Listening To You Harp On 'Bout Some New Soulmate

“She's so perfect,”

blah, blah, blah.

Marlene couldn't stand Mary's non-stop yapping about Emmaline vance.

A year six; same as them, ravenclaw. with straight, black hair, that she had grown out to her lower back.

Mary had newly discovered that she had brown eyes. not that Mary would have found out any faster by staring at the back of her head, but who was going to stop her from trying?

Marlene had brown eyes too, not like Mary had noticed, not the same way she noticed Emmaline's.

Not that it mattered, It wasn't anything special.

Emmaline rolls the sleeves of her uniform up to her elbows, and wears white knee highs with black strap mary janes.

none of which would have occurred to Marlene if Emmaline had ceased to catch Mary's eye in charms earlier that day.

“She wears this kiwi flavored lip gloss, it doesn't have any tint in it–” Mary's jabbering continued on getting more detailed and equally as random.

Marlene nodded, smiling, trying to unnoticeably tune Mary out whilst fiddling with her rings.

“Marls?” Marlene looked up catching Mary's smug gaze. “Merlin, I've bored you to tears.” Mary laughed, her face lighting up as her shoulders shook.

“Just about, Mare, sorry.” Marlene points to her head. “My withering attention span seems to have snapped.” She says faux solemnly.

Mary grins at her, moving to sit next to Marlene on the foot of her bed.

“I mean, there's only so much swooning a person can take.” Marlene quips, smugly bumping her shoulder with Mary's.

“Merlin, shut up.” Mary remarks, giving Marlene a playful shove.

Marlene grins at her. A teeth bearing, eye crinkling grin. heart on her sleeve, in her hands, outstretched to Mary. willing, begging, pleading silently for her to take it, and treat it with caution.

But Mary didn't hear her. Mary's laughter died down along with Marlene's, breathless flush remaining painted on their cheeks.

Mary rested her head on Marlene's shoulder, ducking slightlg to meet marlenes height. Contently unbeknownst to the latter's fatal attempt to force the rising heat from their cheeks.
