Hogsmeade Shivers

The arrival of October brought with it an unwelcoming dampness that enveloped the grounds and spread throughout the castle. Madam Pomfrey, found herself overwhelmed with cases of sudden colds among both the staff and students. Outside, raindrops, large and relentless, pounded against the castle windows for days on end.

However, the dreadful weather did not end trips to Hogsmeade.

Remus was lying on his bed, dressed and ready to leave while Sirius frantically tried to pick out an outfit for their Hogsmeade trip.

“This?” Sirius asked, showing the twentieth shirt option, which to Remus looked the same as the last nineteen.

“Yeah, that looks great, love. Ready to go? Pete and Prongs are waiting downstairs..” Remus trails off as Sirius turns back to the dresser fumbling with more clothes.

“Okay okay, I get the hint.. What about this?” Sirius asks again, holding up a pair of ripped black jeans and a black graphic tee that had been cropped roughly by Sirius in the middle of the night when he thought he could sew.

“Love,” Remus sighs softly, standing up and wrapping his arms around Sirius's waist, “Anything you wear will look fabulous, alright? As long as you won’t be cold.”

Sirius smiles, “I never get cold.”

Remus snorts, and begins to walk out of the dorms and down the stairs into the common room before he peaks back in to remind Sirius, “Bring a jacket.”

Sirius rolls his eyes, getting changed into the outfit he had finally chosen before walking down the stairs, with no jacket in hand.

Pete and James just look relieved that they can finally leave, James smiles and stands up immediately at the site of Sirius walking down the stairs, “Now that the queen has chosen his royal outfit, let go!” James wraps his arm teasingly around Sirius’s shoulder as they walk out of the common room, Remus and Peter trail behind.

“Won’t he be cold?” Pete asks, looking to Remus with a frown.

Remus simply sighs and shrugs, succumbing to the knowledge he’ll give up his jacket eventually.

-------------

As always, Hogsmeade was a charming little village adorned with cozy cottages and quaint shops. Enchanted candles shimmered and swayed from the branches of the trees, casting a magical glow over the entire scene. The village was blanketed by a chilly mist, marking the first dry day in almost a week.

As the group strolled through the quaint village, they meanwondered through narrow alleys and ducked into shops. While Pete and James ventured into a bustling pub in search of a drink, Remus remained outside, and Sirius accompanied him.

They sat in comfortable silence for a few minutes, Remus watched how his boyfriend tried to play off the cold he was feeling. Sirius swayed from side to side, wrapping his arms around himself, occasionally even blowing hot air onto his cold fingers.

“What’re you staring for?”

“Oh nothing, just waiting to see how long you last before you admit not bringing a jacket was a bad idea,” Remus shrugs, taking a cig from his coat pocket and lighting it.

Sirius frowns and rolls his eyes, “I’m not cold.”

Remus looks Sirus up and down and raises an eyebrow, taking a drag of his cigarette, he throws it onto the ground and stubs it out with his boot before he takes off his jacket and wraps it around Sirius's shoulders.

“Hey! I told you I’m fin-,” Sirius is cut off as his boyfriend tugs him into a hug, Remus rests his chin on top of Sirius's head, and Sirius sighs, “You know what, never mind, this feels a lot better.”

“Why didn’t you tell me, Love?” Remus asks softly, nuzzling his face into Sirius's cold hair.

“Cause I knew you were right..”

Remus let out a playful snort as he leaned back, breaking away from the hug to gently plant a kiss on his boyfriend's lips. He then took his hand and led him away from the lively atmosphere of the pub. Sirius shot Remus a quick glance, his expression reflecting a mix of amusement and affection.

"They'll be fine. Because of you, I'm going to be freezing."

The next morning Remus wakes up to the sound of sniffles and groans.
