6 – Christmas
After the last and admittedly easy going days of school, Christmas holidays are starting and Louis is going home to celebrate his birthday with his family.
Arriving at King’s Cross, he leaves the platform 9¾ together with his new won friends.
Louis says goodbye to them and makes his way over to his mum who brought the twins with her to pick him up. She is currently talking to the brown haired woman next to her but when she sees Louis walking towards her, she opens her arms to give him a hug.
“Hey boobear, I missed you so much. Welcome back home!”
“Hey mum, I missed you too.”
“We missed you too Lou!”, the twins added from where they were wrapped around his legs. Louis crouches down to hug both of them and exchange his greetings with them.
“Look Lou, we drew you a picture of Esmeralda.”
“It’s the new cat of our friend Elly.”
“Wow girls, that’s so beautiful!”, Louis says, happy that the girls had thought of him even if he isn’t home often.
After receiving the present, Jay interrupts the giggling between the siblings with “Lou, I was just talking to Anne here, she was waiting for her son too.”
Now Louis sees that the woman doesn’t only have a son from Hogwarts but this son is Harry. He must’ve heard the whole conversation between him and his family.
“Hi Anne, I’m Louis!”
“Hello dear, are you the Louis, Harry has written me about?”
At that both of the boys blush and Louis nods. “That would probably be me.”
“Nice to meet you in person then.”, Anne continues.
“Mum, didn’t you say we have to leave to catch the train?”, Harry asks. “Bye Lou, goodbye Jay, it was nice to meet you too.”
The two families wave at each other and leave the train station.
“So that was the Harry you wrote me about?”, Jay asks seemingly unaware about Louis’ inner panic about the family meeting.
“Yes, that was him.”
“He seems nice, a pretty boy.”
“He is.”, Louis replies, “Nice I mean.”
The drive passes quite quickly because the twins have to tell him a lot. At home he is greeted by Lottie and Fizzy as well as a huge self made meal.

Louis is happy to be home and able to spend some time with his family again. He is also happy that he has a quiet day between the travel and his birthday because Hogwarts, as well as his home, are always full of people and noises.
He spends this day with using all the things that don’t work in the castle, like the TV and his smartphone. Also, he spends it missing his friends. To be honest, most of it he lies in his bed to daydream about Harry in his Yule Ball outfit and how he could have asked him for a dance.
When it gets to the point where he imagines them being married and having a house full of children and magical creatures, he decides it’s time for some company again so he leaves his room to talk a bit with his mum.
He needs some advice on all of this chaos in his head but for that he has to tell her about his feelings towards boys. That wouldn’t be a first after Zayn and the kind of coming out to Luna but this is his mum so you could say, he’s a bit nervous.
“Hey Lou, everything fine?”
“Yes, do you think we could talk about something though?”
“Sure boo, did something happen?”
“Well, kind of but I don’t know where to start.”
They snuggle down at the couch and Louis, now getting more and more nervous, pulls his legs up and hugs them.
“How about you start where it began?”
“Okay so, do you remember Hannah?”
Louis tells the story about how he met Niall and how his group of friends was formed. When he talks about the Quidditch match, he hesitates a bit.
His mum interrupts him. “This is about Harry then?”
Just how? Am I that obvious?
“Yes? How did you figure it out?”
“Come on Lou, I’m your mum. And your letters weren’t really hiding your thoughts on how he shouldn’t be together with Ginny.”
“So you knew, I like a boy and didn’t say a thing?”
“Yeah, what should I have to say?”
“No idea. To be concrete, I’m bi though.”
“Okay, I’m proud of you.”
So that was that. Louis feels like he should’ve known it wouldn't be a big deal but now he’s happy, his mother knows.
“What about him now? I don’t think he has a girlfriend to be honest. I didn’t see him say goodbye to anyone but you. No girl in sight.”
“That’s true. I don’t know what to do about it though. I can’t just tell him, that would make everything weird. I just found this group of people and I feel like something like that could destroy everything.”
“But what if he likes you too? How do you know it would all go down if you don’t even try? Also, I don’t think it would affect your friendship to anyone, really.”
“He isn’t even gay. I bet he would feel weird as soon as I tell him whenever I’m near him. And if he was gay, why would he like me?”
“How do you know about his sexuality if you don’t talk to him about it? And Lou, who wouldn’t like you? You’re great. You are smart and kind and a perfect big brother to your sisters. Also, you do look good. Everyone should be lucky to have you in their life.”
“Well, you’re my mum, you have to say that.”, Louis answers. He does feel a bit better though.
“Thank you.”
“You’re welcome boo. Don't give up on him, he could be worth it.”

He feels better when he receives a birthday letter from an owl the next morning though. And even better when he reads that the card comes from Harry.
Why does he have to be so cute? It’s unfair, really. How is anyone supposed to not like him?
The card comes with a picture of the curly boy grinning and a creature which must be Karl the niffler. Harry waves at him and cuddles Karl. It’s so cute that Louis decides to frame it and put it on his desk.
“So that’s Harry.”, Lottie says from behind him and Louis is so startled that he jumps up.
“Happy birthday Lou.”, she says grinning.
“Thanks and yes, that’s him and his niffler Karl.”
“Cute, disgustingly so. Have fun ogling at that for the next few days.” Lottie leaves him with that and calls that breakfast is ready.
Always the nicest one, Lottie. Knows exactly what to say to embarrass me. She’s ten. How is she that smart?
After his birthday, Christmas follows. The days are filled with family meetings, full stomachs and a lot of laughter.
It passes so quickly that New Years comes and it’s the last opportunity for Louis to celebrate with his family before having to go back to Hogwarts.
He’s sad to leave his sisters but he’s also happy to see Harry again because he misses him even though he doesn’t know how to talk to him.
Louis decides to enjoy his last days at home and spends his time playing games with his sisters as well as talking a lot to his mum and grandparents.
When he has to say goodbye to them to leave for school again, he is glad that he had such a great holiday.
