A ritual gone wrong?
"Are we sure this is a good idea?" Ron asks the other two. "No." Hermione answers him. "We are sure it's a bad idea, actually."Harry adds,"However, today is also the only day we can do this and we really need it if we want to survive."
The three are currently in the ritual room of Grimmauld Place, preparing for a ritual. To be exact, they have created a ritual to help them connect to their magic easier and to generally strengthen their core. The only problem with this ritual is that they have never properly tested it, in other words, they don't know if it's safe to use.
Once the preparations are complete, the three step into the ritual circle, share one last determined look, and begin chanting.
The magic around the room grows denser and gathers in the middle of the circle. As the chant progresses the magic seems to reach out to them, touching them, and connecting to their cores.
It feels freeing and overwhelming, all at once. It's an all consuming fog, and they can feel it surround them, changing them, and remaking them into something brand new.
This is where they notice that things went wrong. The magic is only supposed to reach out to their cores, strenghening them, but it seems to encase them, reaching every aspect of their being. The three share a worried and slightly scared look, but don't stop chanting. To stop in the middle of a ritual is a death sentence after all.
The magic reaches an unforeseen peak and seemingly explodes just as they finish chanting.
All Harry can feel for a moment is pain, the pleasant tingling from before turned into what can only be described as a relentless poking of countless needles. The feeling of being surrounded by a dense fog turned into a relentless pressure that threatened to consume him.
Pain is all he could register as he can distinctly feel his body, and his entire being change. All that's left to do is to pray that he and his friends make it out alive and relatively unscathed.
Sirius was just about to fall asleep when the family magic urges him to get up. His eyes snap open and he groans. It's never easy for him to get any sleep, nightmares, guilt and memories keeping him up at night. However, his family magic basically throwing him out of bed is definitly a new experience. When the ancient magic actually pushes him, he knows something is up, and he has a feeling he's not going to like it.
Never the less, he gets up and follows the directions right into the drawing room, to be exact, right in front of the family tree. At first, he 's confused, not knowing what he was brought here for, but then he sees a light.
His eyes catch on to the one part of the family tree he finds himself searching every time he's here. Dorea Cassiopeia Black and her husband Charlus Henry Potter, it goes on to their son James Charlus Potter and his wife Lily Evans. Then it's followed by their son, Harry James Potter.
Sirius gasps, horrified and slightly panicked as the glowing portrait of his godson reveales his own worst nightmare. "No, no, no, please no..."
Harry James Potter 31. July 1980 - 1. August 1995
Tears are running down his face, denial coming out of his mouth as he sees the silver stars around the portrait, the ones only Blacks can see, the ones marking Harry his heir, disappear. Harry James Potter died at the age of 15, a day after his birthday, in Grimmauld Place.
Just as Sirius is about to completely break down he notices another, brighter, light from a different branch. Doing everything in order to not think about his most recent loss 'No, not him, not sweet Harry', he looks at where the light is coming from. He draws in a sharp breath and stops breathing. He 's pretty sure his heart stopps too, but thats not what's important right now.
Not like the three lines forming under Bellatrix Druella Black and Rodolphus Corvus Lestrange.
Asterion Rodolphus Lestrange, Altair Corvus Lestrange and Aquila Leta Lestrange. All born on 1. August 1980, no death date.
To make matters worse (or better?) the stars that previously disappeared from Harrys portrait make a reappearance around Asterions'.
That should be impossible. Even though he doesn't have an heir, Bellatrix isn't from the main line. Her son should have no claim to the heirship, not unless he named him heir, and he only named one person heir.
Harry James Potter.
The date of birth and date of death match. Sure, there are 15 years apart but that doesn't matter, not really, not with magic involved anyway. What matters is the day, and the day matches.
Sirius uses his authority as Lord Black to make the tapestry look like it did bevore this happened and runs out of the room. The only place something like this could have happened is the ritual chamber. He doesn't even care that his godson is probably a Lestrange now, and not his best friends son . He only hopes and prays to the gods that he is alive.
When he finally makes it to the chamber, he throws the door open. There they are. Three identical looking teenagers, very obviously blacks, passed out on the floor in what looks like a failed ritual. One girl and two boys. Upon closer inspection he can clearly see both Rodolphus and Bellatrix in the children. He walks over to his godson, noticing that his scar is gone, and kneels down, checking for a pulse with baited breath. It's there.
Sirius nearly passes out from relief, but catches himself. He casts a diagnostic charm on all three of them to check for any injuries, one never knows with a failed ritual after all. Thankfully they seem to be perfectly fine, in fact, all previous injuries seem to have healed perfectly, not even scars remain. They are just unconscious due to exhaustion, not uncommon after a magical adoption. After all they just had their entire DNA and their magic rewritten. That's bound to be exhausting.
Now that the adrenalin and panic subside, Sirius can think clearly again. The first thing he notices is that the children can't stay there. Grimmauld Place serves the headquarters for the Order. They would never be accepted here. Not as the children of two of the most notorious death eaters. Not with the dark magical cores they undoubtedly have now.
