. staring into space until he noticed stirring beside him.
he turns his head towards regulus, his gaze turning soft as he starts to slowly wake up.
regulus lets out a small whine as he blinks a few times, getting used to the bright white lighting.
“reg..?” evan whispers softly
regulus lets his gaze fall on Evan, looking slightly dumbfounded.
“what the fuck happened…?” he croaks.
evan takes his pale hand into his own tanned one.
“you got shot… at least that’s what would be logical considering they had to remove a literal bullet from your chest.” evan says, voice full of sympathy.
regulus nods.
“oh yeah, i remember now.” he shivers at the memory but this action leads to him wincing in pain.
“shh shh shh..” evan whispers while squeezing his hand.
regulus suddenly gasps for air and Evan’s eyes widen. he decides to immediately call for the nurse.
the heart monitor beside them starts to register a spike in regulus’s heart rate, and a soft ringing sound fills the room as the warning alarm goes off.
a few moments later, the door bursts open, and three nurses rush into the room, their expressions filled with concern. They swarm around regulus’s bed while evan takes a few steps back. one rushing to the heart monitor, another checking his vitals and oxygen levels, and the third gently touching his arm to get your attention.
regulus however is too far gone in his panic to reply to anyone or anything.
the nurse by the heart monitor quickly silences the alarm, and the one taking his vitals speaks urgently.
"just try to breathe calmly, love. It's okay. take slow, deep breaths."
the other nurse gently dabs a cool cloth against regulus’s forehead, trying to soothe him.
regulus just continues gasping for air. at some point his eyes start to flutter shut due to the lack of oxygen.
noticing his eyes starting to close, the nurses' concern rises even further. one of them quickly turns to the other.
"get the oxygen mask."
the other nurse quickly grabs a small mask from a nearby cabinet and positions it over his nose and mouth, turning on the oxygen supply.
the nurse gently fastens the oxygen mask over his nose and mouth, making sure it's secure and comfortable. Slowly, the flow of oxygen begins to regulate his breathing, and regulus’s gasps for air start to subside into more measured breaths.
the nearest nurse pats his arm softly, watching him intently as his breathing begins to stabilize under the oxygen mask.
after a while regulus slowly starts to fall asleep again and the nurses leave the room.
evan takes out his phone to update their friends

after a while regulus wakes up again, almost immediately turning towards evan but letting out a loud whine as he does so.
“fuck fuck fuck that hurts..” he whines.
evan walks over to his bed and sits down in the chair next to it.
“shh, what hurts reg?” evan asks.
regulus brings a hand up to his chest pointing exactly where it hurts.
“do you want me to ask the nurse for painkillers?” evan asks, look full of genuine affection.
regulus just nods in reply as evan calls the nurse over for the second time today.
the nurse enters the room not long after.
“what’s wrong, sweetheart? can I help you?” she asks regulus.
evan replies before regulus can.
“he would really like some painkillers. if that is possible.” evan responds.
the nurse nods.
“of course. I’ll inject them via your IV okay?”
“mhm.” regulus hums as the nurse gets to work and injects the sedative into regulus’s IV.
“it won’t take long for them to work love.” the nurse smiles before exiting the room and leaving evan and regulus alone once again.
regulus sighs as he waits for the drugs to affect him.
“evan can I have my phone?”
evan nods and hands him the phone.
