Chapter 1
This is the story of a young girl named Jane who was a quiet and reserved student. Although she was an excellent student and always at the top of her class, she never sought attention or recognition from her peers. Instead, she preferred to stay in the background and avoid the spotlight. Jane's introverted nature led many of her classmates to assume that she spent all of her free time studying in the library.
However, two people knew a different side of Jane - her best friends, George and Fred Weasley. To them, Jane was a vital player in any of their major pranks. Despite her reserved nature, Jane had a mischievous streak that only the Weasley twins could bring out in her. They knew that behind her quiet exterior lay a creative and daring spirit, always willing to take risks and push boundaries. Whether it was rigging a classroom with fake spiders or sneaking into the forbidden section of the library, Jane was always up for a challenge.
Jane's name held a special significance that only her adopted father, Severus Snape, knew about. Her full name was Jane Black Potter-Snape, and it was a name that honored her past and the people who had shaped her life. Jane's name was a tribute to her biological father, Regulus Black, who had passed away before she was born. It was also a way to honor her mother, Charity Potter, who had died when Jane was just a year old. After her mother's death, Jane was sent to live with her aunt and uncle, Lily and James Potter, for a brief period. Sadly, they too passed away just two years later, leaving Jane completely alone.
Despite the immense loss she had experienced, Jane found solace in her adopted father, Severus Snape. He became her constant companion and confidant, always there to offer her guidance and support. Snape remained a pillar of strength for Jane as she navigated the trials of growing up, working through the pain of her past and building a future filled with hope and promise.
After a long year of eagerly waiting, Jane finally returned from her annual trip to America. She had been looking forward to this trip for months, as it was her chance to catch up with her mother's old friend, who had become like an extended family to her over the years. As soon as she walked into the house, she couldn't wait to announce her arrival, "Uncle Cape, I'm back!"
Snape, who was sitting in the living room, looked up from his book with a hint of sarcasm in his voice, "Really, you're 13 and you're still calling me that?" He knew that he would never be able to shake off that nickname, no matter how hard he tried.
Jane, without missing a beat, replied, "Yes, because it fits you perfectly." Snape raised an eyebrow, prompting Jane to continue, "Anywhere you go, the wind seems to always face you, making your cape look like that of a superhero." She said that with a smirk on her face, proud of her ability to tease him just the right amount.
Severus Snape stood before Jane with a look of regret etched on his face. "I am so sorry, Angel, I have to go early this year," he apologized. Jane's face fell as she heard the news. "What? Why?" she asked, her voice tinged with sadness.
"Again, I am so sorry. Ablus needs us to be there earlier this year," Severus explained. He knew how much Jane was looking forward to spending time together, but his obligations to Ablus were pressing.
Desperate to not be separated from Severus, Jane quickly asked, "Can I come with you?" She hoped that Severus would agree to let her join him, even if it meant adjusting her plans. "But what about the train? You always love the train?" he asked, hoping to distract her.
Jane was filled with longing as she spoke to Severus. "Yeah, but I just got back, and I was hoping to spend some time with you," she said. Being with Severus was more important to her than anything else in the world, even though she loved traveling by train.
Severus and Jane were discussing their plans for the day. They had to buy some books and then head to Hogwarts. Severus agreed to buy the books on the way there to please Jane. Jane was thrilled and shouted, "Yeah!" But there was a catch. Severus told Jane that she had to talk to Sprout once they got to Hogwarts. Jane was puzzled and asked why. Severus explained that Albus had talked to the Ministry of Magic to allow her to have a time-turner, and Sprout was the one who was supposed to break the news to Jane.
Jane couldn't believe her ears. She would get a time-turner, and she could keep it too! She was over the moon with excitement. Severus realized that he had made a mistake by telling Jane about the time-turner himself. He regretted not letting Sprout tell Jane about it in person. He thought that Jane might not give the same reaction to Sprout that she gave him.
Jane was confident that she could act just as surprised when Sprout told her about the time-turner. She was sure that her acting skills were top-notch. She playfully teased Severus for doubting her abilities. She told him that her reaction would be even more dramatic when Sprout broke the news to her.
