Part Ten
As the Yule Ball was fast approaching headmaster Dumbledore made it apparent that each house needed to be taught the proper way to dance. As a member of Slytherin it was Snapes duty to teach you all. The lessons caused much laughter and many students gained detention for snide comments about Snape dancing. After many days of practice and practical torture having to learn this from Snape it was a few days till the Yule Ball. The only downside of the whole thing was the fact you couldn't go with the person you truly wanted. You and Cedric had talked about it and decided to just go with friends. As in a female friend so no one suspected anything. It didn't feel good to be hiding it but you didn't want him to get hurt. You didn't really care if people said anything about you but if they said anything about him you might loose it. He had asked Cho Chang. Though she seemed to like him as more then a friend. But you could tell she had wanted Harry to ask her first. And you? Well the only person you could think of that you would have fun with and would go just as a friend was Luna Lovegood. The two of you had actually gotten closer over the months you weren't talking to Draco. She had actually guess that you and Cedric were together. Like she could sense it or something. She says it was the Nargles that told her. The day of the dance was a feat of its own. Everyone running around getting ready and whatnot. You and Cedric had met up to get ready.
"How do I look?" You did a little spin showing off the neat black dress robes.
"You look great. As always."
"Shut it you flatterer. You look good too. I'm sure everyone will be watching you and Cho Dance." Your smile faltered.
"Hey you know you're the only one for me. Shes really just a friend. Were a little close but thats all. You know that." He grabbed your shoulders gently.
"I know. I know. My head just wants to mess with me. Anyways you better go. You have the first dance remember." He caressed your cheek.
"OK. I'll see you there. For good luck?" You smiled and nodded. He kissed the cheek his hand was previously on and made his way out.

You stood in front of the Great Hall waiting for Luna. You heard her soft voice.
"Sorry I'm late. The Nargles took my shoes again." You turned and saw her in a beautiful silver tulle dress with embroidered stars all over it.
"Wow. You look amazing Luna. That dress is absolutely gorgeous." She smiled as she made it to your side.
"Thank you. Shall we go in?" The two of you made your way in. You passed Cedric and Cho as you went. You both smiled lightly at one another.

The Ball kicked off with the champions coming in then doing the first dance. Soon everyone joined in. Even some of the Professors. It started with slow dances and flowed into a band jamming on stage. You and Luna actually had a fun time dancing. People did look. You assumed because of her beautiful dress. But as you went to get a drink you heard otherwise.
"Did you see Y/N and Luna?"
"Yes! They look amazing together!"
"Do you think they're dating?"
"Oh definitely. You don't have that much chemistry and not be together." You walked back with the drinks.
"People think we're dating. They said be looked 'amazing' together." She giggled.
"I imagine they'll get a right shock in a few years." The both of you laughed together and returned to dancing until the dance was over. You returned to your respective dorms.

You and Cedric layed on the floor in your common room. Not much talking just enjoying eachothers company. You looked up at him as you layed against his chest.
"Have you figured out the egg yet? The task isn't too far away now." He sighed.
"Kind of. With no help of Moaning Myrtle. The clue is
'Come seek us where our voices sound,
We cannot sing above the ground,
And while you're searching ponder this;
We've taken what you'll sorely miss,
An hour long you'll have to look,
And to recover what we took,
But past an hour, the prospect's black,
Too late, it's gone, it won't come back.'
I was a little confused at first. But I think there are merpeople in the black lake. And that they're going to or have already taken something from each champion. And then we have an hour to find whatever that is. I assume if we don't find it we can't get it back." You hummed.
"Well has anything gone missing recently?" He shrugged.
"As far as I know no. But maybe they just haven't taken it yet. I guess I'll find out soon." You nodded and snuggled into his side.
"I wonder what they'll take."