They need to leave and he will keep them safe, no matter what. He failed to protect his godson once, he won't fail again, and the other two are his family too now. It's time for him to step up as Lord Black and protect his family.
Having made up his mind, he called his house elf. "Kreacher!" The grumpy old elf appeares and sneers at him. "What does filthy no-good master want?" Sirius sighs at the harsh words before straightening up and hardening his gaze, he was raised as the heir to the most ancient and noble house of Black and it seems he'll get to use all those now lessons after all.
"Kreacher, I am Lord Black, whether you like it or not. I know I have been neglecting my duties but that stops now, as does the disrespect you have shown me thus far." Kreachers eyes widen and Sirius could swear he sees the faintest hint of approval in those old eyes. "Now, I need a quill and a peace of parchment, as well as some wax and an envelope. I need to write a letter."
Kreacher bows, grinning like a mad elf "Yes, master", and popped away just to reappear a moment later with the requested items. Sirius quickly writes his letter, puts it in the envelope and seals it with a wax sigil. He gives the letter to Kreacher. "Bring this to Lord Lestrange, if he has a response, bring it to me, even if it's verbal." Kreacher bows again with a "Yes, master!" and pops away.
Corvus Lestrange, Lord of his Estate, is sitting in the sunroom with both of his sons and his daughter in law. They are talking about their progress with the mind healer he made them go to after they got broken out of Azkaban, when he feels the pulling from his family magic. Looking at the others he realizes that they feel it too.
Confused, the group makes their way to the drawing room together, following the direction the family magic pushes them into. Much to their surprise, they end up in front of the family tapestry. After sharing a disbelieving look, they start looking at it, trying to find the reason they have been called here for.
"Erm, Dolphus, Bella ? Is there something you want to tell us?" Rabastan sounded equally disbelieving and hysterical. Three pairs of eyes snapped to him and then to where he was staring. Corvus is convinced he's hallucinating at what he sees.
Rodolphus and Bellatrix on the other hand are one loud noise away from a heart attack. Because there, under their names, three lines are forming. Asterion Rodolphus Lestrange, Altair Corvus Lestrange and Aquila Leta Lestrange, born 1. August 1980. As if that wasn't enough, saphire blue crow feathers are forming around Asterions portrait. The most ancient and noble house of Lestrange has an heir.
"I don't remember having triplets" Bellatrix voice sounds raw and just short of hysterical. She has always wanted children but after being hit by a curse in the war she has become infertile. Rodolphus has never treated her any diferently nor was he ever mad at her. He stayed with her, comforted and reassured her and even Corvus has never blamed her. After their imprisonment they all had to come to terms with the fact that the Lestranges would end with them.
The worst thing for a pure blood is seeing their family line end, but they had resigned themself to that fate. However now, now the tapestry showed them that they have an heir. Not only that, there are three children with their name. That means the Lestrange name can rise again.
In that moment Bellatrix swore to find her children and raise them to the best of her ability. They will wish for nothing, and she will love and protect them with everything she has. She will continue going to the mind healer, as well as a normal one, to make surer she is as healthy as can be, and she will protect her family, even if she has to quit as a death eater. When she looks at her husband, she sees the same conviction shine in his eyes.
In that moment a pop rang through the room and four sets of eyes landed on the house elf that just appeared. A house elf Bellatrix is quite familiar with.
"Kreatcher brings letter from master Black for Lord Lestrange." This surprised Corvus. last time he checked there was no Lord Black, so he has no idea who would write him, nor does he know why. Taking the letter, after casting multiple detection charms on it, he opens it and starts reading.
Dear Lord Lestrange,
As I am sure you have noticed by now, you have three new grandchildren. I write to you now with the information I have so far. Not long ago, my familys magic brought me in front of the family tapestry to inform me of the death of my heir, Harry James Potter. Additionally, I, too, have found the three new additions to my family. Now, imagine my surprise when the oldest, Asterion, was named the new heir Black.
Upon this revelation I went to the ritual chamber and found said new additions in the midst of a failed ritual. It is my beliefe that whatever the original purpose of the ritual was went wrong and resulted in a magical adoption. The previous identities of the three are Harry Potter, Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger.
In case you are worried, the children are unconscious but otherwise unharmed. In fact, all previous injuries have been healed to perfection and not even scars remain. Not even Astorion has any scars left. I have written to you, both to inform you of the situation , and to ask for your position on this.
The Black ancestral home is currently under the fidelius and the headquarters of the Order of the Pheonix. Thus, the three are no longer safe here. I have charmed my family tapestry to look as it did before tonight, but they cannot remain here. I need to know now if you wish for them to live at Lestrange Manor. If so, I would need a vow that no harm will come to them, if not you can simply inform Kreacher of this and he will relay it to me. In that case I will move them to another Black property.
