you're too sweet for me (kiss part 2)
“Lils, wake up sleepy head.” Mary said gently as she attempted to wake Lily up. “Uhhhhh, why do you have to wake me up so early?” Lily asked as she shut her eyes even tighter. Mary leaned against Lily’s bed post with a small smirk on her face. “Because you asked me to wake you up this early so that we could study for our defense against the dark arts test tomorrow.” Mary explained with a sly grin on her face. She knew that Lily liked the idea of waking up early so she could spend the whole day studying and reading in the library but she always hated it when the time came to actually get up. “Ugggghh, why must I be so studious? I hate myself for ever wanting to choose studying over sleep.” Lily groaned as she slowly sat up. Mary let out a small chuckle. “Well, I got you an iced chai tea latte just the way you like it, and I set out our textbooks on the table.” Mary said, walking over to the table and taking a seat. Lily took a sip of her tea as she slowly began to wake up.
“What would I do without you, Mary?” Lily asked, taking another sip of her tea. “You’d be severely under caffeinated.” Mary responded sarcastically. “How can you even drink that? It’s not even real tea at that point.” Mary said critically, pointing her pen at Lily’s cup of tea. “It’s delicious, it’s not bitter like your tea and it’s not too hot to drink like yours. This is the perfect beverage.” Lily said, raising her cup to Mary as she slowly stood out of bed and made her way to the table where Mary was sitting. “Shut up!” Marlene yelled before cuddling back into bed. Lily and Mary knew that if they ever woke Marlene up she would kill them and then promptly go back to bed so they tried to keep their voices down as best they could.
-about one hour later-
Mary placed her head down on the table in defeat. “I literally can’t understand anything written in this stupid book! It’s all gibberish!” Mary yelled though the sound was muffled by the book she had stuffed her face into. “Ok, maybe it’s time to take a break.” Lily said, standing up and pushing their books off to the side, Mary’s head hit the table as Lily pushed the book aside. “I’ll get us a snack.” Lily said. Mary turned her head and smiled at Lily’s words. “Ooo, can we make popcorn?” Mary asked excitedly. “Mary, you know Marls will kill us if we do that, it’ll make way too much noise.” Lily said. Mary sighed and lifted her head from the table before flipping off Marlene who was sleeping peacefully on the other side of the room. Lily chuckled a little before saying “I’ll go make it in the microwave in the common room so we don’t wake her.”
A few minutes later Lily returned with a big bowl of popcorn and placed it on the table in front of Mary. “Lils, do you understand anything in this textbook because I certainly don’t?” Mary asked as she reached for a handful of popcorn. Lily sat down next to Mary and grabbed a handful of popcorn too. “What do you need help with?” Lily asked as she ate a piece of popcorn from her hand. “I don’t understand this section.” Mary said, pointing to a passage in the textbook. Lily leaned over Mary’s shoulder and examined the paragraph closely. Mary’s eyes drifted from the book to Lily as she found herself taking in Lily’s beauty. Lily began explaining the passage to Mary but Mary was too distracted to comprehend anything that was being said. Before she could think about what she was doing Mary leaned over and kissed Lily.
Mary pulled away quickly remembering that Lily was both straight and dating a man. “I’m so sorry, I didn’t mean to do that.” Mary said quickly, before she could get out another word Lily grabbed Mary’s face and kissed her again. When the two girls separated Lily stood up quickly and walked out of the room with a look of shock on her face.
-later that night, in the gryffindor common room-
“I don’t know what to do Marls.” Lily said. “Well, do you still love James?” Marlene asked Lily, with a slightly concerned look on her face. “I mean… I thought I did.” Lily said reluctantly. “But now you’re realizing that you actually only like him as a friend and you actually have feelings for Mary.” Marlene said a little too confidently. “How did you figure that out so fast?” Lily asked with a look of confusion painted across her face. “Oh, I’ve known you two liked each other for years, I’ve just been waiting for you to figure it out.” Marlene said a little too quickly. “Why didn’t you tell us?!” Lily asked. “That’s for you two to figure out amongst yourselves. I can't just come in and tell you two how you're feeling.” Marlene said. Suddenly James interrupted their conversation and took Lily to his dorm so they could talk privately.
-after one long talk in James’s dorm-
“So I guess we should just go back to being friends now.” Lily said. “Ya, I guess so,” James said, looking over at Lily “Fist bump?” James asked, holding up his fist. Lily laughed a little before promptly giving James a fist bump.
