Chapter 1

A small, 4-year-old, bushy-haired brunette girl known as Hermione Jean Granger was running. Hermione did not run often. Hermione was definitely an indoor person. She loved to spend her time reading and gathering as much knowledge as possible. Despite only having turned four a few months ago, Hermione was very advanced for her age. Her peers, however, hated Hermione. They thought she was a 'Know-It-All' and 'ugly' with her bushy hair and large teeth. Hermione was hurt by their hatred but she also didn't care that she didn't have any friends. She knew she was smarter than those around her and she wanted to be friends with people who liked her intelligence. However, Hermione realised people didn't like her saying this out loud. This is why Hermione is running. Hermione ran out of the park and bumped into a woman. Hermione thought the woman was the most beautiful woman she'd ever seen. "Sorry," Hermione said to her. The woman had a look on her face as if she was contemplating something.

"No worries, young one," the woman said. "But you should be more careful. You could get hurt, Princess."

"Princess?" Hermione wasn't sure why the woman had called her 'Princess' when only her Dad did that. Hermione was sad when she thought of her Dad. He and her Mom didn't spend very much time with her. Once they had realised she was more capable than most her age, they spent less time with her. They trusted her to be on her own and she liked that but she was sad they didn't spend as much time with her now as they did the year before when they adopted her. "I'm Hermione Jean Granger." Hermione held her hand out to the woman.

"Yes, Princess. Your mother was..." The woman trailed off with a sad look on her face before smiling at Hermione and shaking her hand. "It's nice to meet you, Hermione. I'm Estella Chloe Grey."

"You know my Mom?"

"I did know her, yes. All of our kind knew of her but few actually knew her. I believe my family and the Delacour family were the only ones who actually got to meet Queen Ruby."

"Queen? Ruby? Wait... You knew my birth mother?"

"Yes, Princess Cassiopeia. Your mother was half-Veela, half-Siren and Queen of the two species. I know who you are because all Veela and all Sirens can sense each other. I, myself, am half-Veela too. I was the first person, after your family, who got to hold you when you were born. I helped your mother deliver you. As I'm a Mediwitch and I was your mother's best friend, she insisted. It was an honour, your highness."

"Wait, Cassiopeia? That's not my name."

"It was your name when you were born. You father's family have a tradition of naming their children after the stars. His name was Regulus Arcturus Black. Your father was killed during the Wizarding War in Britain while your mother was visiting the Delacour Clan in France. No one in Britain knew of your existence or your parents' relationship. With the war going on, they wished to keep you safe."

"How do I know you're telling the truth?"

"All Veela have a Thrall. Just as Sirens use their voices, Veela use their Thrall. The Thrall is a part of us. Once a Veela hits their 15th birthday, the Thrall changes to attract those around her. However, Veela under the age of 15 still have a Thrall. If you concentrate, you'll feel it calling to me as the only Veela nearby." Hermione concentrated and felt what Estella had said.

"Wow! ... Can you tell me more about Veela and Sirens?"

"Of course, Princess... How about we go back into the park and talk?"

"Yes, please!" They went into the park and sat down on a bench.

"So, first of all, all Veela are female. If a Veela has a child who is a boy, the boy is more attractive than a usual boy but is otherwise a normal Wizard."

"Wizard?"

"Yes. Their are Wizards and Witches. Your father had no creature blood but came from a long line of Pureblood Witches and Wizards."

"Pureblood?" Estella explained blood purity and the Wizarding War to Hermione who was shocked at how some of the adults of the time had acted.

"So, your parents were Mates. If a Veela has a child with their Mate, the child is a pure Veela. If a Veela has a child with someone who isn't their Mate and isn't Veela, then the child isn't pure Veela. Veela can only be pure, half, quarter or eighth. If an eighth Veela has a child with someone who isn't their Mate, the child loses all Veela traits and is just a normal Witch. If a Veela has a female Mate, there is a ritual that can be performed so that the Veela can reproduce with their Mate."

"Does the ritual give one of the females male parts?"

"No. The two will still have the same parts. We're not sure how the ritual works but the more submissive Witch will end up pregnant. It only works for Mated Veela, though. All the children produced from the ritual are female. Some Veela have more than one Mate. If a Veela has more than one Mate and none of them are Veela, they might end up together as well as with the Veela or not. If a Veela has more than one Mate and one or more of those Mates are Veela, the other Veela(s) may be Mated to one another or not. Sometimes they aren't Mated and still end up together, sometimes they aren't Mated and are occasionally together to make their Mate happy and sometimes they aren't Mated but end up being civil with one another. Never will a Veela hate, attack or get possessive over their Mate with one of their Mates' Mates. However, with those their Mate isn't Mated to, Veela will get extremely territorial, possessive and agressive... Oh! There's also a prophecy about you: 'The Princess of two species will rise up as Queen. With her Knight, the Chosen one and their beloveds, she will rule and better the world for those she deems worthy. Enemies of the Heir... Beware.'"