I await your immediate answer, as I will need to move them tonight.
Sirius Orion Black
Lord Black.
After finishing the letter, Corvus reads it once more, this time out loud, to make sure they all have the same information. Bella lets out an offended half when he finishes."Of course, we'll take them. Those are our children." Rodolphus looks fondly at his wife." You are right, but we aren't exactly known for being fond of Harry Potter, Lord Black has every right to be wary."
Bellatrix had to concede the point." It doesn't matter. Harry Potter and his friends are dead. Those are our children now." Corvus smiles at his family, feeling like a big weight has been lifted off his shoulder. He calls one of his own house elves." Cip, tell the other elves to prepare three rooms in the family wing as well as the Topaz room. Then bring me some parchment and a quill."The elf bows and leaves with a short" Yes, Lord Lestrange." "Why the Topaz room, father?" Rabastan asks him, curious. The Topaz room is a medical room, even if it doesn't look like it. It looks more or less like a hogwarts dorm." I believe they would want to be near each other when they wake up and the Topaz room is the only one with multiple beds."
The other three Lestranges have to admit that this is probably the case. Corvus turns to Kreacher. "come with us to the Topaz room, as I understand it, you will be the one to bring my grandchildren here and I believe it's easier to bring them directly to the Topaz room." Kreacher looks like he 's considering the option carefully and nods. "Excellent. Let us go then." He says to his family, sounding pleased.
The group makes their way out of the drawing room and through the long halls of the manor untill they stop in front of a door inlaid with a Topaz, a Smoky Quarz and a black Tournalin. They walk inside and sit down in some armchairs in the back of the room.
It is prominently decorated in the Lestrange colours, Sapphire blue, black and silver. The walls have sapphire blue wallpapers with silver decorations in the form of vines and completed with inlaid clear Quarzes and Topazes, that reflect the sunlight coming in.
The room is about twice as big as a hogwarts dorm and has five four poster beds with multiple fluffy blankets and pillows in different shades of blue and turquoise and a bedside table nex to each .
In the back is a seating area with two armchairs, a loveseat and a couch, all in black and wit pillows in blues and turquise. In the middle of the seating area is an ebony coffee table, in fact all the furniture is made out of ebony. Opposite the beds are a few shelves with potions and some books.
A quill and some parchment appears just as they sat down. Corvus takes the quill and writes a short note on the parchment, then he takes out his wand and makes a small cut on his finger. He smears the blood over the parchment underneath his note and heales his finger. He casts a drying spell on the parchment, folds it and hands it to Kreacher. The note isn't long, it 's just the vow Lord Black wanted from him.
I, Corvus Rabastan Lestrange, Lord of the most ancient and noble house of Lestrange, hereby swear upon my life and my magic that my grandchildren, Asterion Rodolphus Lestrange, Altair Corvus Lestrange and Aquila Leta Lestrange will not be intentionally harmed physically, mentally or emotionally by myself, my sons, Rodolphus Corvus Lestrange and Rabastan Cyrille Lestrange, or my daughter-in-law, Bellatrix Druella Lestrange nee Black with malicious intent towards them, be it directly or indirectly, so mote it be.
"Tell Lord Black that I would appreciate it if the children are brought here immediately and that he is welcome to come along. I promise no harm will come to him."Corvus tells Kreacher, who nods and disappears with the note with a soft pop .
The four members of the Lestrange family sit in anticipation, none of them saying a word while they wait for the arrival of their new family members. They don't have to wait for long as just a moment later they hear another pop and Sirius Black appears together with three teenagers and Kreacher. The teenagers are immediately transported to a bed each.
Sirius looks around the ritual chamber after Kreacher popped away to Lestrange Manor with his letter and grimaces. The children are on the floor in different corners of the room. Seemingly having been thrown back in varying directions after whatever they tried to do exploded in their faces. Quite literally if the state of the chamber is anything to go by. It's a miracle they aren't hurt.
He goes up to Asterion first and picks him up, he'd use magic but one should never use a wand in a ritual chamber, or magic in general to be exact. The only magic allowed here is ritual magic and house elf magic , everything else could have catastrophic consequences, especially after a failed ritual.
Sirius carries Asterion to the door and lays him down on his back next to it. Then he does the same with Aquila and Altair. After the children are a safe distance away from the mess that used to be a ritual, he goes to the center and tries to decipher what they tried.
He wasn't bad at runes, in fact he used them quite a bit in the past himself. Nevertheless, no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't for the life of him figure out what they did.
It certainly isn't one that he knows and the runes don't make much sense to him either, it doesn't help that half of them are illegible. Rabastan Lestrange would probably be able to figure it out, now that he thinks about it. If he remembers correctly, then Rabastan was close to completing his mastery in ancient runes when he was sent to Azkaban.
Kreacher chose that moment to come back and hands him a note. "Lord Lestrage said, that he wants the three brought over immediately. He also said that master is welcome to come too. He promised that master won't be hurt." Sirius nods in understanding and looks at the note.
