Dawn smiled sleepily as she listened to Theo give his speech, while she didn’t fully agree with making a pup president as that was a lot of responsibility to shove onto him she also knew that if anyone could handle it it would be Theo. However, there was one thing he needed to address before it could prove a problem.
“I know you are all about anarchy but Theo is just a pup, he knows nothing of tyranny and cruelty so please just give him a chance?” She requested softly as she glanced up at Techno who had a grim expression on his face. She had been leaning on the piglin hybrid due to her exhaustion so she had been able to feel just how tense he had become during the proceedings and she was afraid that he might do something drastic.
“Please?” She asked again and Techno stared at her for a moment before his expression softened slightly as he nodded.
“Thank you” She said happily as she subtly nuzzled the Alpha who rumbled at the action before she turned to look over at where Theo and a few others were taking down the decorations from the festival. Which is when everything went horribly wrong.
BOOM!!!
The ground erupted with explosions and Dawn’s ears rang as she stared in horror at the destroyed remains of L’manberg, her eyes shot up to meet Ezran’s equally horrified eyes. The TNT had been removed! So what happened?! Her eyes shot around before they landed on Sally who had a slightly crazed look on her face as she ranted to... Cyrus? When did he get here? Whatever that didn’t matter right now.
“What are you doing?!” Techno questioned gruffly as he attempted to grab Dawn’s arm but she just ignored him as she slipped away and rushed over to where Sally was, the screams and cries of the others making her heart beat a mile a minute.
“Cyrus kill me!” Sally shouted at her horrified father who was clutching a diamond sword in his hands and Dawn’s fear spiked as she pulled herself up onto the platform, her vision swimming slightly as she was still dealing with magical exhaustion.
“Sally you asshole!” She snapped as she yanked the sword out of Cyrus’ hands who just blinked at her in shock while the grin on Sally’s face froze in place.
“What the fuck did you do?!” She cursed out as she slipped the sword into her inventory and marched up to Sally so that she could grip the front of her shirt angrily.
“I told you, Dawn! This is my symphony forever unfinished!” Sally cackled madly and Dawn gritted her teeth angrily as she shoved the Alpha into the wall harshly.
“This isn’t a fucking game Sally! You can’t just stand on your perch and destroy everything that the people you care about have fought for! Or does the blood, sweat and tears your brother, son and friends shed not matter to you?!” She shouted furiously which made the crazed expression on Sally’s face disappear.
“And then what? You were just going to take the coward's way out and die rather than face the consequences of your actions?! After I specifically stated that I wanted no permanent deaths on my server?! And to top it off you tried to force your father to do it! How fucking dare you Salacia Everdeen!” She seethed and Sally just stared at her with wide eyes and a dropped jaw.
She went to scream some more but her face paled and her hands went slack as she heard the shriek of two withers being spawned. She barely acknowledged Sally slumping to the ground as she turned to face the withers only to meet Techno’s self-satisfied gaze which morphed into a mildly guilty one as he looked at her before turning on his heel and fleeing the scene leaving his withers to wreak havoc on the remains of L’manberg.
She slowly walked up to the edge of the platform and her sword materialized in her hand as she went to leap down only to be stopped by a hand being placed on her shoulder, she turned around and saw Cyrus staring at her in concern.
“Dawn, a novice could tell that you are suffering from magical exhaustion, you can’t go down there” He said worriedly and Dawn grimaced a little in agreement as she tightened her grip on his sword.
“I don’t have a choice, I have to protect my pack” She said seriously and it looked like Cyrus wanted to argue about this but she was quick to cut him off.
“Please keep an eye on Sally, don't let her do anything reckless while I take care of this” She requested softly and while it looked like Cyrus wanted to argue he simply nodded.
“Of course” He said in understanding and Dawn gave him a small smile, not that the avian could see it due to her mask before she turned to face the ledge once again as her wings sprouted from her back, she ignored the shocked gasps coming from Cyrus and Sally as she launched herself into battle.
She slashed her sword against one of the withers before she landed and went back to back with Ezekiel, her instincts screamed at her to get the pup away from the battle but right now she did not have the luxury of being able to listen to her instincts as they had a battle to win.
Dawn sucked in a couple of deep breaths as she leaned heavily on her sword, her vision was swimming dangerously and she wasn’t sure how much longer she could stay on her feet. The withers had finally been defeated but there was still one more thing she needed to take care of.
“Dawn!” Soren called out but she just ignored him as with a strong push of her wings she landed back on the platform where she left Cyrus and Sally only to be met with a sight that made her heart freeze up.
Cyrus was collapsed on the ground as he struggled to even prop himself up and Sally was nowhere to be seen.
“Cyrus, what happened?” She asked worriedly as she crouched down next to the Alpha, nearly blacking out in the process.
“As soon as the withers went down Sally hit me with a weakness potion and took off” Cyrus grunted as he continued to struggle to prop himself up and Dawn grimaced as she glanced in the direction Sally took off in before glancing back at Cyrus.
“Here let me help you up” She said softly as she reached over to help the older blonde only to feel someone grip her shoulder and push her back slightly.
“Yeah, I don’t think so” Soren grunted unimpressed as he propped Cyrus up instead while Dawn blinked up at him in confusion which earned her an eye roll from the blaze hybrid.
“You can barely keep yourself upright let alone another person” He grunted and Dawn ducked her head a little sheepishly.
“Silly goose” Jasper said fondly as he helped Dawn stand up and the Omega simply hummed as she leaned into the Beta’s side.
“You can rest soon Dawn” Jasper said softly as he began to lead Dawn away and she just hummed softly as her eyes became heavy now that the exhaustion was properly setting in, she could use a nice long nap.