...

A small, 5-year-old, red-headed boy named Ronald Bilius Weasley, who prefered to be called Ron, was upset and scared. His older brothers, twins known as Fred Gideon Weasley and George Fabien Weasley, had tried to get him to perform an Unbreakable Vow. Luckily for Ron, his father, Arthur Septimus Weasley, stopped it before the Vow could be performed. Ron was upset because his brothers frequently prank him. This, and the time Fred had turned his teddy bear into a spider two years beforehand because Ron had accidentally broken Fred's toy, was the worst. Ron was scared as Fred had been hit on his bottom by their father and Ron knew the twins would want to make him pay for Fred's sore bottom. Ron quickly hid from the twins in the forest near their house.

After a few hours had past, Ron knew he was lost in the forest. It was getting darker and darker and Ron felt even more scared. Ron felt scared a lot of the time because of the twins. He was scared of a lot of things. Ron saw a shape in front of him and it looked like one of the twins. Ron wasn't sure which. Ron was scared but he yelled at the figure in front of him. "I know you're not my brother! Fred and George wouldn't go into the forest unless they were together!" The figure shifted and turned into his father. Ron was scared of his father right now because he had hurt Fred. His father had never hurt any of his siblings or Ron himself before. However, Ron knew the figure wasn't his father and he knew the only reason he'd hurt Fred was because of the Vow he tried to get Ron to perform. The figure shifted into his mother, Molly Elizabeth Weasley.

"Why can't you be more like your brothers?" The figure asked in his mother's voice. Ron was scared of disappointing his mother. He knew his mother was proud of his siblings, William Arthur Weasley, who prefered to be called Bill, Charles Septimus Weasley, who prefered to be called Charlie, Percy Ignatius Weasley, Fred, George and Ginevra Molly Weasley, who prefered to be called Ginny. Charlie had just started his second year at Hogwarts and had recently been made the Seeker on the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Bill was in his fourth year and was almost always top of his class. Molly praised Percy because of his intelligence and love of reading. She always went on about how she thought he'd be able to break Bellatrix Lestrange's O.W.L. and N.E.W.T. records. Molly, while infuriated by Fred and George's pranks, had a secret love of them. The twins reminded her of her brothers, whom Fred and George where named after, and she praised their creativity.

And Ginny... Ginny was clearly the favourite of both of her parents. Their only daughter and their youngest. She got the most attention and praise out of all the Weasley children. Ron, however, was the most forgotten. Molly and Arthur had never once told him they were proud of him. He never got anything new and they forgot him frequently when out shopping. Ron knew he could never disappoint his mother because she barely knew he existed. The figure shifted again. This time it took the form of You-Know-Who. Ron was scared of You-Know-Who. Almost everyone, including his followers, were. However, Ron knew that You-Know-Who was gone and he wasn't coming back. Harry Potter had defeated him. The figure shifted once more. The figure was a giant spider. Ron was terrified but he knew that it wasn't actually a spider.

"You're not real!" Ron shouted at the spider. "I saw you shift! You're not a real spider!" The figure shifted a final time. Ron let out a slight breath of relief. He knew the spider wasn't real and, therefore, was less afraid of it but it had still scared him. The figure took the form of someone Ron didn't recognise and it sighed.

"Why is it so hard to scare you, little boy?" The figure asked Ron. "Most little boys are scared easily."

"I'm always scared. I've gotten used to it. My brothers like to make me scared. They like to prank me," Ron said to the figure. "My name is Ron. What's yours?"

"I don't have a name but humans like you usually call me 'a Boggart' or 'one of the Feared Ones'... You know, Ron, I like you. I've never met a human like you."

"Well, maybe you can be my friend then. I don't have any friends."

"Yes. I don't have any friends either. My kind typically don't have friends... I believe they'd all like someone like you around, Ron. Maybe you're the one the prophecy spoke of."

"The what?"

"Prophecy. A prophecy is a telling of the future. A prophecy was created a long time ago that spoke of a human who was both full of fear and at the same time not."

"What does it say?"

"Let me see... Right. 'The Lost Child will be found. Taken in by the Feared Ones, the child full of fear will not fear his fears. He will rise above his fear and rule the Feared Ones. The Feared Ones will love and protect the Lost Child. The Lost Child will be revered and feared, adored and hated. The Lost Child will become the Knight of the Queen. He and his two beloveds will be three of the Queen's most trusted. The Queen, her Knight and the Chosen One will rule with their beloveds and the Feared Ones will be better for it.'"

"Oh, so... You think I'm this lost child?"

"Yes."

"Cool!"