He sighs in relief as he sees the vow, it seems the three children will truly be safer in Lestrange Manor. He is no fool, no matter what others think , he knows very well that a promise means absolutely nothing. Oh, he doesn't doubt that they'll be the perfect hosts to him, but the moment he steps out of line, they'll have him at wand point, all promises forgotten.
That, however, doesn't matter to him right now, he will not let the children go over there alone, with no familiar face to wake up to, no matter what. And, well, he wasn't sorted into Gryffindor for his self-preservation.
He looks down on himself and grimaces, he's still in his sleepwear. "Kreacher, can you make sure I look presentable?" The old elf bows and confirms with a" Of course, master."and snaps his fingers. Sirius loos down on himself again and is relieved to find casual wizarding robes.
"Thank you. Now take the children and me to Lestrange Manor, please." Kreacher nods and snaps his fingers again. Sirius feels like he's floating, everything feels light, untill his feet hit solid ground again and everything feels ten times heavier than usual for a moment. He uses every ounce of self control and practise he ever learned to force himself to not even falter in his posture during the landing.
Sirius looks around the room he landed in for a moment and notices that he's in a healing room typical for manors, a very beautiful and comfortable looking one. Why can't the one in black manor be this nice?
Focusing back on the other people in the room he gives a shallow bow to Corvus. "Thank you for granting me permission to accompany the children to your Manor, Lord Lestrange. It is a pleasure to see you. "There is a flicker of surprise in Corvus' eyes but he gives the same bow back." You're welcome, Lord Blade, I figured they would like a familiar face upon regaining consciousness. Welcome to Lestrange Manor, I guarantee the pleasure is ours."
Sirius nods and turns to the other three." It is a pleasure to see you as well, Rabaston, Rodolphus, cousin Bella. I see you have healed, you look good." They, too, look taken aback by the kind greeting but recover quickly and gave him a bow, Bellatrix' beeing the deepest due to him being the Lord of her birth house.
Rodolphus greets him first." Thank you, Lord Black, it's a pleasure to see you again. "Rabastan follows through with the same greeting and Bellatrix smiles at him." Hello cousin." Sirius smiles back at her before addressing the male Lestranges again.
" Call me Sirius, we're not here on formal business, after all." Corvus inclines his head in agreement." You may call me Corvus then." with that call the attention is on the children.
Bella gasps when she takes them in." Dolphus! They look just like us, it's a perfect mix!" Her smile is fond, pureblood mask forgotten in the face of her three new children. Rodolphus chuckles softly." I would hope so, they are our children, after all." Rabuston looks at them curiously."I wonder what eye colour they'll have? The blacks are known for their silverish grey eyes but we are known for our sapphire blue ones."
Corvus looks at them with a small smile. "We'll have to wait untill they wake up and see, I'm afraid. Sirius is there any thing you didn't mention in the letter?" Sirius relates in the casual atmosphere and with the loving looks the Lestranges send the three.
" I'm afraid not much , Corvus. I looked at the ritual, but half of the runes were illegible after it quite literally blew up in their faces. It's a miracle they are unharmed. The runes I could read didn't make any sense either, it was definitly no ritual I've ever seen. I can 't even tell you what the purpose of the ritual was." He sighs. Rabastan looks very intrigued by that revelation while the other three just share concerned looks.
"It seems we'II get our answers sooner then we thought." Rabastans voice was closely followed by a groan and every one gathers around Asterions bed, noticing that he's about to wake up.
The first thing Harry registers after opening his eyes is that everything is way to bright, causing him to groan and shut his eyes again. When his eyes are used to the brightness of the room, he loos around.
He's in the most beautiful room he has ever seen surrounded by five people, Sirius, a woman that loos very similar to him, and three men that look very similar to each other. He's also sure he sees everything way better then he ever has in his entire life.
Upon checking he confirms that he isn't wearing his glasses. In fact, all those aches in his body are gone, he feels better then he ever had.
"Sirius? What happened? Where am I? And who are these people?" Said people are looking at his eyes with something akin to wonder and fondness? He's really confused. Sirius just smiles at softly at him. "Try to calm down, Aster- Harry." Harry frowns. Why does it suddenly feel so wrong to be addressed by his name?"I' II explain everything we know in a moment. You are at Lestrang Manor, I brought you here after a ritual went wrong causing you three to pass out . These are Lord Corvus Lestrange, Rodolphus Lestrange, Bellatrix Lestrange, she's also my cousin, and Rabastan Lestrange." He gestures at each person while introducing them and they, in turn, nod at him with a smile.
That causes Harry to frown again, before he remembers every thing and he panics ." The Ritual! Where are Ron and 'Mione?" Sirius tries to calm him down, gently rubbing his back. "They are fine, don't worry." He gestures to two beds next to him, where a boy and a girl a lying, unconscious, and definitely not looking the slightest bit like his best friend.
