“No.” Regulus said before he could even stop to think about what he was saying. “What do you mean no? Your father was not asking you if you wanted to take the dark mark he was telling you to.” Walburga said in a dramatic tone of voice. Regulus could see the anger festering inside of her and building up. “You heard what I said. I’m not taking the dark mark, and you can’t force me to.” Regulus said with a blank expression on his face. “Regulus Black, you will stop this senseless arguing at once.” Orion commanded, “This is not your decision to make for yourself, what we say goes.” Regulus smirked a bit at that. He found it funny how his parents thought that they could make him do anything they wanted just because they were his legal guardians. “I’m not doing it.” Regulus replied coldly. He could see that his mother was about to explode with rage. Walburga stepped closer to Regulus and put her wand up to his throat. “Regulus, if you do not do this I will see to it that you never leave this house ever again.” Walburga said to Regulus before leaning closer to him to whisper into his ear, “And that means you’ll never see that little blood traitor you call a boyfriend or your brother ever again.”

Regulus felt like his heart was going to burst out of his chest. “May I go?” Regulus asked with a blank expression on his face. “What?!” Walburga asked, her face still seething with rage. “Well, you’ve made it clear I have no choice in this matter so I’ll ask again. MAY I GO?” Regulus said in a raised tone of voice. Walburga took her wand off of Regulus’s neck and shooed him away.

-later that night-

Regulus found himself staring at the ceiling counting down the minutes till his parents would fall asleep and he could sneak out to see James. He felt like he was a prisoner in his own home. Regulus checked the time and it was finally midnight. Regulus knew it was too risky to go any earlier than that as his parents might still be up. Regulus eagerly but silently crept to the window and opened it before transforming into his animagus form and sliding through the window.

When Regulus finally made it to the potter’s house it was about 1:00AM. Regulus sat on the window sill and gently tapped on the window with his paw. James eagerly walked to the window and opened it, letting Regulus in. Regulus walked into the room and transformed back into himself before sitting down on the edge of James’s bed. James walked over to Regulus and sat down next to him on the bed. Without saying a word Regulus leaned over and kissed James. When the two separated James had a happy but slightly surprised look on his face, which made sense because Regulus just kissed him out of nowhere. “Sorry, I probably should have given you some warning.” Regulus said, his hands still holding James’s face. “I’m not complaining, you can feel free to do that anytime you like. Except maybe if I’m eating that might be weird, and” James said before he was interrupted by Regulus kissing him again.

-about an hour later-

Regulus and James found themselves laying in bed staring at the ceiling in complaint silence. Then Regulus finally broke the peaceful quiet. “You should have Sirius come see me tomorrow night when I come to see you. I mean I like having alone time with you but I miss him too.” Regulus said softly into the silence. “That’s a great idea, Reggie.” James said, his voice as sweet as honey. Regulus found himself getting lost in the silence of the room and slowly felt himself drift off to sleep.

-The next morning-

Regulus woke up to James shaking him. “Mon soliel, cesse. C’est tres tôt le matin.” Regulus said. “Regulus, you have to go, I don't want you to get in trouble!” James said urgently. Regulus’s eyes shot open as he suddenly realized where he was. “MERDE!” Regulus yelled as he frantically got up. Regulus quickly left and headed home. The sun had just risen and the sky was a beautiful orange with hues of pink interwoven into it. Regulus could tell by the sun that he didn’t have much time before his parents would be awake.’I’m screwed’ Regulus thought to himself as he frantically ran home.

Regulus made it home and slowly slid back into his bedroom through the widow he had purposely left open for himself the night before. Regulus gently crept into the room and closed the widow behind him being sure that he wouldn’t make any noise.

Suddenly Regulus heard a knock at his door. Regulus walked to the door and gently pulled it open. Kreacher was standing behind the door waiting for Regulus. Regulus sighed heavily and bowed his head in defeat, it seemed like Kreacher’s ‘visits’ were becoming a daily thing. “Master Orion told Kreacher to wait for Master Regulus to return and then bring him to see Master Orion.” Kreacher said. Regulus’s ears perked at Kreacher’s wording. “Kreacher… what do you mean ‘wait for me to return’?” Regulus asked with a concerned look on his face. ‘How the fuck did they manage to wake up early enough to discover he was gone and give up on waiting for him to return?’ Regulus thought to himself. “Kreacher is not supposed to say.” Kreacher said. Regulus buried his head in his hands. ‘Shit’ he thought to himself.

Kreacher led Regulus to the library where his parents were waiting for him and having a morning cup of tea. “Good morning mother. Good morning father.” Regulus said as he sat down across from them. “So, let’s cut straight to the point Regulus. We know you snuck out last night to go see your brother and his little friend.” Walburga said, putting her tea cup she had in her hand down on the table in front of her. “Since you’ve insisted on undermining our authority time and time again you’ve left us with no choice.” Walburga said in a harsh tone. “You will take the dark mark this afternoon and attend your first death eater meeting later this week. After that is dealt with, we will discuss your future at that wretched school, and Regulus, believe me when I say that if you show even the slightest bit of insincerity towards Lord Voldemort you will never see the inside of that terrible school ever again.” Walburga said dramatically. Regulus felt Walburga’s words wrap around him like a nose around his neck, he felt his chest tighten as he began to breathe heavily.
