Welcome to Hogwarts
The train pulled into Hogsmede station and the four departed to head toward the carriages and could not shake the cold and depressive mood that had fallen upon the group after the dementor encounter. Soon enough Hogwarts came into view and it took Haidra away, she stared up at the beautiful castle in awe and could feel the protection and warmth fill her as she approached the towering building.
"It's beautiful isn't it?" Haidra jumped at Harry's question as she was not paying attention "Yeah I have only heard stories, I'm so happy to finally be here" Haidra replied with a smile back at him. Before they could enter a voice shouted out to Harry who was standing next to Haidra.
"Potter! Is it true you fainted? I mean actually fainted!" Haidra saw a boy with white blonde hair and instantly knew this must be her cousin, the Malfoy heir, and before Ron or Harry could reply she took a step forward.
"Heir Malfoy, dementors are no laughing matter, I would think the son of Narcissa Black would understand what dark creatures can do to a person, I would think your mother's teachings included manners cousin" Haidra stated sweetly with a short curtsy.
"Cousin? I don't believe we have met?" Draco Malfoy sneered at Haidra as he stared her down while glaring at the trio behind her. "Forgive me for not introducing myself cousin, Lady Haidra Lefay Black" Malfoy instantly froze as Haidra stuck out her hand to shake and her Ladyship and Heir rings flashed into view and seemed to be unsure how to proceed as Haidra raised her eyebrow at the silence
"F-forgive me cousin, I-i will leave you to your...friends" Draco bowed and bolted back towards his friends who were clearly eavesdropping and were now backing off from Haidra too. With a smirk, Haidra turned back to the trio and saw shock and awe on their faces and she couldn't help but giggle at them.
"That was bloody brilliant!" Ron broke the silence and Haidra couldn't help but let out an unladylike snort at his comment. "Ronald! Language! Glad you enjoyed the show" With a Wink Haidra turned, tossing her hair over her shoulder, and led the three into Hogwarts with them cackling behind her.
A lady approached the group before they could enter the great hall and introduced herself as Professor Mcgonagall and requested Haidra wait with her and she would be sorted after the first years, waving to the trio she waited and cast her eyes across the room looking at her future classmates.
Soon enough the first years were sorted and Headmaster Dumbledore stood and introduced her "This year is quite special as we have a new student joining us but for her third year, let's all welcome Haidra Lefay Black to Hogwarts" Murmers immediately swept across the room at her name and immediately she could see a mix of hate and suspicious glances headed her way. Walking towards the Sorting Hat she sat as it was placed on her head.
"Please lower your shields, young miss, I can not sort you if you keep that head of yours locked up like that" The sorting head spoke directly into her head as she completely forgot this detail, she relaxed her occlumency and waited "Thank you, a good mind, pure heart, cunning and loyal. Very difficult indeed, I could place you in any of the houses easily, but I can see you have already found companionship among a few lions, so be it...GRYFFINDOR" the Hat announced the last word and Haidra smiled as she stepped towards the table and sat with Hermione with Harry and Ron opposite her she heard a smattering of clapping but was much quieter than what she heard during the first year sortings.
The feast began and everyone was focused on filling their bellies, or in Ron's case eating like a starved child. Haidra started up a conversation with Hermione about classes and the condition of the Hogwarts Library which she was very excited to see. Dinner and Dessert quickly passed and Dumbledore stood and announced that Rubius Hagrid was promoted to Care of Magical Creatures professor and Remus Lupin was Defence of the Dark Arts professor this year and wished them luck before a warning about dementors this year being stationed at Hogwarts grounds.
The Welcoming feast came to a close and Haidra was asked to stay behind "Welcome to Hogwarts my dear, we know your mother has sent your previous work in advance so we understand what level you are working at and we hope you enjoy your time here but I wanted to introduce you to your professors to familiarise yourself more" Professor Dumbledore greeted Haidra nicely and reminded her of one of her great grandparents that passed when she was younger and couldn't help but grace him with a smile "Thank you, Headmaster, I am happy to be here and I appreciate the warm welcome".
McGonagall stepped forward "We have already been introduced but I will be your Head of House so please do not hesitate to see me for any issues, I teach transfiguration and I saw your mother says you are quite advanced in this, not that I don't trust her word but could you demonstrate something for me please?" Haidra took a small step back and before anyone could blink, in her place was a midnight black 4ft snake with silver eyes and a red sheen when the light hit her coils. Once Haidra had turned back she smiled at the stunned professors "Very impressive for someone your age Miss Lefay-Black, I look forward to seeing you in class"
A portly lady with soil under her fingernails and twigs in her hair stepped forward "I'm Professor Sprout and I am the Hufflepuff Head of House but please do not hesitate to see me anytime. I teach Herbology and from your mother's report, I can proudly say I am very excited to see you in my class" "Thank you professor" Haidra couldn't help but let out a blinding smile at her.
"I am your Charms professor as well as the Ravenclaw Head of House Professor Flitwick" A small man stepped forward and bowed to her and Haidra could see he was potentially half or mostly of goblin origins and instantly Haidra snapped her heels together and bowed lowly to her teacher and greeted him in Gobblegook "Greetings Master Flitwick, I have heard of your prowess in your teachings and it is a privilege to be tutored by you" The half-goblin was pleasantly surprised to hear his native language and smiled up at his student and replied in English "The pleasure is mine Lady Lefay-Black, would you do me the honour of performing a spell for me" Haidra nodded and pulled her wand and cast Lumos silently "Excellent form and very impressive for the silent spellcasting" Flitwick bowed and stepped back.
Professor Lupin then introduced himself which Haidra found redundant but politely nodded anyway before looking towards the next professors until finally a darkly dressed professor with the most hateful face stepped forward and glared down at her instantly causing Haidra to lock her occlumency shield up tightly. "Professor Snape, I teach Potions and from what I have read it states you are a 'progeny'...Ashwinder eggs, squill bulb, and occamy shell are found in what?"Felix Felicis sir, also known as liquid luck" "Hmm...maybe you are not a dunderhead" Snape seemed to struggle through the words so Haidra took her shot "Thank you, sir, can I say it is an honour to meet you, My mother and I have admired your work for years especially your work with the properties of wolfsbane" Snape just looked uncomfortable and nodded before stepping away.
Bowing once more to the staff she was led by McGonagall towards the Gryffindor common room when almost as soon as she walked in the room went silent until Hermione called her over to the couch where Ron and Harry were sitting "Haidra that took a while, everything okay?" but before Haidra could explain her meeting a voice called out from across the room "They were probably looking for a Dark mark, shes a Black, why is she even here?!" Haidra held up her hand to silence Ron who started shouting and made eye contact with a blonde boy from across the room and just stared him down, after what felt like an eternity she raised her brow at the squirming boy who didn't dare to keep talking and scurried off up the stairs.
Haidra and Hermione headed up the tower and Haidra walked into the girl's dorms to see her trunk infront of a bed and found her other roommates getting ready for bed but they just ignored her so Haidra just unlocked her trunk and pulled out her hairbrush and PJ's and got ready for bed.