" The ritual you used didn't harm any of you, but it resulted in a change of appearance and unconsciousness." At this he looks unsure at the other four and, after getting a nod from them, continues. "And a change in name. You have somehow managed to magically adopt yourself. Your new name is Asterion Rodolphus Lestrange, you are the son of Rodolphus and Belatrix and the oldest of a set of triplets."
Asterion (Harry?) is shocked, not comprehending the words at all for a moment. Then he screws." What?!" Sirius winces, being a bit to dose, and rubs his ears. Asterion is reeling, but deep down he knows it's true, the name Asterion Lestrange simply feels right, while Harry Potter just feels wrong. He sighs and looks at his, apparently, new parents. Merlin, he has parents now. And siblings, his best friends are his siblings now.
His parents look at him with a smile, seemingly fond. He smiles back, a bit hesitant, then turns back to Sirius."Ron and Mione, what are their names now and why aren't they awake yet?"
"Rons name is Altair Corvus Lestrange and Hermione is Aquila Leta Lestrange. I'm not sure why they haven't woken up yet, but I think it's because you already had the Black family magic, so your core didn't have to change as much. A magical adoption completely gets rid of your previous DNA and family magics. Whoever you were before gets declared dead by magic. That's why it's common to pass out after one, your magical core completely changes. In cases like this, even the core colour changes. Both the Blacks and the Lestranges are dark families, after all. "Sirius explains, wondering how he will take the news of being a dark wizard now.
Harry nods, slowly taking everything in, and realizes he's surprisingly okay with it, that could also be the shock talking tho. Sirius is slightly surprised that he seems to take this so well and looks at the elder Lestranges. They seem to be equally surprised and relieved.
Rabastan clears his throat, catching everyone's attention, and looks at Asterion." I know this is all probably a bit much, but can you tell us what ritual you three used, what the purpose was and if you can feel anything else that's different? Sirius said he couldn't identify it and it would be best, if we could determine what went wrong and what side effects it caused."
Asterion look s really hesitant at that and Rabastan sends him a comforting smile."I promise we won't be mad but this is important to know, and I might be able to tell you what you did wrong, I was nearly finished with my mastery in ancient runes and loved to research their role in rituals before my imprisonment."
Asterion sighs at Rabastans words but nods. "You wouldn't be able to recognise it, it doesn't really exist. We invented it. "That resulted in multiple gasps."I know what went wrong. The ritual was never tested. We created it because someone or something always threatens our lives one way or another when we're at hogwarts. We wanted to create some sort of magical core growth, like everyone experiences at eleven and seventeen, but artificial." Another round of gasps and a bunch of worried looks that Asterion ignores.
" It was meant to strengthen our core, allow for easier and faster access to it, make wandless and wordless magic easier and connect us more to our family magic. Now that I think about it, it worked. I do feel like I'm stronger and I can access my magic easier, too." Rabastan looked extremely impressed and everyone else looked at him in awe.
"We must have messed up with the runes regarding the family magic, if it resulted in a magical adoption. We'll have to go over it later. The ritual only works on a sabbat and we can't do it at hogwarts, which is why we did it, despite not having tested it enough. We did, however, make sure it wouldn't have any lethal side effects. We did it for survival, not to risk our life."
Five pairs of eyes are now staring at him with varying emotions and Asterion feels quite uncomfortable, suppressing the urge to shift under their gazes. Just then he heard two groans from next to him.
His best friends, now siblings, are finally waking up. When they wake up, they are, like him, confused and slightly panicking, so Asterion quickly calms them down and explains everything to them. Once the whole story is finished, for the second time, Corvus conjures a big mirror.
"You might want to take in your new appearance. "The new triplets take one look at each other, before getting out of their respective beds and walking over to the mirror to take their new appearance in.
They have to admit they're are quite beautiful and definitely triplets. Asterion and Altair look exactly the same and Aquila looks like a female version of them. They have the same high cheekbones that every Blade has, they are thin, tall, even Asterion is tall, and have jet black hair with slight waves. It seems their mothers curly hair mixed with their fathers straight hair, creating soft waves. All in all, they look aristocratic and elegant. However, the most catching feature is their eyes. They have a mix of their parents eyes. The general colour is the sapphire blue from the Lestrange family but there are some flecks of the silver-gray the Blacks are known for, that seem to be swirling around. They look like small galaxies. No wonder everyone stared at Asterions eyes when he woke up.
"Well, "Aquila says, breaking the silence. "they say if you wouldn't date your male version, you need to lower your standards. I don't think that's needed." Asterion snorts. "l'm gay. How is that work then?"Now Altair and Aquila are snorting.
The three look at each other and burst out laughing. After they calmed down somewhat, Asterion added another comment "At least the untamable birdsnest is gone.", which caused another round of laughter from the three.
The four adults gaze fondly at the three children, glad that they are happy. However, unfortunately they still have a lot of things to discuss. Then again, it is quite late, so maybe they should wait for most of it till tomorrow.
