A lost Dragon
A lost Dragon
Little dragon...now that was creepy. Alden tore his gaze away as Harold left to fetch the tea, Harriette didn’t. She was aware of every move from this room, she may be paranoid, but if it she wanted to still roam free and careless, it was necesssary. She couldn’t afford to get caught by Voldemort and his Death Eaters, not by fear of death, not really. Rather fear of captivity. There may be nothing as terrifiying in this world than being unable to decide for your own body and life.
“There are things you may wanna know about yourself, miss”, his voice even as he tried again. His back now turned.
“ I want you to know. As for not coming myself to inform you, I’m afraid the risk may be far too great. You of most people understand how dangerous the return of The Dark Lord is for all of us”. oh well... “ Do you actually believe it? Most people don’t”. She had to, the truth was the wizarding World refused to believe it, The Daily Prophet made sure she was now a liar. How could anyone lie about this?
“ Out of fear, dear girl. Sooner or later it was inevitable for him to return and he will stop at nothing to bend the world as we know to his will. They all know it, Fudge better than anyone, he knows no one can save him or his false world of politics" Adler frowned, for himself.
"This is where you come in”. His tone now changed, his face to her. “ I...’’ If she knew this was the whole point of this. Alden watched her carefully and waited the rest of the sentence. “How can you put this on me? How can anyone? I am 14 for Merlin’s sake” . Anger bursted out of her, in a flash she placed the heavy book on the table and turned to leave, she could feel the wards around the house, apparating was not an option here.
Seeing her desire he planted himself in front of her, blocking the only exist she knew.
‘’ You’ll have to hear what I have to say, I will not force anything on you. But you must at least hear me.’’ Maybe he expected this, or maybe not. She looked in his ice blue eyes and relaxed body, how he blocked the way but still with room to argue. Harriette made her way to the couch at sat herself, like a true diplomat. ‘’Go on then, I’ll listen’’. His eyes agian looked into her soul, he walked to his deep green armchair and sat, just as Herold returned with two cups of tea and placed them effortless in front of them.
‘’ So, to answer your unsaid question I am indeed a wizard’’. He seeked for any reaction and received none. She knew that, it was obvious, but his customs were not. She watched him hoping to get to the point. Herold satted himeslf too, near the window and gently watched them. ‘’I laid low for a while,in this time it’s important to not be seen’’ that felt felt like a blow to herself. She ignored it. ‘’ I am afraid what I have to say will change You and the course of this era. It’s still just as important as you will make it to be.’’ His eyes never leaving her form, pose still relaxed.
“I sent the book for you to read for a reason of course. Tell me if you please, what did you learn from it?” Was this a joke? She didn’t mouth the question but her face might have, “ It isn’t some joke at all, miss” Harold said, surprising her. What were they to each other?
‘’ Well... a family in a medieval time...” both men were dead serious as she checked their faces. “Whom controlled dragons and fled from their ruined home as the weakest family and counquered 7 kingdoms with their dragons, the last dragons from the mighty Old Valyria. They...umm...were seen as more than royals, but gods, by becoming the most powerfull house in the kingdoms, so they tried to keep their blood pure, like pureblooded wizard families do now, only with basically incest” Details she spared, she didn’t read the whole thing anyway.
Harold looked pleased at her choice of words, while Alden seemed as he wanted to hear more. “...and all of them had the uncommon looks of silver hair and purple eyes”. Well that was it.
Her mind suddenly become a whirl of toughts and arguments, she had a feeling where this was going. Hermione would have seen it miles ago. Harriette felt so dumb for a moment. Seeing her darkening gaze,Alden kindly asked, ‘’ Can you tell your opinion on this book you half read?’’ He can’t know that, surely. ‘’Well, the writing seems a bit old but I think I’ve seen this before in the muggles TV” none of them looked surprised or offended at the mention of the muggles,
“I myself enjoyed it, My experience with dragons it’s limited and quite painful, but rising as gods from a meer dream it’s extraordinary.” It was the truth, she respected it. Even if later if fell apart...her mouth knew better and continued like in a trance, “a house no one dared to fight at its peak, a house whose dragons were the gods, it seems so glorious. The kind that demands respect for simply breathing. Even if their only magic was the dragons”. Harriette remembered the first time she heard Hagrid she was a witch, a powerful witch whose parents died for her. Most of the time she wished it wasn’t true. Mattering less means a peaceful life.
Her green eyes focused again on the matter at hand,
‘’That much it is true, their power became infinite as they became the only house to have such a force at their will, if you will read the whole book you would have known how this power came to an end, once a brother usurped his own sister and dragon fought dragon. The only thing that could tear down the House Of The Dragon was itself. ‘’ Alden spoke fast and left no say in it.
‘’You speak as of the past. Not like a fantasy book”. A sad smile was half the answer she needed. Harriette looked at Harold who looked back in response. Still it wasn’t enough for her. She needed to hear it.
‘’That is because it is the past, dear” Silence setteled for what seemed like hours, can she be more than Harriette Potter, ‘the girl who lived’?. Alden seemed obvious and continued,
‘’Or should I say your past , you are the only living descendent and true heir of House Targaryen, on a direct line from your mother Lily Evans ”. He was dead serious. “You are the last Targaryen”.
