The Letter
Snape was shocked. "You did it at night?" Snape asked heavily confused.
"Yeah, my aunt and uncle didn't like magic. They tried to keep me from coming here my first year." Harry looked down at his awful penmanship. He didn't know if he should feel bad about how bad it was or if he shouldn't think about it.
Snape didn't know what to say. "Well since you won't be living with them anymore you won't have to do it at night." Snape gently patted Harry's head, exiting his room after.
"Professor Snape, I've got what you asked me to get." Draco held up the basket of several different herbs.
"Thank you Draco. Now lets start our lesson." Snape headed to the potion room and held the door open for Draco.
------------
Draco didn't see Harry at lunch and that confused him. Harry hadn't eaten breakfast and now he hadn't eaten lunch. "Where's Harry?"
"His room most likely. Why?" Snape paused eating his sandwich to answer Draco.
"It's just that he hasn't eaten breakfast nor lunch." Draco put his sandwich down and look at Harry's door.
"If he wants to tell you about it he can, but I will not tell you." Snape had put many of Harry's secrets out in the air. He wasn't going to spill more of them. Snape started to eat his sandwich once more. He enjoyed to eat in silence. Draco hesitantly started to eat again.
------------
After finishing lunch Draco went to Harry's room, gently knocking on the door. At first he didn't get a response, but after a minute he heard a tired groan from the otherside of the door. "Harry?" Draco peaked his head in through the door.
Harry sat up on his elbow to look at Draco. His hair was wild and his glasses were skewed. "Hm?"
"Did I wake you?" Draco stepped in and closed the door with a click.
"No." Harry was being sarcastic. "Not at all. I was just sitting here in bed with my eyes closed." Harry rolled his eyes and laid back down in bed.
"Sorry, just wanted to see what you were up to." Draco was about to leave, turning the door knob.
"Wait. Come here." Harry motioned with a finger to come over to the bed.
"Alright." Draco didn't suspect anything was going to happen. He got with in an arms length of Harry and Harry pulled him into his bed. "Hey! Let me go!" Draco tried to push Harry off, but quickly stopped when he felt Harry shudder against him. "Harry?" The only response was a broken sob. "Oh Harry..." Draco brought his ants around Harry and half Harry close to him. Sure he is a pretentious and horrible person during school, but in private he is more caring and nice. "What's happened Harry?"
"I killed them..." Harry sobbed out. His body shook with each sob.
"Who did you kill Harry?" Draco was confused. Harry couldn't have killed anyone.
"Me mum and dad...” Harry couldn't stop crying. He kept on sobbing.
"Harry, that wasn't your fault. That was the work of a cruel and unjust man." Draco said softly, letting Harry cry. How much could this boy cry? Draco felt like an older sibling comforting a younger sibling after something bad.
"It was... They died because I was born..." Harry gripped Draco's shirt more tightly. "I should have never been born..." Harry pulled Draco closer to himself, believing if he let go that Draco would leave.
Draco's heart dropped. Harry and Draco we almost thirteen. Harry was still a child and he thought he didn't deserve the right to live. That his own parents shouldn't have had him because it resulted in their deaths. Slightly pulling himself from Harry's grip and grabbing Harrys chin to make Harry look him in the eyes, Draco spoke gently and sternly. "Never say you shouldn't have been born. You didn't kill you parents because of your birth. Blame that man who actually killed them not yourself."
Looking his Draco's eyes just broke Harry. He blamed The Dark Lord, yes, but he also had to blame himself. He's blamed himself since first year and even during the summer his aunt told him that he was the reason. His parents died. Harry has tears streaming down his face and sounds of absolute despair coming from his mouth.
"None of this was your fault Harry." Draco pulled him and Harry together. "You haven't done anything wrong. You have just lived as a person and life gave you the wrong cards." Draco kept on telling Harry different things that would help get his brain right keeping him from the harsh thoughts from his mind.
----------
Harry had fallen back asleep and Draco slowly escaped the boys tight hold. Exiting the room he found himself wandering to find Snape. He couldn't find him in any of the permitted areas. He checked the lab room first, his bedroom, and finally his study. With each room Draco knocked. This first two yielded no response. The final one did.
"Come in." Snape called out. He had a letter in his hands, just now opened with his letter opener. Setting the letter opener down as Draco entered.
"Professor. You do know Harry's not well?" Draco looked very concerned as he entered.
"Is he feeling ill?" Snape set the opened envelope down.
"No, he feels fine physically."
Snape slowly understood what Draco was talking about. "Oh. I do know that."
"Who's the letter from?" Draco quickly changed the topic.
"Head of the Ministry of Magic." Snape grabbed the envelope again and took out the letter. Slowly opening it and reading it.
'Dear Professor Severus Snape,
The Ministry received your letter and had been doing a formal investigation under lock and key. Upon hearing what you have told us of young Harry's home issues the Ministry has decided to change where Harry is cared for temporarily. Until we have conducted out full investigation Harry James Potter will reside at Hogwarts. He will not leave unless accompanied.
-The Minister of Magic'
"What's it about?" Draco asked.
"Nothing. Just Harry will be staying here for the duration of the summer." Draco already knew that. Maybe the Minister was just ensuring that Harry would be serving out his punishment for underaged magic and endangering the wizarding world with Snape.
"Harry has nightmares about his parents." Draco fessed up. Originally he was just going to tell Snape that Harry wasn't well, but if the letter was about Harry Draco just had to tell Snape. "He was crying about it earlier before he fell asleep."
Snape sat in thought for a few seconds. "It was expected. The memory is probably ingrained in his mind."
"But during the school year he never has said anything about nightmares."
Snape was not about to tell Draco that he infiltrated Harry's mind against his will and saw things he wished he hadn't. "He might have not wanted to talk about them or he just didn't care about them enough to mention them.