Rodolphus cleaves his throat." While I'm glad that you don't seem bothered by the whole situation right now, it is quite late and we have a lot to talk about tomorrow. I suggest we all go to sleep."he looks at his new children." You have, of course, your own rooms in the family wing."the triplets are surprised but also happy and, now that they think about it, also quite tired.
"Wait." Sirius catches their attention."I'll need to return to the head- quarters and the others are definitely going to notice your absence." Altair gets a pensive look on his face, trying to think of a plan." You said Harry Potter is considered dead by the tapestry, right?" At Sirius confirmation, he continued.
"That means my picture also fell from the clock. They'll know Ron Weasley is dead. Edit the tapestry again, so that we remain unseen but Harry s death date is visible. Then get some fake bodies and stage our death. The golden trio "He sneered slightly at the name, none of them liked the monica." died trying to do a dangerous ritual." The other two nod, considering it a good plan. It certainly won't raise suspicion, it's something the 'gryffindor golden trio' would do, after all.
Sirius is a bit surprised that they would be this okay with their own death. Then again, a magical adoption doesn't just change someones magic and DNA, it changes someones whole identity. They wouldn't identify themselves with their past identities anymore. It is as if they are different people, and because of the potion, they are.
They are completely different people that just coincidentally share some memories and hobbies wit'the golden trio' , but they wouldn't associate themselves with them. This is the reason why magical adoptions are normally done with very young children, or were, since they are illegal now.
Sirius has to admit that the plan is quite good, though. He sighs and nods, seems like he'll be awake for a bit longer tonight. He says his goodbyes to everyone and calls Kreacher. However right before he tells him to bring him back, he's stopped by Corvus." If you can manage to get away, you may come back tomorrow at eleven, we have much to discuss."
Sirius is surprised that they would actually allow him to come back, but nods after a moment."I'll try my best to make it." Corvus nods at his answer, seemingly pleased and Sirius is about to tell Kreacher to take him home, when he gets stopped again.
"Wait!" Asterion calls out to him, then he looks at Rabastan. " Rabastan you said you were close to becoming a runes master, right?" At his confused nod, Asterion continued."Do you have the necessary materials to create a rune stone? If so, can I borrow it for a moment?" Rabastan gets even more confused at the request, but does notice that Aquila and Altair seem to have figured out what Asterion is planning.
Shrugging he calls Cip, might as well give his nephew what he wants ." Bring me my materials for rune carving and a suitable stone." Cip disappears as soon as he said that and the items he requested appear at the coffee table. Rabastan looks at his nephew and gestures at the items." They're all yours?
The kid practically beams at him, and damn, he's so going to spoil the three. Bella was right, the kids will want for absolutely nothing, they'll make sure of it.
Asterion goes over to the coffee table and carves a rune into the stone with a precision that can only be achieved after a lot of practice. Upon closer inspection, he notices it's a recording rune, which honestly just confuses him more, why on earth would he need to record something right now?
Asterion finishes the runestone and pushes some of his magic into it to activate it. Once it was activated he reaches out to his magical core and uses a spell of their own creation, grinnig when he notices just how easy this is thanks to the ritual.
He holds his hand over the stone and channels his magic into it. "Soni fluctus! It translates roughly into 'sound waves' and that's essentially what it causes. Depending on the control one has over their magic and how much power they put into it, someone can change volume, frequency, tone, and strength.
In this case, Asterion controls the frequency to form a sort of code, the tone is high enough to not be heard by the human ear. When he's finished he walks over to Sirius and hands him the stone.
" I recorded a code made out of sound waves. Go to my trunk and activate the stone. It will open to a secret compartment containing only three vials of blood, labeled. Take them out and close the trunk again. Then, pour the blood over the trunk belonging to the person, whose name is labeled on the vial. All three trunks will open secret compartments. Take everything in them and bring it back with you tomorrow, please."
The adults stare at the three in shock untill Aquila chuckles, snapping them out of
it."We might have been a bit paranoid with those things, but it's better to be safe than sorry." Sirius just shakes his head with a fond smile on his face." Alright, kids, I'll get your stuff and I'll bring it with me tomorrow." The three nod, a grateful/ smile on their lips and Sirius disappears with Kreacher, this time without an interruption.
with that, only the Lestrange family is left. The triplets look at each other, rather tense, finding this situation rather awkward. Corvus takes a step towards them, a soft smile on his lips.
"As stated previously, the house elves have prepared rooms for you, as it's already
late, we should all head to bed. We will answer any questions you may have, as well as talk about how to proceed from here tomorrow. Follow me, I will show you to your rooms." with that, Corvus leaves the room and everyone falls in step behind him. Rodolphus, Bellatrix and Rabastan approach the triplets during their walk down the long corridors of Lestrange Manor and Rodolphus starts the conversation.
