They'll All Die In The End

Lily died in the fall of 1981, just minutes after her husband. Lily fought, right to the end, she ran up the stairs with her son, her husband could tell her to run, but even as she ran, she knew there was nowhere to go.
She heard James fall, she knew that he was gone, it was just her and her son now.
She heard him walk up the stairs, and she knew there was nowhere else to go, and she was all on her own.
When he walked into the nursery, she put Harry in the crib behind her, she stood in front of it, trying to shield him, knowing that she couldn't.
He said she didn't need to die, that he would let her go, that he only wanted her son, her beautiful, beautiful son, who would now grow up an orphan, if he even survived.
Lily knew that if she died, he would to, no one ever lived once he decided to kill them, she was his last protector, but there was nothing she could do.
She didn't have her wand, her husband was dead in the doorway, she had no more time to think, there was a flash of green light and Lily Jolene Evans Potter was gone.
Lily died believing that she had failed, that her son would die seconds after she did, she would never know what she had achieved, she would never know that she saved the world that night, she would never know who her son would grow to be.
But it didn't matter, they'll all die in the end.