" Father can come off as very cold and strict sometimes, we all can, but /assure you, we're all happy you are here, and I'm not saying this just because the house of Lestrange finally has an heir. I'm talking about all of you. I have always wanted
children, as has Bella, but we were unable of having any. I understand that this is new and might be going a bit fast, but I would be honoured if you call me father one day. However, no matter what, I can promise you that we will support you, and that we'll never favour one of you. Though, Asterion, my condolences, you'll have to suffer through the obligations of an heir in social gatherings sooner or later."
Rodolphus said the last sentence with a teasing tone and chuckles at the look on his sons face. Asterion groans and his new parents, uncle and siblings laugh at his suffering. The small speech seems to have fulfilled his purpose because the three children are much more relaxed now and the ice has successfully been broken.
It was just in time too, because they reached the family wing and with it their rooms. Corvus stopped and gestured at a door on the end of the corridor. " That is the Lord suite, my rooms, I generally don't like being disturbed when in there, but you can always come to me in case of an emergency."
Then he gestures at the first door on the left of his own." That is the door to
Bellatrix 'and Rodolphus' rooms, next to them are Rabastans rooms."
then he gestures to the right side." These three are the doors to your rooms, starting with Asterion, then Altair, and then Aquila. Currently they all look the same, in both, the layout and the colour scheme, which consists of the colours of house Lestrange. Should you wish to change or personalise anything, don't hesitate to do so. If it's something you can not do on your own, call a house elf or ask me. I will introduce you to the house elves, as well as assign you all a personal elf tomorrow. Breakfast is at ten, an elf will wake you up at nine."
The triplets take that in and nod in understanding. Corvus' expression softens, just slightly but enough to be notable, and he looks at them with fond eyes. "I would be honoured if you would call me grandfather, but if that makes you uncomfortable or if you feel that it's too soon, then Corvus is fine too."
The triplets look at each other, seemingly communicating with their eyes, before nodding. Asterion smiles as he looks up at their grandfather. " We are honoured to call you grandfather. "That makes a fond smile appear on Corvus' face."I'm glad. Good night, kids." "Good night, grandfather." They answer in perfect sync as Corvus vanishes in his rooms with a slight chuckle.
Rabastan stepped up to them and gave all of them a light hug, noting that they tense at the contact and not liking the things that his mind immediately brings up. He just hopes he's wrong, it's too soon to say anyway, even if the tensing, the hesitation to speak freely, and the speed at which they seem to accept this situation doesn't paint a good picture. Rabastan vows to keep an eye on them.
After letting go, he gives the kids a grin."I don't really care what you call me weather it 's uncle Bustan, uncle Rab, uncle Rabastan or if you leave the uncle out. However, I would feel at ease if you talked to me before you try any other self-made rituals." He winks at the three." Just in case."
"sure, uncle Bastan." came the chorused reply. For the first time the triplets understand why the Weasley twins like their twin speech so much. While they would probably never use the finishing each others sentences' part regularly, they have to admit that speaking in sync is extremely fun. They also quite like their new under even Asterion, who doesn't have any good associations with the relation, doesn't mind addressing Rabastan as' uncle Baston'.
Rabastan grins at them and ruffles their hair, before going over to his own room."
Good-night, kids. Good night, Dolphus, Bella." After everyone said good nicht back, the triplets chorusing once more, he vanishes into his own rooms.
Bellatrix, having also noticed the three tensing at Rabastans hug, moves a bit slower, making it obvious what she's about to do, but not slow enough to be suspicious. When she hugs them, they tense for only a moment before relaxing into it. Bellatrix, having paid special attention to their reaction, vows to talk to them about their previous guardians some time soon.
She lets go of her children, not letting her worries show on her face, and smiles at them." I understand, if you aren't comfortable calling me 'mother' yet, and while I do hope you can call me your mother at one point, Bella is fine too." She gave them a kind smile.
Asterion thought about the offer, he always wanted a family, parents. He never really cared about his previous parents, he never knew them and his previous relatives made sure he didn't have a good picture of them. Therefore he never really missed them either, just the idea of them. But now he has the chance to make that idea a reality, the chance to have parents, the chance to have a family, and he's going to take that chance. Having come to a decision he looks up at his parents and smiles, a bit shy. "I'd like to call you mother and father."
Altair is deep in thought, he used to love his parents, back when he was still a kid, but his dad was basically never home and when he was, he was too busy trying to figure out how his newest muggle thing worked to pay attention to his children.
His mom wasn't much better either. She only really cared about Ginny, everyone else was irrelevant, except when the twins made another prank or when Bill and Charlie came over to visit. Then she would show her disapprovement, and she would do so quite loudly.
Their new father promised earlier that there would be no favoritism between the three, and they didn't seem like the type to scream when you did something wrong. He honestly doesn't mind the idea of the two as his new parents.
Plus, he doesn't really feel like Ron Weasley anymore and doesn't really feel connected to his previous family either. If anything, he's happy to be free of them. He smiles as he hears his brothers words. "I would also like to call you mother and father."
Aquila is honestly a bit overwhelmed. She's never been in such a huge manor, and she's supposed to live here? This is like a fairy tail come true. Then again, she has Asterion and Altair with her, her brothers, she isn't alone. She also has her new family, which is overwhelming all on it's own.
They portray themselves as cold, distant, elegant, and distinguished, but the look in their eyes when they look at them betray a fondness. Her past parents have never looked at her like that. They, much like Asterions past relatives, didn't like magic much. Thankfully, they were never as bad as the Dursley they just didn't want to see her. When she was home, they often started work early and worked late, which is also the reason why she spent so much time of the holidays at the Burrow or, this year, in Grimmauld Place.
She kind of likes the idea of them as her parents, she could get used to the fondness in their eyes, and to the free hugs. She's never been hugged by anyone other than her brothers. Hearing their answers, she smiles. Seems like she isn't the only one who likes this new family. "I agree with them, I also want to address you as mother and father."
Bellatrix can't keep the smile off of her face and hugs them again, noting that it takes less time for them to relax this time. Progress. She'lI have to talk to the others about her worries though, and soon.
She lets go of her children, the smile still on her face. "Goodnight, children. In case you need something, don't hesitate to knock on our door." Rodolphus takes this as his cue to give his children a quick hug as well, having a fond smile on his face. "Good night, you three."
The triplets decide to go back to talking in sync and chorus their answer. "Good night, mother, father." After that Bellatrix and Rodolphus go into their rooms. The triplets follow their parents example after a long hug and another round of good nights.
When Asterion goes into his room he freezes for a moment. His room is beautiful. Like Corvus said, the room is decorated primarily in the colours of house Lestrange, Sapphire Blue, Silver and Black, but what he didn't mention is that the theme fits the Black family perfectly .
The ceiling is enchanted to show the night sky, with a clear view of the stars and no clouds. One of the walls is entirely made out of glass and leads to a big balcony with a seating area that he can't see in the dark , while the other three are painted sapphire blue with silver accents that look like stars.
There are heavy, floor length curtains in sapphire blue and silver with a subtle feather emproidery in the same colours that shimmers in the light of the fire. The floor is made of an ebony parkett. On the wall across from him is a queen sized ebony bed with the fluffiest blankets and pillows he has ever seen on top of a silver plush rug .
There is even a plush blanket on there. The pillows and blankets are different shades of blue, as well as turquoise and silver , with saphire blue and silver being the most prominent. Next to the bed are two ebony bedside tables, one on each side, with what- looks like feathers engraved. Now that he looks closer he notices the bed has the same engraving.
Next to the wall are a few empty bookshelves, all ebony, that Asterion vows to fill up soon. Across the bookshelves, on the same wall with the door he came in from, is a lit ebony fireplace with the feather engravings on the side.
In front of the fireplace is a seating area consisting of a sofa, two armchairs and an ebony coffee table with the engravings on the sides on top of another silver plush rug. The sofa and the armchairs are made out of ebony and sapphire blue satin and have multiple pillows and blankets the same colour as on the bed.
There are four doors in total, all ebony, excluding the glass door leading to the balcony, the one he came in from, and three others. Two of them are on the wall opposite of the balcony and there is an ebony dresser, also engraved with feathers, between them.
The last one is between the glass wall and the bookshelves. Asterion enteres the one closest to the entrance first and finds a walk in closet entirely made of ebony, complete with the same engravings he already saw in his bedroom, utterly empty, and with a huge mirror inside. It's impressive to say the least but he's not sure how he's supposed to ever fill this.
He notices another door, about the same direction as the second door in his room and walks through, just to stare in disbelief once more. The bathroom was obviously designed to look like a cave, because that's what it is.
There is a rain shower on the left next to him and a bathtub the size of a small pool built in the floor across from him, next to which is a shelf full of different potions and oils to put into a bath . Over the bathtub is a huge window built into the cave walls and between the bathtub and the shower is a toilet.
Next to him on the right is a sink with a shelf over it, complete with anything he would need to get ready, which he promptly does, and next to that is another huge mirror built into the cave wall. When he's done he goes through the second door next to the mirror and back into his room.
Asterion goes over to the last door and enters what seems to be a big study. Like in his bedroom, the furniture is made out of ebony and the walls are sapphire blue and inlaid with rainbow fluorites and sapphires.
There are two long bookshelves on his sides, one per wall, only one of which is empty much to Asterions surprise. In front of him are two black armchairs, who, in turn, are in front of a big desk, again with the feather engraving , behind of which is a bigger armchair facing the first two . Underneath it is a turquoise and sapphire blue rug with silver accents, and accross of him, behind the armchair facing him, is a big window.
Asterion yawns and decides to go to bed, as he turns around to leave the study he notices, much to his surprise, a clock over the door, showing it 's one in-the morning. He goes back to his room, closes the curtains with the swish of his hand and goes to bed. It doesn't take long for him to fall asleep after that.
